Beautiful Walnut I received. It is the perfect size in my hand, and warms amazingly. Just tried some Organic Blueberry with it and am blown away, but in a great way. Truly a delightful experience with the flavorful spicy hits it provides. Haven't tested much but am happy at how it is performing and it's nice efficiency. Excited to try it more :) & i'm thinking her name is Layla as we form a symbiotic love relationship.

Jeppy, it's about time that old man sent you a shipping notice! Thanks for the patience.

ioright, I am really not sure if PD stems will fit the new CRZ. I think they will be a little small based on what I hear from folks using our stems in their PDs. Maybe someone else can chime in on this one.

Nice Walnut Zap, Ellusion. I remember spinning that one not too long ago.
I'll be turning some more today. I found some more walnut and Black Locust blocks yesterday and some Oak and some Chestnut................

Snowing again here in Zapville this morning.

Thanks for that tip on the tips Vito.
I do not have the sleeves on the website but will supply them if contacted via Email.
The new heavy 14mm GonG tubes work very well. I have a new favorite. Tipfulls are gone quicker for sure.

Rick, is there any decrease in performance while using an extension cable with the PS vs being directly plugged into the wall? If so, is there any way to avoid it with extensions?

Does anybody else have a problem with their DC adapter buzzing? Mine does and it's quite annoying.

I can't give you the "official" answer, but I can tell you that my zap heats up just fine with an extension cord, and I imagine that most of us use an extension cord since the supplied power cord is pretty short, and I don't know of many outlets right in the middle of our living space.

I did buy a heavy-duty cord just for my zap, but I'm not sure that was really necessary. One of the zap's major strengths is that it draws very little juice, hence the reason we can leave it plugged in 24/7.

Just grabbed a big ol' plain Jane and some GonG stems. I really appreciate your constant innovation Rick. The artisan craftsmanship and customer service you got is second to none.

Have a nice day!

Few more Zaps up on the website this morning.
More fun coming. Our CRZ design does make softer woods possible for use. Yesterday we cut some Western Red Cedar waste logs, too short for cutting boards, into Zap cants(3" x3"). This stuff is just about bone dry already so I will be able to do some turning and testing soon. The log we cut is much different than this pic with many more colors between red and white. If this works, we have an endless supply for Zaps and bubbler holders, as we do with blued pine. Western Red Cedar also does not have the heavy but pleasant smell of incense Cedar, used in Cedar chests, etc. It is very close to neutral on smell.

I remember smelling cedar for the first time when I was 3. It was the 1960's and my Grandma and Grandad had just added on an entryway to their home in Butler Mo. It had that awesome smell of incense cedar. The smell still stimulates those childhood memories of the John Deere factory and the Wonder bread factory directly behind their house. :luv:

Actually, I'm pretty sure that is Rick's new walk-in zap design. It's like a regular zap but big enough to crawl inside and just inhale.

Haha that would be awesome. Just take a group of people in and get stone cold cedar locked to the ground.. :borg:

My new Rock Zap-Out On A Limb has developed some cracking at the bark to wood interface completely around the circumference. There's also a vertical crack running from the bottom of the bark up to the wood portion, then it continues around the circumference to one degree or another. I noticed the cracking about a week after plugging it in, and it's continuing to grow. I tapped the bark around the larger cracks and it sound hollow that is indicative of bark separation to the underlying wood. It seems to be getting worse as time goes on. If this keeps up the bark will eventually spall off the wood completely. Has anyone else experienced this separation/cracking with other Out On A Limb Zaps?

Here's a few pics of the cracking:

Damn, I just had an answer all done and hit the wrong fucking key on this laptop and whoooosh, off she goes. We will try again.
Wolfman, we have only experienced the slight bark separation with the wood species you have in your out on a limb. The walnuts have never separated like that. We did find some of it way early in the game and fixed what we saw by slitting the bark vertically and using a wood epoxy to bond the bark back to the wood. They make a super glue like material formulated for wood repair which is what we used. Once the bark is bonded to the wood, it will never separate. The vertical slit will give the bark a little slack to sit flat against the wood when bonded. Your problem was caused by the unit being heated up thoroughly for the first time. Wood changes shape with heat but the bark did not change so pulled away from the wood.
You can try to fix it as I mentioned(regular super glue will work fine) or you can send it back to us for repair. If you do send it here, turn around time may be longer than normal as I need to get to another shop to fix it. Or, you can live with the slight separation for awhile to determine if it progresses.
Jeppy, sorry to hear your mailman went right on by today. We are finding the USPS seems to be prepping good for the upcoming reduction in services scheduled for May. I guess they need to practice first. My guess is tomorrow unless it got re-routed as does happen sometimes.
One reason I like the new heavy 14mm GonG is how easy it is to slowly rotate the stem while pulling for a more thorough vape of the stem tip contents.

Edit for larger pics.
Looks like that one was repaired at one time with the clear vertical slit in the bark.
This is a bark separation from the wood, not cracking of the wood. There are limits as to what we can do with wood that has so much heat going on inside. Often it takes months to figure out our limitations. A close look shows the bark still attached at the slit but pulled away further from the slit. The epoxy was applied on both sides of the vertical slit.

Thanks Rick. I'll get some Super Glue and use an insulin syringe to inject it down into each crack. That should hold it all together. I'll keep an eye on it. Other than the cracking it works great, definitely running hotter than my brass Myrtle and the heat recovery time is practically nothing enabling rapid repeated draws. :D

Good job wolfman. The syringe will do the job as it is a tiny space to fill. That is what we use. Be sure to wipe the surface clean right away to keep it all smooth. That shit sets up very quick and is very hard when it sets. Glad to hear you are happy with her performance. That's the key.

First day of spring. A shot from my new 360 degree pan, 90 degree tilt outdoor Chinese camera. Very cheap with no writing anywhere in the package. The fucker works though. We are still going to get some shots of all the Elk roaming around this place. Shot from above our house, due North.
