SOLO'ed for the first time after receiving my brand new SOLO M107 in black. Cost? Don't know if I can share that on here! But anyways I am very pleased. couldn't finish the second bowl pack. Amazing feeling, and extraordinarily efficient, You are really not wasting any active ingredients!!! which you would other wise waste by burning the shit out of them with a lighter!!! It feels like every hit counts, and nothing is lost. Burning it is actually the retarded thing to do, because you are for sure wasting most of it.

Just received my Solo from amazon, truly shipped in one day. I received a m107 even though the seller said it was m106, sweet! With amazon prime it is only $4 extra for One Day Shipping, making the total price $140. That is less than half the price of MSRP. The quality of this unit is better than i expected, it has a solid feel to it. Aluminum case instead of plastic. The unit is also smaller than I expected, it can really fit in your pocket.

When i unboxed the product, it was at charge level 3. I plugged it in to charge and I took a shower. Now it is at level 7 with a blinking green light (which indicates it is almost done charging I believe?). This thing charges super quick which is necessary since the unit cannot be turned on while charging.

I have not even turned on my unit yet, but I smelled inside the heat chamber. It is that classic printed circuit boat/electronics smell. Exact same smell my new PS3 slim gave off for the first few days of using it.

I will post up in a week or two after I use the unit more to give a mini review. I have used the Arizer extreme 2.0 for four years, that unit has seen EXTREME usage (taken to parties, taken on boats, car rides, etc). I am looking forward to seeing if I can achieve full extraction with 4 holes in the stem with not one screen (extreme vape has two screens).

Great Scott!
If I understand correctly if you are to believe Arizer the model number means nothing. In the solo thread however, there seems to be a link between model number and changes.

Okay just did a couple sessions, here are the immediate negatives i have with it:

I ground my herb with a medium space case (it does not grind particularly fine compared to other grinders with smaller holes). If you stir the bowl at all, a screen is a must have. Once the herb is near being cached, it will break down into smaller pieces and fall past the 4 holes in the glass stem.

Also, the airflow when drawing is super super restricted. Does anyone have a stem with a giant opening (instead of the 4 holes) with a lip for a screen? Where are you guys buying screens for the Solo?

I've noticed that if you pack a small bowl, like half way loosely packed, it will evenly brown without the need to stir. But, if you plan on packin' the bowl more than half way and/or pressing the herb down, the herb that is up against the 4 holes will be green and the herb closest to the heat element will be dark brown. The solution to this is to stir 1-2 times. But there is no easy way to stir without making a mess if you're in a car.

Someone should make a small stir cap. It will cover the bowl on the stem so no herb falls out as you stir. You would rotate the cap and it could stir the herb as the cap is plugging the bowl.

Agreed on the super restricted draw, probably this vape's biggest downfall. I have a stem with a big opening instead of the 4 holes with a screen and it works a bit better and gives bigger clouds but caches quicker too.

The hard draw can cause headaches.

Maybe it is just my experience with log vapes or my strong healthy lungs (these days at least), but i have never had issues with the solos airflow rate. I'm just used to taking long, slow hits anyway, so it doesnt bother me that you really cant hit the solo really fast.

Moreover, i think the restricted airflow is probably an intentional and crucial element in the design of the solo, and ppl who are trying to modify things to allow for greater airflow will most likely be met with lessened performance if you do manage to succeed. The solo is good at maintaining temp now, but if you increase the drawspeed the heater is going to have a much harder time trying to maintain temp. You'll probably get thinner hits and will have to wait a bit in between hits for the solo to come back up to temp.

Also, i never really "pack" my herb in. I load it 1/2-3/4 full and stick it in solo, put it in the downstem, wait ~2mins and go. But my friend who owns a solo says his has really restricted airflow compared to mine, even with an empty stem, but he says it wasnt always that way. Who knows

I've modified my stems with no lessened performance. It helps create the perfect airflow for vaporbonging. I also like to take big hits back to back and i never have to wait in between hits for the heater.

VapeNStone,
yeah nothing in detail. mine are brown rocks pretty much. idk how much to put in or anything
Ok so it sounds like you bought some hash and you have no idea what do you with it. How about doing some research on marijuana first before you consume it? I mean I first tried it when I was 14 but I had people helping me like they should be doing with you. The internet isn't for everything you know?

Looking for some advice.... Just got my Solo m107 a couple of days ago. However, i am not getting the hit i want (or need). I know you hit vapes differently than a pipe. Here is what i am doing

setting the device to 5 and let it warm up with the cap on
pack the step loosely with shake
insert the stem and wait 10 seconds
take a slow drag. Similar to drinking through a straw.

My questions are: Should i be packing it more tightly? Any tips on how i can get a big vape cloud? i have watched a bunch of youtube clips but i cannot get those rips

how long are your hits? 10secs? 25secs? Sometimes I hit my Solo for more than 45secs... As the airflow is so constricted you need to pull for some time for vapor to get thicker in your lungs. :)

the airflow in the solo is much tighter and harder than my original iolite, MFLB and myDBV... that being said... if i pull a little harder and longer i get much better hits than i ever did with my iolite or MFLB. play and test alot!!!! you will find your sweet spot

I was hitting it for 10-25 seconds. I will extend it to 45- a min. Thanks for the advice

just hit harder for longer. I can get a huge awesome hit in my solo in about a few seconds. So IDK what you people are talking about the air flow? I also have a m013 ceramic model that the flow was even worse.

here for the chicks
I always let my stems heat up with the Solo, that may help too. I hit it as soon as the light of the setting I chose stays on. I do press in the bits that stick out a bit, but otherwise I don't pack. Hit it slow and try to balance on the speed it will allow you to inhale without putting to much force on it, if that makes any sense. I get instant vapor that way, no need for longer draws unless you want more vapor.

OhTheAgony,
I also put my stem in many lights before its completely warmed up so that I can get big nice tasty hits instantly when it reaches temp.
