It occurred to me when I did that I never passed on what I think is a good thing, putting a screen on top of the load. I've been goofing with loosening the cap and rolling the unit to mix after the load is dry and loose (I still do a dump in the palm a time or two first). In the process I tried adding a 5/8 inch SS screen on top (it just fits). Not only does it keep the top clean but I think it helps in the mix when I roll it as the load tends to stick just a bit and then break up.

If you have the screens handy from your other projects, I suggest you try it out.

OF
Sounds like a good idea for the friction helping to mix. Do you have any concern with scratching the rim of the bowl? Or are you talking just resting the screen on top of herb inside of bowl?
Only asking because while I had that key ring agitator in I found it actually rested against the bowl. BTW, I no longer use as just spinning shaking palm of hand etc. seem good enough. Not to mention you also scarred me with the health aspect concerns. Also, seeing that post with some flaking around top of rim. Maybe had a screen installed?
My only peeve is when the holes clog and can't just be cleaned by a thumb wipe and blow through. Those times have no choice but to get the paper clip out. Hoping TV will come out with a solution. Did you see the concept photo I posted a few posts back? Any suggestions for a strong flexible post which is air path safe? Kinda of thinking a heat resistance teflon glued into a drip tip? Even a single post would save the day from finding that dang paper clip. Which always seems to go hiding when you need it. I know lots of questions.....Well one more, any suggestions for a air way safe, heat resistance epoxy? (For affixing the post into a hole in drip tip)

Pipes,
Alright. So I mentioned a few pages back that I was having the problem where it won't turn on until I spin the battery sleeve. And after it works if I try to push it up in the same spot it won't work. I have to spin it, make sure it's heating up, and then use it. I soaked the main compartment and sleeve in vinegar to no avail. I'm still having the same problem. My heater core is definitely not unscrewing like some of you. I think it must be a switch problem?

Did you by any chance get the REV as well? If so you could swap switches as a test.
BTW, I found lighter fluid cleans this metal very well. Make sure it is completely gone before trying to fire it up though. Might fire up real good.

Sadly, I don't. The Revolution looks badass, I just live in the midwest and hash and oils are not so prevalent. I dream of California living. But yeah, I'm pretty sure all the oxidization stuff was off of it. Before I cleaned it I could stick my finger in there and a bunch of black stuff came off, but after the vinegar wash it looks good as new.

OK, so here's my latest thinking on this issue. Nothing conclusive, of course, but what I'm finding? I have a couple of switches available to me between my T1 and Revolutions (2 of the 3 models use the same switch). Over time I've moved my 'ghost' to the Alpha Ultra (mid size) Revolution body. In this last few rounds of testing, I've had it fail several times (and none of the others have), I think I've got it nailed down to the switch.

What I've been working on last is when it happens I carefully screw the battery off. From here, if I carefully thread it back on it often fails. Far more than it usually would. If, however, I turn the bottom contact half a turn or so and carefully reassembled it has lit up every time so far. I'm thinking is some contamination or flaw in the contacts at some small spot and when you disturb it contact is made in a different area (or the junk is elsewhere) next time. I could easily be off on a false path here, or chasing a problem unique to this unit and not what others are seeing, but why not give it a try?

I agree about California, about time we caught a break, sure am glad it's this one...... Come on in, housing prices are down right now.....

I'm sure TV would be happy to send you a new switch to try out. Not worth returning I think, unless of course it fixes your issue in which case the problem switch becomes real valuable in solving the problem for everyone else.

Good points. I too didn't want to ding up the plating. But the 5/8 screen fits inside the rim by a tiny bit, it works normally. 3/4 is a bad idea IMO. I figure what happens is the moisture and other condensation 'sticks' the screen to the top, it often comes off in the cap. No scratches yet in the bowl lip, but even if it does happen, this is changed with the heat core so it's not permanent in the normal sense. The holes stay clear but the screen gets plugged near by (instead). A while back I 'burned it off' and we're back in business.

BTW, I found a wooden tooth pick the idea tool to poke the holes. Doesn't scratch, sizes itself for a tight fit, and is easier for old eyes to get the sharp point into those little holes. All useful features IMO.

Saw your post but am not working on ideas right now.....not because I think TV might already be hot on this or anything of course. But back when I was thinking of it, I was still uneasy about glues, even furnace cements, for a host of reasons. I think a mechanical retention is the call. I was thinking a SS wire looped down through two holes and bent inside the bowl area. Sort of a swinging wire hoop paddle. Or a piece of SS braided cable (common fare for bead stringers) staked into the top and with PTFE tube (standard in Electronics) over it maybe? For now, I'm having too much fun testing other guys efforts and making rude suggestions, I'll let someone else carry that one a while.

I never hide my e-cig. :brow:
Best not to hide but have an explanation for what it is. (or could be) Easy for me to say as I do use it for that. Now flying might be a different story.
Have fun at the Gardens.

Been using my TV1 for the last few days, just wanted to say it's quickly become my favorite personal vape (Owner of a Volcano, MFLB, SV, Arizer, a few others). If you like the MFLB, you'll love this (and I loved my MFLB, been using it for over 2 years). However it has finally seen a replacement, the ThermoVape....it's discreet, solid, and delivers clean-tasting, pure vapor efficiently. I use it with the Pure-Flow filter, and the hits are smooth and never irritate my throat. If anyone asks it's my epi-pen or e-cigar or electric screwdriver or something. Regardless, it is well-designed and appears as a medical-grade product, and does what it needs to do remarkably well.

A note: I find that this is just like the MFLB in the sense that it really is intended for personal use, and those who require larger amounts of botanicals (several bowls) may not appreciate it as much, as each pair of batteries seems good for roughly one bowl. However, as someone coming from using a MFLB for portable use, this definitely takes the cake and has quickly become my vaporizer of choice. Customer support appears dedicated, and I look forward to seeing the line of accessories expand.

I got my warranty charger replacement in the mail yesterday. After giving all my batteries a full charge, and the TV1 some cleaning love, I was re-united with my beloved portable! I had been using my MFLB in the interim and it just hadn't been getting me to where I wanted to be.

I don't want to hate on the box, because it really is a fantastic product (and admittedly better for groups when everyone knows how to use it). For my own personal use however, the TV1 is just much easier to use, more discreet, more efficient, and way better tasting. That being said, if there were some way to get more battery life, or if a power adapter were produced, the TV1 would be completely in a league of its own for portables.

I think Google checkout is the working method to pay right now.

Has anyone noticed Lord Vader has made a couple "appearances" in this thread? Perhaps he needs a portable vape as well? Or maybe he is a happy T1 owner already? May the force be with us :)

Great Scott!
Reporting back that ever since I ditched my PureFlow I actually enjoy the TV again and started using it again. Either there is some curve I simply can't grasp or it is just not for me. No or very little vapor and damn headaches from trying to produce vapor with it. I want it to work for the moisture reasons, but I may need to just sell it or trade it to someone for a water pipe adapter for the TV. I simply can't get any results with it and it pretty much made me stop using the TV completely. I am happy to say that without it I am happy with my TV again.

I do believe my charger is prematurely killing batteries as it is behaving weirdly some days :/ The charger is a real issue. The pureflow simply isn't for me I guess.

I gotta agree with you here, although I may not have given it a full test. The way I use TV needs a fair bit of air pulled through over time to heat things up. With the added restriction that's real hard for me to do. I too took it back off.

However, I also tried it on my Revolution. Wow! Here low flow rate is the key. The hits suddenly got smoother and moist and cooler....very dangerous. You loose reference and take more than you can hold. So my advice would be look for another solution for the TV, but hang onto that little sucker and buy it a Revolution to slide under it....and hang on. More testing is called for, but at this point I'm thinking TV should automatically include the filter in the Revolution kits.

I have had my TV1 now for 2 months and use it every day and absolutely love it. I love the way it is put together and the way it conserves my stash. I have read a few other comments about how efficient this unit is and I have to agree. I can tell by my stash level that this thing is saving me a lot of money.

I also had a few very small combustion issues when I first started using this vape, and it was always after I dump the bowl into my hand for a regrind and get the grind too fine. The smaller pieces will fall onto the coils and burn a tiny bit, but if you are careful not to bang it around while the load is upright, you can avoid the burn. Or just keep your grind coarser.

A few weeks ago I ordered some 1200 mah LiFePo4 and was going to go through a bunch of current testing and long arduous experiments outside of the TV1, but I did a lot of research and found these 1200 mah cells had the same protective circuit that the 750 mah Tenergy cells have, so I went right to the TV1 with the new cells.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I have been using the 1200 mah cells in one cycle and the originals in the next cycle for about the past three weeks. The 1200 mah cells do not have the ability to discharge fast enough to keep the coils warm enough, and the extra capacity the cells carry is wasted by the heat the batteries create trying to discharge faster than they are designed to. The only plus out of the whole experiment was a 4 bank LiFePo4 charger, so now I can charge all six of my cells at the same time.

I should have trusted the Thermovape team to have supplied the best batteries available, and should have listened to OF and his advice about Thermovape and their battery testing. Thank you OF, I will actually listen the next time you offer advice, you seem to be a very wise and thoughtful person.

The batteries are the only weak point in this kick ass vaporizer, and for personal use, I do not have one issue with the batteries, the original set of six will last me all day with no problem.

This is the best built, safest and stealthyist vape on the market right now, my hats off to the Thermovape team, with your customer support and awesome product, I am sure you will do VERY well with your line of products. I just wish the laws in the state I live in would change so that we would have availability to hash and concentrates, I would love to have a reason to purchase more accessories from this company.

Tally ho!

I have been using your screen idea for a couple days and it's great. And a pain.
In deed it keeps the holes clean. In fact if you can stop yourself from wiping it from the inside they functioned for me right up to the point where I just had to clean do to the ugliness of it. LOL.
Just a simple blow keeps the main holes open. The wiping clogs them. The screen seems to keep the crud from getting pushed into the holes. Helps to stir. I used a spare from my Vapor Genie. Some herb does make it around the sides but no big deal. The only pain is making sure you don't loose it while the unit is open.

As a follow up to my battery problems, I am getting a grip on it. I have coded my batteries and take note of performance. Seemed a little un-prodictable until.........
I thought back to anything I may have done to cause this myself. (I'm known for that) And could only think about the small piece of electrical tape I put on the outside bottom of battery sleeve. I did this as I did not particularly like the click sound on the recoil. As not a part of the contact points I never thought any more about it. I removed it and the batteries started to become more predictable as well as did not seem to get as hot as before. Now I know the new batteries I have will definitely go for the full 10 or so hits per 90 mg bowl. Finianlly....yaaaaa.:D
However, the bad news is the original cells consistently only get 1/2 to 2/3 before performance drops off. Still under test. I now think this may be do to the excessive heat? Hopefully, caught in time before killing the newer batteries. I might be totally off here but predictability sure seems better with that tape removed. Still kind of stunned that it seemed to make such a difference. Hopefully, this knowledge will benefit others who may have caused their own problems.
I have now got my batteries for herb use and the other ones for preheat and e-cig use. I can live with that.

I couldn't agree with you more. The batteries are the primary weak point of the T1 (though I am really annoyed with the rate at which the cap holes clog, and need cleaning. Pipe's post, quoted below, points out that wiping the top cap clogs the holes faster than leaving them alone and just blowing through the cap, then finally cleaning them with a toothpick when things get too grungy. I couldn't agree more, though I didn't really figure it out until last night, for some reason; wiping the inside of the cap is NOT the way to go. I have also found that Oral-B superfloss cleans the holes better than anything else, including a toothpick.).

Anyway, the LiFePO4 batteries are an inspired choice. I've been doing some research to put together a charging station, and these cells we're using can be charged at 4C rates (15 minutes from dead to full), and can put out hundreds of amps in short pulses. Very low internal resistance, and very safe chemical technology. They really are ideally suited for how we're using them, and ThermoEssence did their homework when they selected them.

I have 12 batteries in rotation now (with four more on order). Sixteen is enough to keep me and a friend going for one long day. Charging them with two slow chargers doesn't really work out when I get home with 12 (or 16) dead batteries and want all of them to be charged the next morning without me having to stay up and mind them.

I've been digging around the remote control airplane/helicopter/boat forums, and the Tenergy web site, to see what's available to charge multiple LiFePO4 batteries safely in a short time. There are a number of choices, at different price points, though all that I've found so far will require me to fabricate the holders and wiring involved to charge RCR123A size cylindrical cells. This is not really difficult, but does mean sourcing and buying the cell holders, the connectors used for balanced charging, and the thermocouples for monitoring the cell temperatures.

This can be done on the cheap for probably under $50 for a more simple version (won't handle 16 cells at the same time, maybe will handle eight at that price point), or $100-$200 for a version that does everything, including displaying full charge, discharge, and capacity curves for each cell. You can even hook it up to your computer if you want.

One of the most frustrating things for me is not being able to tell the condition of my batteries. I use rechargeable AA batteries in a bunch of things, and my charger not only lets me set whatever charge rate I want, but also discharges, conditions, and evaluates the batteries. The two "identical" Tenergy slow chargers I have now charge at significantly different rates. One takes a half hour more to finish charging a cell (or pair of cells) than the other. Consistently, no matter which of my 12 batteries I test with. I don't know if one charges faster, or one just terminates the charging earlier. I hate not knowing if one charger isn't charging batteries as fully as the other, or one just takes longer. As much as I try to use all my batteries evenly, this just doesn't work out perfectly in the field, and I hate not knowing if a battery has half its initial capacity because it's been through twice as many charge/discharge cycles as a different battery.

...snip... As a follow up to my battery problems, I am getting a grip on it. I have coded my batteries and take note of performance. Seemed a little un-prodictable until.........

The way we are "abusing" the batteries cries for a better charger, with the ability to see how the cells are holding up. Keeping track of the state of a bunch of batteries is impractical without help from a smart charger. I don't plan on keeping a written log of my battery use; I'm too stoned at the time anyway! There are enough variables involved in getting the ThermoVape to work 100% that I want to know the state of my batteries, so when something doesn't work as expected, I can look elsewhere to figure out the problem.

Just a matter of time for the charger, right ThermoVape? Couple weeks max? :brow:

So maybe I should't buy anything right away?

I have found that if my cap holes clog up, the cap will fit quite nicely on my kitchen faucet. I press the cap upside down to the faucet and turn on as much hot water as the cap will allow flow through. Then a quick wipe out and the holes are as clean as new. You should get a pretty high power stream coming from the mouthpiece while running hot water through it.

I also saw a comment about the TV1 being taken on a plane and whether you could do it. Do not forget the TV1 can be completely cleaned and sterilized by boiling everything but the switch. After boiling the thermocore and bowl, the unit should be quite safe to take on a plane trip.

I just want to say, for the MILLIONth time, nothing beats the flavor from the ThermoVape!!!

If you want to know how your herb SHOULD taste like - you need to try it with the ThermoVape!

And yeah, I know, a Cloud might have just as or a more awesome (how can that be possible?) taste, but the Cloud isn't portable - so neener neener neener! :p

Totally agree Sessnet! The flavor from the TV1 is by far the best I have ever tasted. Have you noticed a reduction in your quantity needed to become medicated? I have found this unit to be extremely efficient, it seems to take less to get more of a buzz.

Love the neener neener neener!

Yeah! Out of everything, I prefer the taste...it's almost like that what I need and am looking for. So I guess when you can taste it, you can know it is actually working -it is an indicator to me.

And yes I barely need anything in the TV - seems I need less than the Solo, but it could be just the taste..not sure.

I tried some BHO recently, and realized instead that I LOVE the taste/freshness, even if it's mexican shwag. So I will go out of my way to score some decent stuff, to test it in my TV.

I just hope a PA comes out soon, because the ThermoVape might (just..might) become more used at home, instead of just as a pocket vape!

It sure as hell delivers in the taste department!!!

Weird thing is - my TV is dirtier than any Vape I've ever owned. I like the well seasoned bowl...it's like a souvenir of all the times I used it. I don't like dirty stuff, but this is sort of like growing a beard. However, the time will come soon where I will need to clean it. I like knowing that if I do clean it - it will come out sparkling!

I use very high quality flowers in mine and my bowl is still perfect after 2 months. All I do is wipe the dust out after finishing and it is like brand new. I have seen pictures of other dirty bowls and wonder how they get that way, mine still looks like the day I got it. I don't understand why mine stays clean, I do nothing but vape and then wipe it out.

Maybe just clean livin' ... nah, forget that.
