im getting a minutely flickering button light when I use two 5 ohm carts on the double top in 7.4v mode, is that indicative of anything or just occurs with normal use? I remember seeing something about someones button flickering but a quick search back 10 pages didn't find anything.

edit: here's a video I did in the dark so you can see what I mean.

that was pulling for a 5 second button hold, I paused for a moment and pulled for a 2 second button hold, the light went out because I stopped pushing the button - but the flicker idk.

Since the Thread is going kinda slow ( everyone is out enjoying their Persei) I thought I would post a picture of the drip tips I have and would like to get some input on it, especially from OF and Bruno13 please.

I took my persei tip out and compared it and it don't really look like there needs to be any filing done at all, but you guys are the experts. You also said that it shouldn't touch the bridge since it causes leaking issues, so maybe I do in fact need to file it down a few mm's. It looks like the notches are the same though as in how they would fit in. Only difference I can see is the bigger O ring on the persei tips.

As Bender would say (before taking a picture) "Neat!". I especially like the middle one.

The difference is in the bottom area. from the oring to the very end of the tip is shorter then the other ones.

hmmm can you send us the top? we will compensate you when we ship it back.

It does seem like a battery issue, but then again we have to make sure.

Yeah, I can send the top. A Battery issue, really? Isn't the blue battery supposed to be the potentially bad one? I actually havn't tried the 3.7v setup with the double top and 5 ohms to see if it still flickers.

Edit: just tried double top 5 ohms with the 3.7v battery and it still flickers.

Just curious bruno instead of using a mirror have you tried using parchment paper instead? Was wondering because I find you can manage the oil a bit more with paper, but never tried it on a mirror before, but assuming you scrape it off the mirror. Thanks again for posting a full video of your technique though!

No, I tend to use what ever I have around the house. The video was meant to get ideas rolling. Thanks for the input. That is one reason I like FC, bouncing ideas around.

Also, on the drip tips, as thc said, the difference is howmuch is past the o-ring. Look back at my picture and you will see there is not much material past the o-ring. I don't know if you saw my other response to you, ie, if you live in the LA area I will file them for you.

speaking of bouncing ideas around, here's my makeshift persei travel case. Used a manicure kit, and it works well but it's far from perfect.

I see it now, looking at it closer now. I'll just wait until you post the extra tips on D9V, and get some carts so I can combine shipping. Any word on when those are dropping? I know you said in a few days :)

Very generous of you to file them down for me bruno, unfortunately I don't live in Cali... YET! someday I will, hopefully sooner than later. Your right about getting ideas rolling, great forums are usually the best for this. Just speaking with experience, parchment paper is the best for oil, besides a oil jar, but I've never really had enough to fill up, so parchment is my #1 go getter. Very cheap for a roll and goes a long way. What I like best about it, is you can get the oil remains on the paper to stick to other parts of oil, to eventually gather it all and just have one ball/glob of oil in one spot, it's like magic! :o

just curious, what kind of tool did you use to file it down? I might try and see if I have enough elbow grease to do this. :)

aah, you talked me into it. Now I have to go out and buy some parchment paper.:)

I think any file should work. If you don't have one and are going to buy or borrow one get a fairly fine metal file (made for metal that is).

You want a flat file, obviously. Best grade for the job (and general work) is a "Mill Bastard", IMO. Second best would be "Second cut" (hey, they pick the names....). Longer ones are easier to keep square, 8 or 10 inches is probably a good size.

Ask 'em for "an 8 inch Mill Bastard flat file" and they'll know right away not to mess with you.....

If you think a bit, the only thing you can file is the bottom below the o-ring. What you really want to do is add material above the neck so the whole thing sits a little higher in the tube with the o-ring further up and solid neck further down. Can't do that, of course, but THC can on the new design. You have to file away most of the lip below the ring on the ones I've done, rotating the part as you go helps keep it square; work on the 'high side' toward the hole in the center.

BTW you only need a to clear the bridge in a small spot, the pressure will build slowly.

I don't think you will be dissappointed, just remember the best way for the smaller bits of oil to stick to the bigger part of the oil on parch paper is to stick it together and pull away fairly quick. If you need help let me know and I'll make a video or something, but hopefully the way I described it is understandable :)

Thanks for the info OF, I'll take a look at how much it cost as I don't have much money to invest and would prolly just wait for the tips and try and mod this one tip I have with a metal file tip from a dremal tool I can borrow, from friend.

Been out of town and finally returned and had a week+ to test out the Persei properly....

as a 3.7v it works well just like the omicron. I then tried a single 5.0 ohm cartridge with the 7.4v setup and that worked very well for about 30 hits and now it leaks like crazy. can clean it out and it just leaks some more. How much heat can these carts take? I am giving it 10-15 seconds at 7.4v

tried the double top cart and it created the biggest mess I've ever managed to create. This thing amplifies the good and bad characteristics of the omicron.

lol cracked me up, but yeah continuous button holds are for 2.4 ohm at 3.7v

For 1.5 ohm at 3.7v or 4/5 ohm at 7.4v you really need to regulate the heat yourself. I hypothesize that the heater in these gets too hot and vaporizes the oil as soon as it trickles in leaving the center hot and dry.

Try two seconds on two seconds off but aim for an almost steady vapor stream since it will still produce as the heater cools too!

I pull fairly hard at 7.4v. I got my first gnarly leak out the bottom of a cart but it was a 2.4ohm at 7.4v.

Actually yeah if you really want to hold the button you should be able to get to the right temperature by drawing fast enough, sounds like it could get messy though...

nope just ordered a pack of 5 ohm and a pack of 1.5 ohm. Guess I need to get some 3.0v batteries for those 4.0 ohm carts I have.

I got the mess cleaned up from my failed dual test. That was 3.7v btw: My issue here seems to be getting both carts primed without clogging. I really dont like the new tips either. especially in the double configuration. Also got my lone 5.0 cart working but its requiring some priming to get working after sitting.

I think 4 ohm carts work fine at 7.4v... they seem a little less harsh than the 1.5's to me.

EDIT: I just had to charge my Persei batteries for the first time, holy shit the red light on the charger is bright! It's like a freaking gun laser...

Tried dual 4 ohms at 7.4v today,
