This is a reminder to all cloud owners. Do not let your friends blow or cough into the hydratubes. This is what will happen.

The glass inside the cloud is also cracked and is hard to capture with my camera. I'm pretty pissed and now I'm trying to get this resolved with the vapexhale support group.
WoW :ninja: that's a shame =( My condolences.
First one to go - R.I.P. Cloud

Would it be possible to integrate one way valve into HT's ?
something like this http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m331/timmyjj21/DSCF3713.jpg
But I suppose it would probably hinder air flow to some degree.

Ouch, I can't imagine how gutted you feel. You have my sympathy.

I wonder how many times we will see this happen? A few, I reckon. In this light I think mine will be for expert vaporists only, which in my house basically means just me!

I think the next time I have some friends over, I won't have them use the hydratube. I'll have them use my stemline so this way if they cough into it, the water won't go into the cloud.

Been here since 2009
So you can't overfill and no blowing / coughing into it. Not the end of the world.

This is awful! You extended yourself to a friend and allowed them to try your new beloved gadget and they fucked it up. Boy do I know that feeling.

My condolences brother, it sucks that your experience is one of the first cautionary tales for future and current Cloud owners. Keep the HT away from the noobs.

Bummer! :uhoh: As good as the VXC guys are, I'd be very (VERY) surprised if they covered that under warranty. :(

While I'm sure it won't be covered by warranty, if the glass is all that needs replacing I'm extremely confident the VXL crew will work out some sort of fair price for a fix if at all possible.

Obviously opening the cloud will void the warranty, but when you have a broken cloud that'd be the least of my concerns. It would be awesome if that glass were easily replaceable. Will replacing the internal glass be an option for us at home, or will it be something we'd need to send in for repair? What might this repair cost?

The list I posted, was compiled by me scrolling through about 40 pages of this cloud thread, and posting names of known beta-testers, and those who have posted reviews/videos/confirmed shippments...I'm pretty sure that the names I posted are correct, just not so sure I got them all. :p

You can add me to that list as well.

OUCH!! Those pictures hurt like watching someone get kicked in the balls. We're so sorry for your loss! Let's make that: no blowing, coughing, OR LAUGHING into HTs. I know I saw my DBV get all smokey many times from people laughing while they were taking a hit.

LESSON LEARNED NO ONE USE MY CLOUD. THEY CAN BUY THEIR OWN.

I've probally let 30 or 40 try my cloud. When with others, I feel non HT glass may be safest. If you cough, shouldn't put water in the vc. Also, other glass stands up better with a bigger base. Thanks god I haven't had that problem.
For those in cali, worry about earth quakes much? Put it way between uses, 2wouldn't want it to fall of able.

i use the stemless more for that reason. It has a big base. my ht is resting on a thick sock for now. The little tumblers that we get in tahoe are not that extreme. for noobs that you are worried about maybe use without water idk. i know i hit mine without water and it was illuminating.

It might be a good idea to save/print one of those pics of the 'accident' and show it to those who want to try the Cloud, along with having them sign a statement that says they're responsible for the repair bill, should they screw up and end up with a similar result. It may indeed be a good idea to have any friends you're not sure of to first use the Cloud with no water. I had no idea something that serious could happen, but I'm glad it's been reported. I think it may serve to keep many a Cloud intact in the future.

I've said this before, but it bears repeating. For a less serious water accident, where just a small amount of water may get down through the glass of the vape, there may be no damgae to the unit, but any water making it through and out the bottom will be extremely hot, to the point where you can get a 2nd degree burn even through clothing. It's hard to believe that water can get that hot that quickly, but I can testify from personal experience that it can and does.

That's something to consider. After all, this vape was designed for the vapor connoisseurs among us. And while I've described this vape in the past as one with no learning curve, you clearly have to be able to inhale only when you put your mouth to it. ;)

yes, this too should be a warning for users. cannot assume that vape noobs would know that any water flowing down would be super hot. would be a painful burn if the person spills some water while resting a Cloud on his lap/groin :o .

So it's safe to assume the glass portion of the cloud is the magic $300 piece. It's custom obviously, so replacement pieces won't be cheap.

Sorry to see that happen to your cloud. I hope the murderer buys you a new setup.

No way...the actual Cloud itself is the big cost.
Aren't the HT'S gonna be in the $150-$200 range?
You can always get a cheap tube for back up.

So sorry to hear about your loss Alaac81
Hope the VXL crew gives you a nice "compassion" discount on a new one!

I think he means the glass in the vape itself, not the HT. $300 isn't the vape glass though. That's about what a Cloud alone will run (by the last estimate I saw from sm) when separate purchases can be made.

Thanks for the sympathy guys, but it's all good. My friend says he'll pay for the damages. I'm just waiting for the response back so I could find out the cost and ship this baby back. I want the Cloud back as soon as possible and for now I'm back using the supreme v.2. I believe the VXC crew will come through and make me a happy man again.

Mongorian, the forum won't allow me to edit that post anymore, lol. But I'll keep it in mind

As for Alaac81, I'm horribly saddened by your loss! I'm glad, however, to see that you came here to post about it, with pics, so as to add a sobering reminder to ALL Cloud users, present and future; Don't exhale/blow/cough/laugh into the Cloud! I'm anxious to hear how the repair/replacement process will work out, please keep us all up to date, and hopefully you'll be in the clouds before too long :)

Maybe we should switch things up a bit; The VapeInhale Cloud

So someone expelled some water down into the cloud and THAT happened?? :o So, the thermal shock cracked the tube inside and this caused a fault line in the tube that made the top joint crack off?? Just curious how this all happened, and just like everyone else, I am so sorry to have this happened to ya!

Please keep us posted with how it all gets resolved...

Condolences to Alaac81, may your Cloud rest in peace, fine sir. :(

48 hours later and I am still absolutely amazed by how well this unit performs. I should have a video up sometime tomorrow of the Cloud coupled with a few pieces of my (albeit small) glass collection. I'm getting excited about all the HydraCirc pictures we will hopefully start seeing this week!

I'm pretty sure I preordered this, but I'm not totally sure. Was there a confirmation email or anything?

My friend was trying to take a massive hit and as he was milking up the tube, he coughed right into the tube. Right away I heard some sizzling sounds. I panicked and turned the cloud right off and unplugged the wire. It keep sizzling for a couple seconds and my first thought was maybe the water was dripping from the ELB into the Cloud. So when I tried to pull out the ELB, the glass joint came right off. From there on I knew the cloud was done and emailed SM. He told me to go to their support center and open a ticket. This way they could address the problem properly and discuss internally what the cost of a replacement will be, given the nature of the accident. I didn't get a response yet and still patiently waiting.

Alaac81, reading that story makes my stomach hurt :ugh: Hopefully things get straightened out for you soon! I bet your friend feels awful too

I was thinking the same thing as you a while back...You do in fact get a confirmation email when you place your pre-order. I happened to delete/misplace mine. I emailed VXL via the support portal on the website to find out that I had placed my order...If your 99% sure you ordered, then I would just sit tight and wait for your "you can order" email, and avoid over running them with emails/inquiries. If you really think that you might not have ordered though, then I would email them to confirm before potentially placing a duplicate order. You might first want to scour your email account and see if the confirmation is in there.

Add me to the list as well. I got mine on Friday.

Mrs PoopMachine couldnt wait to test drive it so I loaded it up with some high grade and off she went. 10 minutes later she was downstairs staring at fractals on her laptop so I would say her test drive was a success. Later that night, we both got to test it out with some Chocolope and I have to say, the unit lives up to the hype.

Willie, you want something negative, Ill give it to you. The unit gets a little hotter than I expected to the touch. Its not overbearingly hot but its hotter than I thought it would be.

Other than that, Ive already relegated my SSV to backup status. Its packed up and put away.

Ive got a couple of reviews coming up that I really should have posted before now, just had to take a break from FC for a bit. Look for my Oracle and Magik Wand reviews in the next week or so and Ill probably do a full followup on the Cloud.

I do have to say tho, this unit does live up to the hype. Its very well made, works like gangbusters and is everything StoneMonkey has been touting for the last couple of years.

For those waiting for your unit, I dont know when I ordered but it was sometime in 2010.

Purpl3 Haz3, you can add me to your running list of wildly ecstatic Cloud users. It's been a month now with the "collector's item" Vertigo tube and there isn't a day that goes by where I haven't felt anything but extreme satisfaction with my unit (well, and my VXC ;) ).

In fact, had some great Veganics grown flowers the other day and the purity of the flavor coupled with the clarity of the high (at 9:00pm setting) was beyond astonishing. Compared to my previous Iolite which did the job, but always had a bit of a plastic(?) flavor, or my beloved MFLB w/ PA which was great, but quite a bit harsh at times, this is just a different world altogether.

For those still waiting, I have no incentive to overembellish here. Admittedly, I don't have a lot of posts over the years as I've been mostly a lurker, but I'm still an enthusiast like the rest of you. When you consider that we now have a true GoG solution that moisturizes the vapor with efficiency and creates these great tasting, power packed clouds unlike anything I have yet experienced, I really don't know what there would be to criticize?

I think we all tend to get cynical during a product release as it so rarely meets the PR spin and we get so used to being disappointed by the reality, right? It's just a testament to SM55 and his team that after two years of waiting, and all of the hype generated while we waited, that they were ultimately able to deliver on all counts which is certainly the story behind all of the rabid praise!

Cheers, (and grats SM!)

I really love my current vape setup at home, but it's clear this will take the place of my beloved viVape.
