I feel like I heard that one of the major online glass retailers has a big sale around this time of year. Can anyone confirm that, and what the sale usually entails?

Haha, I figured on 4/20 sales, but I thought I read something specifically about March.

Anyone remember approximately how deep the discounts are? And whether sales start earlier in April, or right on 4/20? I'm assuming earlier, since ordering a new piece and getting it a week after 4/20 wouldn't exactly be in the spirit of the season. Just trying to decide whether to go w/ a local purchase or wait for an online sale.

I find that Local purchases are cheaper when it comes to Higher Quality glass (The brand namers Sys,Toro,RooR, ect ect. You must remember to buy your glass from somewhere with a knowledgeable staff or you run the risk of counterfeited product) When it comes to lower end glass, the smokeshops try to charge you up the butt for them. Even with discount. So if I were you, I would ask locally about the discounts they might have.

Problem is that I only have one LHS, and it was massively picked over last time I stopped in. Only one name-brand piece left (a 10" Grav Labs beaker) and most of the local stuff wasn't what I wanted, at least for the price.

I live in freaking ATL. We have a helluva lot of LHS's(the rap community has only expanded them more!). They're chains, one has 20 locations. Its gotten ridiculous. They compete not with quality products, but by slandering & talking bad about the other shops/chains, & particular things they carry. One of the largest chains talks bad on the MFLB like it were the freaking plague! It was the first time I'd ever had someone say negative things about such a great device. Granted, its not perfect, but at it's price point + size + accesories(etc), it's not "A complete P.O.S. ; but the Iolite we sell here everyday is far superior blahblahblah"(not talking bad on the iolite, its just what they carry so he compared it to MFLB). Anyways. Ive scoured these shops 4 over 10 yrs...Ive found a *FEW* decent pieces, almost all non GonG, & often of the Dry Pipe variety.
I frequented these shops over once each week throughout those years, as they are open 24/7, & killed boredom or gave us a reason to go out driving in the middle of the night with a destination that wasn't a damn drug dealers residence when we were young. This lead to buying something you would've never purchased in a sober state. Oh, my fabulous youth..lol. Im aware I made awful decisions back then, so carrying on now. I actually stepped into one(after ~6 months of absence) 10 days ago, to find long-time employees that had never heard of "stemless" - "splash-guards" etc .. the dude even got down & showed me this tube that "blahblahblah"(I stopped listening after he pointed out the "second dome-perc" that was clearly a very simple & commonly used style of splash-guard. LMAO), Im not sure what his point was, but I walked out 160$ less, w/ a GonG bubb with showerhead-ish diffused downstem & a REMOVABLE mouthpiece(something I've always wanted, like the Sheldon bubb for example). Now, this thing RIPPED, & I mean ripped! However, its quality is less than poor(joints are p a t h e t i c). Able to notice immediately in store & point out flaws(which didn't lower the price as were not funtional in nature), but each time I looked at the thing/used it, would find more faults & weirdness. Eventually decided it was literally harming my health(I have a mild case of asthma), as there is some LHS curse on that biatch which prohibits breathing if used. I likely will break it soon in a celebratory dance once acquiring my next piece of glass...looking for SG Stemline Natty.
Point of all this ranting is this: be aware of the LHS. This is 1 of many bad stories I personally experienced. Another bad one, at the 'other large chain', was the fake Jerome Baker tubes....which they actually hooked me as I was naive bait with a wad of cash on my b-day. $400+ asking price, but 'lowered it down for ME', so I'm bought it. I hadn't smoked in 4 yrs...I was way "stuck in the past". Had no idea JB had gotten out of the game a long time ago, nor anything about diffusion & perculation. This tube is a simple, run of the mill, 18inch, strait 50mm tube. Had sticker price of 440, no slide included. I NEVER use it, yet it cost more than a freaking SG Stemline. This company almost went under around this time; probably due to fake products.
Everyone, please be careful before purchase when sales come up this 4/20 season. DO NOT let a sale or special deal suck you in. Resist. If they are willing to let it go at 'X price', typically it should have always been @ that price, & prob. less. I'm done with local shops. I will only buy through the blower, person2person, or higher quality shops(such as those in green states like Cali!). The LHS's products + lack of customer support don't deserve business. Don't trust them if yours are like the ones here in the SouthEast of the US! Sorry for the long post.

Local glass store in Denver, Illuzion glass is doing a 4/20 special. You buy one piece and get another piece of the same or less value for $4.20. They will be putting stickers on the sale items, they said it will be a HUGE selection. I think it's in store only, but worth a call just to make sure. Pretty sweet deal.

Hell yeah! Kind Creations up in Ft. Collins is doing the same deal, but that might only be for KC branded glass. Didn't know about that Illuzion deal though. Might have to check one of those out if I don't pick up an EFS tube on sale.
