If that works for you, great, but it's definitely not necessary given correct usage. i.e.
  • Hitting your bowls at a upward angle (bowl pointing upwards, not downwards)[/*]
  • Not blowing into the tube[/*]
  • Not placing the unit down with a loaded tube in it[/*]

If you do get stuff down there it's simple to get it out with no screen in the way.
  • Vacuum, especially with a small attachment that fits around the heat exchanger tube (on a cool unit)[/*]
  • Insert an empty bowl into the unit and take a few strong drags (with your mouth not lungs)[/*]
  • Gently tap the unit upside down[/*]

A screen won't stop gravity, and if you ignore it small pieces will still get through and into the unit eventually. It may sap some heat as lwien mentioned and will also make it more difficult to get anything out that does get down. I've been PDing for 2years+ and you couldn't pay me to put a screen in there. :)

Agreed. I've been PDing almost 2 years now and I have no desire to put in any kind of screen. I just don't see the need.

The DC transformer that came with my PD stopped working, most likely due to the wires near the plug end bending the wrong way. I've heard you can simply replace the plug end with a compatible one (size M) that can be found at Radio Shack. This apparently requires stripping back the wire casing and connecting the new plug using a soldering iron. I've never used a soldering iron or done any electrical work myself. I asked the guy at Radio Shack if he could do it for me and he said he wouldn't and that it would be difficult because the wires are so small. Has anyone out there done this themselves and can give me some step-by-step instructions? Thanks in advance.

when i replaced my plug i just matched the correct the wires and taped it up with electrical tape carefully. very easy and you can't even tell it was re-wired. i just used a plug from an old cordless phone that fit, though. it may be different with te radioshack plugs.

well i notice bud in the new back screen now all the time,

its nice to just use the thing and not need to worry about it


I don't like to pack down it makes hitting it too hard, so now I can just suck it in till it tightens. And throw the sucker in there.










So what does everyone do about time with this

meaning

I do you guys keep it on 24/7

or do you use timers?

just turn it off at end of night?






I think I want a timer, but I want a very small portable one

Did you use solder? That's the main part I'm concerned about as I'm completely clueless about it. I did find an old soldering iron and a coil of solder in the garage (probably from the 70s LOL).

nope no solder. i just stripped the wires, matched, and electrical taped up carefully so it didn't look sloppy.

Never done this for the PD plug but have fixed a plug in the same way getvaked mention. This plug was on a power-tool as well and it took a lot of stress, still going strong.

Radio Shack makes a replacement Type M plug 2 for $2.99. Funny stuff that a Radio Shack man would say this was difficult... :lol: He's probably an expert at... well, maybe which I-pod is right for you... :rolleyes:

If you plug the wall power supply into the wall (known working outlet, test it with a lamp or radio) and don't plug the PD in, leave it alone for 30 minutes... Come back and feel the wall wart with the back of your hand. Is it warm... the power supply is working and the cord (usually right at the plug) is busted. This is good news. A cold supply is dead (not likely, but can happen).

So, you cut back 4-6 inches of wire at the plug end and strip the wires. The plug has a sleeve, unscrew it and feed the wire through, twist the bare wire ends and feed them through the holes in the two lugs of the jack. Now solder... and what are some good prevention tips cause its seems like lots of people have issues with the power wire

I've been a daily PD user for almost 2 years now and never had an issue with the power wire only because I'm cognizant of the possibility of an issue and I make sure not to put any strain on that connection. Things like making sure that the PD is not sitting on the edge of the table but rather sits further back so the wire is draped across the table rather than pointing down, thereby.......less strain. Also, when I pick up the PD to use, I make sure that the connection is facing me rather than facing away from me, thereby putting less strain on the connection. I'm also really careful not to step on the wire so that no strain occurs. Again, just common sense stuff here. Some users wrap electrical take around the end where the cord goes into the adapter that plugs into the PD. I've never done that, but that should also help.

I have broken 2, both in differenty place, and both at the pd connector. it is fixcable, it is a small area to fix, both fixes are still working fine, small solder arrea a bit of electrical tape to finish and done. I did order a couple from the factory, now they are my backups. if youo built your pandora you can fix the end.

Hey all. Recently started vaping and also just found this site, and am really glad I did. I'm really excited about hopefully picking up the PD sometime in the near future when they become available, and I've read that most people seem to think very finely ground material works best in this vape. Just wondering what most people here use to get the job done. I have a mendo mulcher (similar to the spacecase) that seems to get the job done for most tasks, but, as I said, I'm new to vaping and am hoping some of you pros have some idea. I was considering a coffee grinder if the mendo mulcher doesn't get a fine enough grind...
Thoughts? My apologies if I've posted in the wrong thread...
