Great looking stems above! Anyone have or use other hydra tubes with their PD?

:D

I would really really like to see a "hydra tube" type, larger bore stem for the PD. It would be like a small bowl PD version of the VapeXhale Cloud.

CD made a couple of these several months ago and I really wanted one then.. hopefully he or someone else will consider doing it again, preferably with a removable tip for easy cleaning.

I like the one fitted to the walnut PD in the ClearDome stem picture above. On a similiar note, it would be great to have bent neck hydra tube bore stem.

Not sure what wood that is, but I don't think it's Walnut. I think CD has an early Tasmanian Blackwood could be Tea Tree, can't remember. :buzz:

Anyway he has been through a few struggles with landlords and fire marshals and zoning councils and as I understand it, they are trying to decide if he is an artist or industry. Of course he is an artist, are they blind ??? Typical struggles of a true artist. so expect production to come back online slowly. I'm not sure if the bubbler in the pic lived up to CD's standards... I should be able to get a new batch of tips out to CD this week.

Trying to keep production at (my) full capacity. PDs through 11-04 went today along with Pandora Kits through the 12th. PDs through the 12th go tomorrow. Thursday will be the last shipping day till the 16th, a few things will go out between now and then.

Pammy is taking a much deserved vacation to San Diego with her girlfriends. Expect limited e-mail from us 12-10 to 12-16. I will be in the shop trying to get as much work done as possible while she is gone. Weekends when the Tres Amigos (the girlfriends) get together, and it's just me and the dogs, are very productive :whip: . Should get lots of work done during this week for the christmas rush. But no product will ship 12-10 to 12-16. I don't drive and am living on frozen food (good home cooked frozen food). Expect my production to stack up and be ready for shipment when she returns.

I have to send my PD back to the good folks in PD land, the question I have is has anyone done this? Any problems with sending a used PD through the USPS, or should I use a different carrier?

Thanks!

Since we only receive via a USPS P.O. Box, USPS (the United States Postal Service [not United Parcel Service]) is the only way to get a package to us. There are no other options. Return authorization (for service or warranty) gives folks detailed info (shipping address and other return info), please write for any further info, troubleshooting info or return authorization.

Thanks Tom, big "D'uh" on my part. I had been talking to Pammy and she sent me all the info on the return, I just totally overlooked that the only way to get something to a P.O. box is through the P.O. :) I'll just clean it out as best as I can to ease my paranoia (sucks that a legal CA 215 patient still has to worry about the Feds). Do people usually put return addresses on them?

Thanks again!

Certainly, Tuttle, thanks for understanding, that was more a generic info response, and slight reminder that the Post Office isn't very flexible. :/ I defend them a lot , :uhoh: but also see plenty of ways they could improve.

I would like to include a thanks this a.m. to Tom & Pam at Purple-Days. My cherry PD has been treating me so well during this early winter. RA symptoms for me tend to amplify around this time of year. It sure is nice to have a warm PD vape at any moment :D

Hey guys,
I was looking into getting a pd but i had a couple of questions maybe you can help. Where does the air intake come from? Does it just get pulled through the top of the unit? and is there a screen in the pd to prevent herb from falling in the unit?

Hey ted, welcome.

The PD does not have a screen in the heat exchanger, but I've had my PD's for 2 years now and herb falling into the PD has never been an issue. Ya just tilt the PD back when taking a hit kinda of like drinking from a coke can. Only needs to be done on the first hit, 'cause all subsequent hits, the herb is basically glued into the bowl.

Two reasons for not having a screen is one, "if" any herb falls through, which could happen on the first hit even with a screen if you don't do what I suggested above, it would be harder to get the herb out, and two, the screen would act a bit like a heat sink, lowering the temp of the vape.

Of course, other makers of similar vapes may argue to the contrary. It's basically just a difference in design philosophy.

Yes, the air gets drawn in from the top of the vape.

elmomuzz

That just happened...
I disagree with both points. Inside the tube is the bare heating resistor. It gets hot enough to really cook the weed. A screen keeps any loose stuff away from it. It's also easier to clean some debris from on top of the screen then from under the resistor.

The screen has very little mass. It is insignificant compared to the mass of the rest of the heat exchanger. But if you must argue the point it would actually help the exchanger hold heat while you toke due to the "increased" mass. Furthermore I notice you preheat your vaportube for a few seconds prior to toking. This does in fact slightly lower the temp of the heat exchanger which in turn lowers the temp of the air flowing through the herb in the bowl. Not that it's a big deal but it's counter to your previous argument.

Regardless I don't use one either. It's just not a big problem. :)

Thanks for the speedy response and welcome. The herb getting stuck after the first hit didn't even come to my mind. I Guess i could always cut a screen to fit if it bothered me. My dbv is great and all but i find myself always needing to put a little more herb in than i would like and i have always wanted to try a log vape. So i'm going to treat myself Im going to put my order in sometime this week, hopefully i will get it not to far after the holidays:)

Question.... do you guys remove the stem after every hit to clear it? or do you just leave it in all the time?

I've been starting to leave it in and I'm getting mostly brown abv now, but I've seen people do it the other way too.

I remove the stem after every hit, but I do leave the stem in the PD for about 5 seconds before taking a hit letting it heat things up a bit.

I leave the stem in but rest the unit on its side in between hits, rather than returning it to the table in its upright position.
The cord prevents it from rolling off the coffee table, and I just pick it up and hit when i want.

hi, i'm curious about concerns from charrin of wood i heard about to temps of various substances like some that aren't used anymor like lead, then i heard about chromium if that's it & nickel especially since hulga clarks cure for all diseases book says surgical stainless is 5%nickel so what the temps on these if any even small percentage may b inhaled? if nothing to worry about that's gr8, then what wood is lowest temp blu vapor to avoid this charrin or in the future like will there b a insert (ceramic) to prevent?
After months of research, I landed with a Purple Days for its health benefits and insane efficiency...couldn't be happier. The wood from my three month old maple hasn't charred, nor could there be a healthier alternative than a stainless steel heat exchanger. Perhaps you should stick to cooking with your herb, that way it comes into contact with what you believe is safe (although I'd trust a freshly cleaned PD stem over your pots and pans).

On 24/7 for months, no charring. As to the rest- nothing to worry about- no ceramic insert needed.

Concerning the char haven't you ever enjoyed the warm glow of a wood fire? You sucked down more char there then you ever will with a log vape. Enjoy. :)

ok thcx, my mother gave me my pots & pans; i dont like em either, what the best to cook out of pyrex, if they still sell oor polished steel & what use lots of butter to prevent stickin? altho nickel prolly should go with pyrex, so again absolutely no concern, short of spendin hundreds/thousands 4 lab testin of toxic inhaled metals? i safe gr8 thcx berry mucho????????????????????????????????8??
When I cook, I use 1/4ounce of finely ground herb to a 1/4pound of butter with a couple cups of water to your favorite crock-pot. Cook on low for 12-18hrs, strain out through cheese cloth to remove particulates, rinse cheese cloth with fresh boiling water to extract everything possible, then chill until butter separates from water (I find that being patient allows for more separation, thus, yielding more butter). By the way, throw out the nasty water and cheese cloth filled with extracted material...they are dead to you :( but their memory lives on in their buttery lovechild. :o

When cooking with vaped material, I just add equal parts butter and proceed with the above method (i.e. 1/2 cup AVB to 1/2 butter). AVB is thought to have about 40% potency of fresh.

Use your butter as you would use regular butter in any recipe. However, remember that 20% of non-clarified butter is actually water. No problem, your butter will be 20% smaller (about a tablespoon less then 1/4 stick). Make sure you add a slightly overfilled tablespoon more of whatever liquid your recipe calls for...this is significant when making caramels (for example).

If your recipe calls for oil, I use coconut oil instead of butter (you can use whatever oil you want, but coconut oil has one of the highest fat percentages making more room for your fat-soluble THC).
If I want to make pills I use 80%coconut butter and add 20% liquid lecithin when room temp and ready to encapsulate.
There are tons of super healthy ways to consume...indeed, fuck combustion.

You seriously wont regret it :)

Also, Just a TIP to you PD users who may want to travel with a few pre-packed stems (or for many other reasons) try a tire valve cap...I use one on mine all the time for clean storage. It also easily allows me to only use a smaller portion of the bowl when a full bowl may over medicate...or for when I want a bowl and a half :brow:
