My first impressions of the cloud are very impressive. The noise is minimal and I would compare it to the ticking of a clock. The only thing I have noticed is that my unit seems to combust the herb on higher settings, and even 12 is much too high.

can we see a pic of the 12oclock abv?even at 3oclock my cloud doesn't combust.

Teaparty, I think clouds will be pretty close, all the low temp folks seem to agree on the 9 oclock setting. I like it a little higher, so I usually take one or two rips at 9 for flavor and go right to 1.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that famous ticking sound. My son says "that thing ticks really fast". I looked at him like he was crazy, because I don't hear it AT ALL. if I stick it right up to my ear, I can hear it. Guess my older ears don't really pick up that frequency anymore! Wait, combust at 12:00? Are you sure?

I would say mine runs slightly cooler at 12, After 4 deep rips it comes out a light tan. Everyone who has seen it is highly impressed

I'd have to say mine runs a bit hotter than that then. I can honestly dial it in at the lowest temp and get some really nice rips from ground bud. but if I put it on 12:00 or higher I can cash a bowl in about 2 1/2 hits, 1-2 if its a small bowl. dark dark abv but I wouldn't say its close to combustion. I haven't tried it much higher than 2:00 because i've packed some bowls half full and pretty much one hit cashed them on 1 rip at that temp. (I am using a pretty large tube though and I do have a very high tolerance)

I'm surprised to hear of combustion as well. Is the product very (perhaps even overly) dry? While I haven't exhaustively tested the limits of the temperature range I would be comfortable handing the Cloud to a smoker friend and let them try the higher range without fear of combustion. Personally don't think that there could (or should) be too much of a temperature variance from one unit to another dialed in at the same "time." I would expect and guess that such temperature variation would probably be owing to external factors more than the unit itself. :tc:

It's too bad to hear of the quality control issues with the in-house glass as I truly feel my "SG" Hydratube is manufactured with a great attention to detail, form and welds. I hope those issues get cleared up for those that are left wanting. Thankfully this does seem to be a quality control issue and not one of a glass-blower that simply doesn't have chops on the torch for whatever that's worth.

I've had my unit for around 8 weeks now (I don't care to look back at the exact date I received/posted as I can't find the old thread) and it continues to perform fantastically. After a week away from home on vacation it was nice to come home to the Cloud with its short warm-up time. I hope that people continue to receive their units in a timely manner and that VapeXhale keeps up the good work.

Mine did the same or worse. Using temp setting of 9 and 3/4 of ELB packed, after 3-4 rips, abv would have black/very dark pieces throughout. Tried using at 12, and near combustion. I sent mine in for replacement and USPS shows it as being returned yesterday morning. Hopefully I'll get a new Cloud sent out soon.

Interesting to note. I tend to like higher temp rips and after 4-5 days of using the cloud I've pretty much found the lowest temperature setting to be ideal (7). While anything above a 9 or 10 will cash my bowls pretty quick.
Here is a quick video i just took with 1 hit off the cloud at 9 o clock with the elb having sat in the unit for about a minute while I set up the camera. may be slightly hotter than it would be if i had freshly stuck it in. So I'll need to do more testing to see if mine is running hot, but I definitely don't like using it at 12:00 or above because the bowls cash out and lose taste after 1-2 hits.

Watch the hit from the beginning then skip to around 1:25 to the shot of the ABV next to fresh ground bud.

Nice glass Marcellus I have been looking to pickup the same from ALT but everything Mobius makes is out of stock. I can't imagine my VXC cashing my bowls at 12:00 after 1-2 hits, it could be possible that your unit is operating hotter than normal.

It could be the Pisa Perc! ;) In fact, that pic is kind of perc inspiring if you look at it. Its kind of like a Stereo Matrix on steroids . . lol if I look at it long enough I can "see" the bubbles comming out of it

Has anyone tried a cloud with a hops jagitoby chance? Curious if it has enough clearance. TIA

Often new cloud owners report such visual hallucinations Tdub! So no worries there. Better just send me a sample of your stash so I can confirm there aren't any other chems in your herb

@: Irie- SM55 has a video on yousetube with a Hops Jagito Bubbler, but it has since been removed. He can probably post a priviate link or confirm if it works with or without an adapter!:ninja:

Cheers

I can tell you right now other than some slits being cut to deep the hydra circ made by the in house blower are grade A Blue ribbon work.

In regards to that last video, mine does not make such thick smoke at 12, they with out a doubt are slightly different, not necessarily a bad thing.

Yea that's what I'm worried about. I mean I tend to like higher temp vapor but that vapor was at 9:00, so if its burning too hot at the normal temps I might be losing some of the efficiency.

But when I put it at the lowest temperature and pack the bowl 1/2 - 3/4 full I get 4-5 really nice rips, some lung busters. So I do think mine is running a bit hot but I have to do more testing to see if it is a big detriment. (testing is fun anyway :D)

Really? Did you see my picture? My perk almost touches one side of the tube! I'm not even bitching about it, but why try to say that?

I don't have one so can't say for sure. There is apparently more than one size.

That first vid is by SM himself. Maybe when he sees this post he can let you know for sure. Anyway, fwiw on the Jagito you'll need 1" clearance between the ID (not OD) of the joint and the chamber (i.e., on the Cloud it is 1" from the base of the Cloud's glass joint to the outside edge of the casing).

My Headford is a similar inline; it has a donut instead for the chamber but the action appears identical. I was really surprised that the HydraCirc has noticeably less drag than the Headford, which itself already has very little. And even though the 11-slit Headford does smaller bubbles than the 16-slit HC, the HC is still very nearly as smooth. In short, both pieces are great with the Cloud (in other words, if you need to spring for a 45 adapter, it's worth it).

Just got myself a SWEET orange :brow: Pelican 1500 case from Amazon! It's my 420 present to myself. View the item here:http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1500-...J7UK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1334445338&sr=8-4

I probably wont carry much in it except the cloud, an HT, (maybe 2) and a couple of amber glass jars and some ELBs. It should be pretty cool, whenever I decide to take my cloud out for a road trip!!! Free 2 day shipping with Prime too! :D

I use the VXC with a Hops Jagito almost daily but use an angled 14>18mm adapter. It would be a close fit without one (using an 18mm Jagito) for sure.

You kind of quoted me out of context by chopping my sentence in half. My point was that given the quality of my Hydratube it's surprising and "too bad to hear about the quality control issues." I've actually been quite impressed with TAFKAGM from the onset, thankfully it seems clear that VX will take care of those in need of replacements/repairs.
