ok, I have tried searching the thread forever. Does anyone know the best place to order tubing in Canada. Somebody posted up a great place a while ago but I cant find the thread.

Probably not the best place but I pick up the exact size at home depot plumbing section i think. big roll for less than $10. It's vinyl but i just throw it out when it's yellow.

Planetvape.ca has replacement tubing for the Q, looks like it's the stock 5/16"x7/16" polyvinyl. They also sell a medical grade silicone tubing (which most here prefer) in 3/8"x1/2" and 1/4"x3/8", or in other words, a 1/16" smaller and larger (the larger IIRC is equivalent to the SSV tubing, which some here use). I also seem to recall a member here in the last month or two purchasing the smaller size and said it worked for him. Silicone has a lot of elasticity.

Personally, I stick with medical grade. While an industrial tubing should easily work theoretically since the vape temp is not all that hot, some types have been known to leech off compounds.

Hey guys, got the extreme a few days ago. Not digging the cyclone bowl at all. I've done the elbow pack and feel its the best way to use this thing. I was wondering if anyone else has designed a replacement bowl that works better then the cyclone? Read most of this thread about 91 pages. Seems older links to items no longer exist. Thanks

I've got another bowl from a top-mount style unit, but damn I just can't remember the product. It works but tends to get a hot spot in the center, so I don't use it. I would think - but don't hold me to this - that any whip bowl that uses a 18/19mm female fitting and a diameter that's at least a bit less than the Q's top rim, would work. Or a male fitting using a female/female adapter.

Have you tried the Search engine? If the links you're ref'g to are FC posts, I think they are all broken now with the recent changeover to new forum software. But you might be able to find those posts with Search and a boolean statement.

What is it about the Cyclone that you don't like? Maybe we can help with that.

The cyclone in good if filled and lightly pressed, but in some condition it create a little combustion because the air flow moves the Herb around, this is very bad .in the elbow there is not this problem but you must pre-heating and limitate the charge. So i decided to revolutionate the glass equipement to have better resuts taste and affect whit no more irritation and waiting to pre-heating.See my previous posts and you have a design of my uncentered rotating frist project. Now I am working on someting never seen before conduction+convection in a glass means extreme efficiency best taste dense vapor

Hey,

I've been browsing this thread for what seems like forever. I've tried searching through it, but I always get distracted ... haha! I decided to start back at the beginning but I'm impatient and am going to ask a couple of questions and hope that somebody feels sorry for me and gives me some answers.

Anyway, I've only had the Extreme-Q for about 2 weeks. It's my first vaporizer. I am a daily, heavy user [medical], but it was only joints. My lungs were complaining, as well as my wife [she hates the smell]. I had never tried a vaporizer before, or even a bong! All my pot smoking friends are just joint guys too. So, that being said, I don't know jack-shit about vaping. Actually, after 20 years of joints, I can barely hand-roll a decent joint either - haha!

I've been experimenting with the unit, with the help of this thread and youtube. My results have varied from excellent to lousy. It has been very inconsistent.
I think my inconsistent results are due to how firmly the herb is packed. I'm currently using the elbow pack method with bags. I've had much more consistent results with bags, although I have experimented with the wand.

Here's my questions. They've probably been answered somewhere in this forum, but I haven't found them. If someone could answer these for me, I would appreciate it. Links are fine too.

1. How tightly are you packing the screen in the elbow? I'm trying 0.10gr loosely packed. Tight packs don't seem to give off as much vapor. Am I wrong here?

2. What about when your using the bowl instead? Loosely dumped in, or tamped down?

3. It's supposed to be a 'cyclone' bowl. Should the herb be 'swirling about' when the fan is on high?

Thanks again. Great forum - lots of info - I hope I can contribute in the future.

the swirling produces smoke also at 185 be careful

Maybe this is just a matter of wording, but vaporizers should not produce combustion. I can't remember anyone seeing combustion at 185C. Always somewhere between 230-260C. IIRC Storz & Bickel, and independent reports, put combustion at 228C. But of course, vaporizer temps are not precise; the unit attempts to measure the temp as it leaves the heating element just prior to entering the bowl but as gas conversion takes place the temp drops quickly and the temp exiting the bowl will be much less. And, extremely dry herb will combust at a lower temp. But I would be suspicious of a malfunction or some other error if my unit was reaching combustion at 185C; should not happen.

ok at 185 no combstion but you can call it different vapor quality.when swirling along you have a not good tasting vapor ,try to keep the herb packed lightly but sometimes is impossible ,so all we prefer the elbow pack method .

IME this depends entirely on the herb and user technique. Through this thread I don't recall complaints about bad tasting vapor, nor suggestions to pack the cyclone. With the bag, only works well with the cyclone. With the whip, I use both cyclone and elbow, just depends on what I want to do at the time. But I've never noticed a difference in taste between the two, only the density. I stay in the 170-190C range, to the higher side if using the bag.

I don't get a good hit using the cyclone bowl by itself. I can't see this being a brilliant design and wish a glass replacement was made by now. I guess I'll try a different strain and see how it plays out, but with J-1 and it being a hybrid of 80% sativa and 20% indica, it just doesn't hit hard. I have a good indica strain I'll try.

I may also look into adding a small bubbler. Just odd there doesn't seem to be any custom glass or glass pieces people are using condensed in a FAQ already.

I'm familiar with xenforo forum software, looks like the admin needs to resubmit his site map back to google to fix all the broken links. I've tried searching with no luck. Thanks

So it appears what you're after is the heavy hits like a SSV or Da Buddha provides. Here's a couple of short threads where the latter is compared to the Q, might get some ideas there. If you do a boolean search on "extreme AND buddha" and "extreme AND ssv" you'll pick up several other threads which discuss better ways to use the Q's whip, elbow pack, etc. I think the general consensus is that you can get close to DB hits on the Q using the elbow pack, but there are those who claim heavy hits off the cyclone.

As far as a small bubbler, some of us use the Headford inline (there are a few others very similar but more expensive). Just a 1-2oz chamber but 11-slits, excellent diffusion, and a very nice donut splash guard. It's sold by ALT.

oh you can get heavy hits off the cyclone, just fill it up with .5 or so and crank the hit and inhale slow. Pow!

Is it safe to say that th cyclone is pretty much full?

yeah up to the black, don't be afraid... i know there is supposed to be cyclonic activity or whatever but i get wicked thick clouds when i load it, let it sit for a while to get the glass nice and hot, and puff on it in various ways with the whip at 200ish...up to even 215. that's just me.

Planet Vapes has some nice black leaf glass pieces for cheap which could work well with the EQ.

Thanks V4L, I found a bubbler I think will work to get the most out of this. Iill admit, I wasn't using much herb in the bowl, so I'll try adding herb to the black. I was using maybe 2x of what would fit in an elbow pack. I'll fill up the cyclone and see how ripped I get when I sit down with the family tonight to watch American Idol lol.

I think you will be VERY happy with your results. The cyclone bowl is big and inefficient. If you are using 2X elbow pack in there, that's about .2 or less probably, I can see not getting the best vapour extraction unless you crank the heat waaay up, and then your herbs will cache fast.

This is a really good point. I think that Arizer in having to design a bowl to accommodate both whip and bag, made a compromise on the whip side. A bag is ~8-12 hits, and given extraction efficiency, to fully expend the herb you need to go a second bag. That's fine for the multi-user or casual-sipping session, and consistent with other bag machines (although the HA delivers higher density with its pump). But it leaves the whip with needing to have a big enough load if the user wants thick density - or, using the elbow pack. I think that the choice of elbow pack vs a solid cyclone load comes down to potency of herb, where on the temp scale you like your vapor, and user tolerance level (i.e., number of hits required).

The only time I use the cyclone bowl is when I mix a hash with my herb. Pack an elbow hit of some GDP and then maybe some grape ape hash in the cyclone bowl. MMMM MMMM GOOD.

Ok, so I tried my indica strain and packed a full bowl in the cyclone. Wow, big difference. Hit it at 200 and had about 14 long and deep hits off the whip. For the first time watching American idol, I didn't want to reach in and grab Ryan seacrest by the neck!

Thanks for the advice, can't ain't until the bubbler arrives.
