There are many factors involved in comparative analysis, the wood species is certainly involved. Even your altitude or ambient relative humidity may effect the experience, the room temperature is a big variable, along with draw speed, and material used and it's condition. Mass used, and time over which it is used, are part of the equation too. And we all accept that different substances are released at different temps.

Crap, nobody has taken up my altitude questions, what's up with that, let's here from the scientific minds around here...

Well ? :2c: :peace:

Well, my mind is DEFINATELY not scientific, so I can't offer a thing...........but, Sneezy, I love the ash. Love the way it looks. It's not as smooth as the Cherry. You can kinda subtly feel the grain patterns which is kinda nice. It definitely runs at a cooler temp than my cherry, and yet, the vapor thickness is almost on par. My cherry runs warm. ABV comes out a pretty 80% dark chocolate brown, 20% a lighter brown . Ash comes out 3 or 4 shades lighter. The vapor itself is a bit smoother. It's a nice change from the cherry, but I also have no doubt I'll visit the cherry again. I like 'em both and happy I have both.

But yeah, as far as environmental temps and altitude, I'm about 900ft above sea level, ambient temp is between 70 to 75, humidity around 60%. Bud ground to between a medium and fine grind. I never dry it out, so it can still be a bit sticky when I load her up. Always load up a full bowl for a pretty tight draw. Quality is the best the LA dispensaries can offer up. Draw speed gets me 2 hits from the bong and another 3 lighter hits directly from the stem thru the cherry. Through the ash, I can get 3 bong hits with an additional 3 lighter hits directly from the PD. I'll empty out the bowl in my hand after the 4th hit, and grind up the abv a bit with my fingers and reload for the final hit or two.

Hope that helps for comparisons sake.

I got my HVY mini a few weeks ago. I love it. However make sure when you order it that you send an e-mail asking for a diffused downstem. Now they ship just a standard downstem unless you ask for a diffused one. Big Difference in my opinion.

hey tom, i just noticed that on your website under the quick links in blue-"accessories" is misspelled.

dragging over something from the pandora thread regarding the accessories:

i absolutely love the porta-billys. i've got the walnut and maple. i've always been into boxes and containers. especially small stash ones. the leather in the bottom is the perfect touch.

Iwien, ever start a stem in the Ash and then finish in the cherry? I don't do it often, but admit i really like it when i do have Ash next to my cherry or walnut and i rotate them. I know you only use one or two stems a day, so you might enjoy switch hitting (as Ash would like to call it). Food for thought.

Yeah, Krazy. Did a bit of that too. Thanks for the tip. Fun playing around and experimenting a bit.

I remember when FC was young (last year) some of us experimented with silicon tubing attached to the PD tube and it does work well and affords certain advantages, such as rendering the PD almost hands free, and the extended path does seem to cool the vapor a bit. A very simple optional add on that is worth playing around with.

the only thing i don't like about the tubing is that expelling spent loads requires more lung power, unless you detach it, and then the whole thing becomes a bit of a pain in the ass.

Hey Tom -

Let me take a stab at it. Elevation and atmospheric pressure are inversely proportional, i.e. there is lower atmospheric pressure at higher elevations. A liquid is said to boil when its vapor pressure exceeds atmospheric pressure. Therefore, the higher the elevation, the lower the temperature required to "liberate" vapor. So I would guess that they don't just call it higher because of elevation.

Ice Water Filtered PD hits (On the Cheap)
OntheCheap-1.jpg

Its just a Mason Jar with 3 holes in the lid. One for The PD tube to the bottom of ice water jar. Another for the hitting tube, and a hole/carborator.

It works well for the price (free). The PD stem is barely on so a person can take it off to load/unload. I keep the PD on its side.

That's a great cheap solution, looks good. I'm waiting on an EHLE 250mL bong and my purple days vape to get here (had to order from ebay since they're so backed up) vape on!

badjuju,

you should take the time to read everything. also it is pretty clear how long the wait is going to be if you just read the threads. you can always order a pandora kit if you do not want to wait as long. I know you did not mean to sound rude, but your first post came off like it a little bit..... questions are ok (I ask all the time) but you should at lease make an attempt to find the answers by reading first.

you are probably going to push some buttons with the way you wrote that post. :2c:

I did find this:
Part of the PD Experience went out through Sixes, OR today. About 10% of the remaining backlog. More on the way soon. Still not sure what will happen after we finish the list. Might take a week or two off. Till then I keep on. Meantime we take no orders and take no names. If you want a PDP you can build it, those are on track and on time, due to our Wood Turner and Laser Man and Pammy helping assemble part packs and burn DVDs etc. She really helps out. thumb
but I couldn't find an estimated date that they'll be available for general order that's all I was asking and I'm a college student so I (currently) don't have the knowledge or tools available to build it myself that's why I used eBay. I'm just looking for a date if possible and if one is not available that's fine as well.

badjuju,
there is currently a waiting list that is closed. so at this time, there is no estimated date. I would say (guessing) that the people at the end of the list will probably have to wait at least several months. if you go to this thread.

http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=905&p=23

edit, it seems like the wait might be closer to 6 months..... If you do not want to wait order the pandora kit. 3-4 weeks. seems like from most people it is pretty easy to build.

If you have purchased one from ebay then this is all a moot point.

Welcome to the forum Badjuju. Not sure why Ob is coming down hard on you, but welcome.

We will probably have the wait list at Vapenow cleared out in the next 10 weeks. Till then we are taking no orders or names. After that I may take a week or two off. And after that there will be no wait list. But, none of that matters since we aren't taking orders or names till then.

you did not get to read the first post as he edited it out. I was not trying to be "hard on him" I just wanted him to read the thread. the answers were there. and it does not matter anyway as he already ordered one from ebay.....

Sorry I guess my responses sounded harsher than I meant them to. Bottom line is that in order to make an informed decision you should read the threads and also it did not really matter in this specific case as badjuju had already ordered one from eBay

I apologize for my tone badjuju and tom...

No worries ob not at all your fault I realized after that I probably should have gone through the previous couple pages it was just that there are 231 so I wasn't exactly sure what page the info I was looking for would be on so I assumed people that have followed this thread from the beginning would be able to point me in the right direction :) Once again thanks for your help the reason I'm interested is the item I ordered on ebay doesn't come with all the accessories so I'm looking into getting a complete set maybe a special type of wood from http://www.purple-days.com/ once it's available (never hurts to have two maybe one for home and one for school :p). Thanks Purple-Days I appreciate the personalized response good luck with all the orders and enjoy the time off when you finish!

Heck, its the very best time to be in the Northwest - Mid-August/Sept. One week would be two too few.
(I mean to say three's better, but I'm not really sure what I said)
