The many faces of vapors

There are folks that have just started vaping, and then there are the pioneers. I had actually
used a old homemade 'hippie' vaporizer back in the early 1980's. I just called it the pipe that doesn't burn your weed. I knew some people who sold home made jewelry at fairs across California. I would go visit them in Pleasanton every year and score some of the good skunk they grew in Humboldt. When I used the vape way back then, I couldn't even understand the concept. I couldn't understand how it worked without burning the weed.....They showed me the abv. I was amazed! I also wouldn't vape again until the late 1990's when I became a MMJ patient and my doctor, Tod Mikuriya recommended it. This thread could actually provide each other with a little more knowledge of vaporization as well as a way to share members memorable experiences. When did you start vaping?

I am a vapor pioneer among my friends :D started vaping at age 16

first vape was one of those soldering irons fixed inside a glass jar, piece of crap! It's amazing how much vapes have evolved!

Lost in Thought
Honestly, I am still a relative 'noob' when it comes to vaping as I have only discovered it in the past several years. As far as being a pioneer - Amongst my friends I am a God among insects.

Vaporization has WAY opened my eyes to cannabis and made me appreciate it much more thoroughly (which is even cooler cause I am going through that 'older person realizing more shit' phase) :D

The biggest issue I have with vaporization is it can get a bit lonely... I am passed the point of trying to 'convert' everyone to the 'truth'. But like they say - Its lonely at the top ;) (But at least I have my vapes to keep me company)

AG..... I got a little tear in my eye there....

While I've been partaking for 45 years, I've only vaped for about 3 years now. Everyone that I have turned on to vaping has now made the change and loves it. But, I've found "in my old age" that not that many people partake anymore. And what's happened here is that I have become a fiend! I have more paraphernalia now than I did when I was younger!

Vaping has changed my life in a huge way. Diagnosed with my autoimmune disease back in 2005, I failed on Morphine after 4 1/2 years on it . . . bad way to go, withdrawals were the worst week of my life, by far, no question. On permanent chemo therapy now, just one of my drugs, the human monoclonal antibodies used to turn off parts of my immune system, costs over $54,000 a year (just saw the statement from my insurance company yesterday) . . . Anyways just started vaping a year ago and it has changed my life for the better. First thing that happened was my blood pressure came down to the normal range. Doctors told me I would be taking Micardis forever . . guess they were wrong :) Weight has come down to normal, I was really bloated from all the meds (9 different pills right now), and of course the pain management and nausea management have been extremely nice and I just feel so much better. 99.9% of the time I vape alone. No one to convert or show. I talk about it when I visit the dispensary but I don't go down there much any more and really they are too busy to listen to a sick, old guy like me. And that, my FC friends, is what my "face" of vapor looks like.

Thank you for sharing a bit about your life with us t-dub. It sure inspires positive beliefs and hopes in the thereputic effects of MMJ. :)

Your welcome Jeppy. One thing I forgot to opine about is what my doctors call "unintended consequences". Because they are altering my immune system, and don't really know what they are doing, we have these consequences, or side effects. Sometimes my body is screaming to find homeostasis. Its a sick, hollow feeling in your chest that is miserable. Combine that with chronic pain, nausea, and metabolic discomfort (sweating, hot flashes etc) and you have a recipe for quite an interesting day. Cannabis helps me deal with all of this unintended crap that comes from the type of medicine I am in.

I used to use hot knives and old metal curling tongs stuck in a gas cooker flame and heated in the 80s. It was basically because it tasted so good and I couldnt workout how such tiny amounts were getting us very medicated.
As long as you didnt let the metal get glowing hot it wouldnt burn it would just char it, I now now this to be vaporizing :) and only realised a year ago when i rediscovered it as it were.
I just used to knock the bottom out of a glass bottle and use that to inhale the vapor. Im trying to find a good set of tongs to use with my laser thermometer at the momen. Would be great to do some round the fire hot tong sessions again this summer :ko:

Haha great post AG!

Sometimes when I use my Magic Flight I can imagine myself showing it to my grandkids in the distant future. Have them marvel over its simplicity of design and use or watch them laugh and call it "stone-age" while they proceed to show me their space-age laser operated vapes that run on dark matter or something.

I can honestly picture a MFLB as a museum exhibit one day!

my journey was much like scottio19, bought one of those BC vaporizers for 115 cdn i htink or so. this was back around 2002 or so i think. maybe 03? Super pissed off at wasting my money on that and went back to smoking for 3-4 more years. I was in toronto visitng a friend in 2006, his roomate was a pothead and had a vaporbrothers. he sold it to me for 100 bucks because he was moving to australia. this was my first decent vaporizer. i ended up selling it for 40 bucks about a year later.

then i got a really nice income tax return so i said fuck it lets buy the volcano. lets see what vapor is really about. did a bunch of research. decided the classic was the better buy for me and had that for a year and a bit before i discovered this awesome forum.

I was reading a rage comic that was talking about the mflb. i wondered what this thing was after hearing about it 2 or 3 times on reddit rage comics. so i google mflb. and FC comes up!

OMG my mind is blown wide open. there is a vapor enthusiast community!?! :D never looked back, and look at my vaporizer list now :p haha

So i bought a mflb, was amazed at the portability, flavour and stealth. this was it, I was a convert!

try to convert all my friends. they all agree it's awesome, but never spend the cash to get it done. (i buy them presents though! :D)

one friend did take the plunge, and he owns the mflb, and vapolution 2.0 now :) he also has my volcano too.

grew up taught "drugs are bad mkay", then at 33 or so i finally did my own research. i spent about a year and half reading, watching, talking, listening, (some of it includes being here) etc...then i grabbed a bag of vapor from a friends volcano and ive been in the clouds ever since. initially combusted but within a couple months bought a vapor genie glass and now have the mflb.

i concur its a lonely way to toke (least for me) but in many ways i prefer that, be it the vapor or just my personality i tend to elevate the best when alone, i find being isolated removes that extra layer of reality (other people) towards pure awareness...so im very picky who i choose to toke with.

"the brain is a television set for which consciousness is the signal", not sure where i got that from but i tend to think of continued vaping as making fine adjustments (got squelch?) on psyche and perspective for which id imagine there is no end, hence an ever changing face.

Enjoying the finer things in life
Been using weed as self-medication for 8 years, trying to get rid of daily debilitating headaches, and all kinds of other shit coming from it.

I just started vaporizing three weeks ago, and loving every aspect of it. Bought the cano after 8 long years of combusting and I'm certainly not regretting it, mainly for health concerns. I'm also planning on buying the MFLB and the SSV very soon. Once I have my MLFB i will stop combusting completely even when I'm not home. I'm also really enthusiastic about the FC community. No one vapes around me, they all smoke shitty grit weed mixed with tobacco, a real shame

Personally I always aim for the finer things in life:lol: = Self-production+Vaping !!!
