Favorite stand up comedians?

I realize they are not stand up artists but the members of Monty Python, individually or collectively, are responsible for more painful laughter than just about anyone else. Thank God for PBS bringing Monty Python and Fawlty Towers to the US.

I also have the Fawlty Towers series, and it's one of my favorites. Don't you just love the "German" episode? When I think of John Cleese goose stepping around the lobby I crack up every time.

"the germans" is a real good one, particularly like the comments he gave to the nurse. but if i had to pick my favorite it would be "gourmet night" especially the scene where he gives his car a damn good thrashing, after he warned it.

Dennis Miller is my least favorite comedian (if you can even call him that). What a f-ing putz! The only thing about him that would be funny to me is a piano dropping on his head! :lol:

Richard Pryor, Mitch Hedberg, and George Carlin are my favorites. Listening to their stand-up always leaves me cracking up :lol:

Not surprising you'd list those together. I saw Nick Swardson doing a special on Comedy Central and was surprised how much he reminded me of Dane Cook in what he said, his mannerisms, etc.

Joe rogan is good, but my favorite is Sam Kinison. Talk about passion in what your doing. Kinison is the man.

Bob Newhart! Yes folks, he used to do stand up. My favorite is the hung over father at breakfast. Also the bus driver instructor.

Don Rickels was a funny man. Fast too. You didn't heckle Rickels.

Most modern comedians just don't seem funny.

How did Seinfeld ever make it? His stand up is worse than water-boarding. IMO :2c:

I love Seinfeld (the show) but just can't stand his stand-up, I cringe at the beginning and ending of every episode.


Reggie Watts is one of my new favorites: he's a musician as much as a comedian but I think he's pure genius. His style and persona are definitely 'otherly' but I really love that he is so multidimensional, very philosophical at times. I highly recommend people check out his 'google talk' on youtube, his recent HBO special is great too but not quite as good IMO. Any other Reggie Watts fans?

David Cross is probably my favorite stand up comedian of all time, because he thinks just like the little voice inside my head. And if any of you have never seen Eddie Murphy "Raw" & "Delirious"........ Do yourself a favor, and put that shit on your netflix NOW!!!! Classic, his best work for sure.
