While the link didn't work, I went ahead and ordered one from ebay for 12.99. I'm a prime member so shipping is free, and I didn't see anything in stores that cheap. Thanks for the tips. Now to get in line for a PD...

Got my Black Walnut version of the PD last week I've already grown to love it! Above is the picture of mine. So far it seems more efficient than smoking (I've found holding the vapor in longer seems to help) and I can take the ABV stuff and add it directly into the lemon extract you see on top of my vape to create a green dragon tincture (I sometimes keep the bottle on top of my vape as shown because heat helps the extraction). Also, the vapor feels so much better in my lungs than smoke ever did making this purchase very worth it to me.

I feel a certain attachment to my vape, as if it is a trusted partner. I also just love the familiar warmth and feel of it in hand. Thanks for the great product Tom and Pammy!

I have a mendo mulcher (similar to the spacecase) ... I was considering a coffee grinder if the mendo mulcher doesn't get a fine enough grind...
Cheers.

I have a Mendo Mulcher and a coffee grinder- I'll give the CG an edge, but it works just fine with the MM- I usually just flip it upside down (so keef chamber is pointing up and teeth are at the bottom) when grinding for a finer grind.

Since the MM looks so much nicer (and fits in a low-profile drawer), I use it most of the time; but for pure function and efficiency, the CG wins.

Edit: The 4 pc MM is nice aslo for the keef chamber- keef tipped tubes and keef sandwiches FTW :)

Edit 2: I have the Proctor Silex CG as well- love the flat spot on the top- grind -> flip -> remove top -> sit top on desk like a mini candy dish and vape away.

guys you have to jump over the coffee grinder hurdle

coffee grinders are the only way to go

I have all kinds of different grinders and non of them get bud fine enough

you need a coffee grinder, and you want it almost like powder.

and just wanted to say I LOVE THE PD...def my daily love

my friends have all used it now and they ALL freaking love it

No they're not. My 2pc ti Space Case works just fine.

Not sayin' that coffee grinders can't do a good job, but they are not the only way to go.

ya know what... my 2 piece space case works just as fine as any coffee grinder ive ever used. I wonder if it is because the herb spends a lot longer time in the grinding area than it would with a 3+ piece grinder.
I've been neglecting my PDs past few weeks, only the good stuff for them, and haven't had that much good stuff, just regs.... but got some nice stuff yesterday. Forgot how relaxing a session with my PD can be. Got three stems ready and ended up forgetting i even had a third stem. :ko:

I like it almost like a powder, which you can't do with any 2 piece

I'll grind, then let it sit out for a while

then grind it again

this is person preference guys I know this, we don't need to go into this battle

I just like the fact that I don't need worry about "surface area" and breaking bud up after hitting it to get more hits.

When you grind it into powder when its done its done

personally I try not to get close to powdered herb. If it is too fine of a grind it sure is a hard to draw on when in the tubes.

No battle lowfront. It's just what happens when you state a personal opinion as fact.

"coffee grinders are the only way to go"
Nope. It's not the only way to go.

"you need a coffee grinder"
No I don't.

"you want it almost like powder."
No I don't.

It's just that a lot of people come into these threads looking for advice and when one states something as fact, I think it's imperative to let others know that there are other viewpoints here that are just as valid.

For me, I don't want my herb ground up into a powder. I don't want to have to worry about getting all the kief from under the blades and in the small nooks and crannies in a coffee grinder as well as what sticks to the grinder itself. For me, my 2pc grinder is a perfect match for the PD. I hit my PD thru my mini-beaker, and if the grind ended up too fine, it would be too hard to draw. I like an easy draw for the first draw or two. Does that mean that others wouldn't prefer a coffee grinder? Absolutely not.

Not a battle, lowfront. Just another opinion, that's all.

Beat me to the punch lwien. :D

My 4pc. Space-Case works just fine for me as well. For the PD I grind upside down and love the size I achieve, granted my grinder does dirty up much faster. Still, I like smaller particles for the PD than I do for other vapes.

I'm just here to gather opinions on this... being that I'm relatively new to vaping and the FC forums as well, I'm just looking to see what people generally find works best, as it seems people take these things pretty seriously here, and that's what I'm looking for :) Interesting to hear the different takes on things...as of now I'm working with my 4 pc mendo mulcher and my coffee grinder arrives in the mail tomorrow, so I'll give that a whirl as well... personal preference, I know, but from what I've read it seems most people seem to feel a fine grind works well in the PD. Just looking to get the kinks ironed out so I'm ready when and *if* I can snag a PD. Thanks for the varying opinions, i'll give the upside down grind a try tonight with my iolite.

I personally like my stuff ground up quite fine.... not so it likes chalk powder but probably close to ground coffee consistency. I find when it is ground up fine like this it actually stays in the PD stem better once I push it in a bit.

Also, I personally enjoy using a coffee grinder because of the consistency I like, AND because you get about 5-10 times as much kief as you would with a normal grinder w/ a kief screen. I like to use the kief to pack on the tip of my stems, so being able to extract more is also optimal.

Just my :2c:

Question for PD owners. I just got mine about a week ago and if i take it and give it a little shake, not hard but just enough I can hear and feel a little metal rattle/jiggle. Is this normal?

Here's my method of grinding and it works great. It's actually more chopping than grinding. I chop up the bud on a small square of cardboard using a razor blade. It allows me more control of what pieces actually get chopped and how. What little kief I lose to the cardboard, I just scrape off into the bowl with the blade. If you use the right kind of cardboard, the kief won't really stick to it too badly. Anyway, that's how I started chopping/grinding after trial and error with various grinders. It's a bit more work but not that difficult. Remember that scene in Goodfellas when they sliced the garlic with a razor blade? It's that same concept, I guess. If you take a little extra care, you'll get results of the finest quality.

the wooden piece included with the pd fits in the hole. pound that instead of a screwdriver.

btw, my pd rattles like a mofo. and i can not get it to stop. when the rattle first started i could re-seat that clip. now, nothing works. any ideas? btw, i know tom is busy right now so i figured i'd ask the masses. if i can't get a solution i'll wait until he is available.

at least it still works. but judging from what i've read on the subject i'm guessing it will probably die at some point.

My first PD didn't come with a wooden piece, but that was almost 2 years ago. The second one did, but the wooden piece was just a hair too big to fit inside the hole. I could have forced it, but then I know I wouldn't be able to get it back out again. Either that, or it would have split the wooden body so I stuck with the screwdriver method. Has worked great for me over the years.

That just happened...
What will make it dies is if you twist the assembly inside the log. Try to keep it oriented the original direction.

SSS, a second C-Clip (on top of the other one) will probably secure your HE even better, if nothing else its a second line of defense.

thanks elmo. btw, aren't you supposed to me "emilmuzz". i do know a little something about p.a.g.a.n. you know!

and hereatlast, that's a good tip. i have no idea how to implement that though. my mechanical skill is such that rainbows and fairies could live inside the pd and i'd have the same understanding of how it works as i do now.

SSS thats more than understandable. I don't want to get into specifics for fear of bad information so its probably just best to contact Tom and Pammy when they're back online. I'm sure you could get an extra C-Clip from them or from an auto-store, a simple but distinct pair of pliers and installing that clip requires little to no skill. Best of luck.
