Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

Not to stir things up, but I find my self curious.

Shred, if you were not happy with how it was performing yet it was functioning properly, why would you want it back when it will function the same way that dissatisfied you?

Just curious.

PS: It does seem harsh to refund someone for something they waited so long for, but I imagine there must be a valid reason.

'Cause you always want what you can't have. :brow:

Reminds of when I broke up with this girl 'cause it just wasn't working out, but then 3 weeks later, I saw her with this other guy, and then I wanted her back........big time. Too late. She moved on, and it drove me nuts.

Moving on, I mentioned this over in the availability thread, we have asked our friends at VapeNow to stop taking new orders for the Purple-Days Diffuser. We will complete all existing orders before new orders are accepted. Looks like 14 weeks of production if all holds on schedule. And that will eliminate this long waiting list.

A hold up of one shipment and a complete loss of another has made the waiting list get out of hand.
Wow, sorry to hear that. Can i ask what happened? Complete loss? I am imagining a big shipment of PD's getting routed someplace incorrect and the recipient refusing to give those puppies back. I wouldn't want to either. For any who have to wait 14 weeks, it is really worth it in the end. Once again, i might suggest a variable temp vape to hold you over, which in the end will make a great 1 2 punch.

Edit: I read the availability thread and got my answer. Wow, sorry to hear it. You mind if i ask how many PD's were in the shipment? I just hope wherever they are, they are being used and appreciated as they should be. Someone somewhere might have a big shipment of PD's. Have people been keeping their eyes peeled on ebay and the like? Whoever has them, may be selling them off individually. I can't imagine everyone would want a PD plugged into every house outlet like me.

To many people think the same as you... thats the problem!!

Edit - Apologise if I misunderstand, been a long night...but that quote dont ring right to me. Regardless what the shipment is, if it aint due here id send it back...even if it is the mighty PD rocking horse shit.

Because i know the whole PD Story, I WOULD, give them back. I know how hard Tom and Pammy work, and how patiently some have been waiting for their PD's. I would never want to do anything to fuck Tom over. Great guy. Great product.

But, if $3000 worth of highly in demand product showed up at my door step I wouldn't really "want" to give them back. especially if i didnt know the whole story like i do now. You can't just ignore the money aspect. Imagine having never vaped before, getting 20 or more PD's at your door step and trying them out. Wow! Then imagine finding out how in demand they were. Got to admit, it may be tough to "do the right thing" when no one even seems to know where the box went. Someone is likely swimming in PD's. HazyDayz, i am a honest guy. But if those showed up, it would be temping for any mj enthusiast to keep the whole lot. I guess it is either keep them all, or keep none. Can't exactly keep one or two for yourself. Imagine having a PD for a few days and then having to send it out, and pay full price and wait 14 weeks for a replacement. Might be tough. Thats all.

But yes, considering what i currently know, i would never take a shipment away from honest people. That includes future PD owners, but more so Tom and Pammy. RIP missing PD's.

At work we accidentally received a shipment of silver bars once. heavy bastards. wrong address. i looked on the internet to check their approximate worth, this was several years ago but i want to say it was around $10,000. They were all returned. someone would easily loose their job over a mistake like that, ooops. But same as the PD's i really didn't "want" to return them. human nature.

Oh well, just one of those things that happens. You never know... it might show up some day, but I have serious doubts. It's a very strange set of circumstances that surround the 'loss'. But, this gives us even more reason, to put a hold on new orders and get caught up.

About two years ago when I first started getting into vaporizing I ordered the SSV. A week later the post office guy showed up with TWO boxes from 7th Floor.
One addressed to me at my address, one addressed to someone else at my address. I knew what it was - because I'm human my first thought was "holy shit two vaporizers!" - I immediately
caught myself and said, "No only this one is mine" and I emailed 7th Floor and alerted them and they thanked me.

**edit**

by the way I just googled craigslist "purple days" and this item came up which was "deleted by the author" from Portland -
Herbal Vaporizer .... Purple Days!
This is a genuine handmade cherry-wood Purple Days vaporizer. These units are made in Port Orford, OR (buy local!) and there's currently a 14 WEEK waiting ...
portland.craigslist.org/wsc/bar/1641525609.html

so maybe that's a clue as to the whereabouts..

I love my purple days, only had it for 3 weeks so far but I use it every evening but if a box of them arrived at my doorstep I would notify the carrier so they could come pick it back up. As good as of product as the pd is I feel that every vapor user should own 1. each one of those pds someone paid for, and waited for and is extremely excited to get it in their hands. how sad man, what if that happened to all of us who are happy pd owners. I would send back ANY package that made it's way to me by mistake though because you know what.. they can track that during an investigation. sure it would be nice to have a free laptop or pd or whatever, but what if someone comes knocking one day and you have to explain yourself. I'd rather save myself the embarrassment. I wonder if someone who works for the shipping courier new what they were and stole the package. im sure package handlers get used to seeing certain addresses and putting 2 and 2 together, maybe they knew the sweet sweet baby pds were inside.

Our store will do the same thing as Tom did, and we have given money back to a person who just will never satisfy, so we never have to do business with again, and they never get our hand made expensive product. Sorry for those who must wait again.

I've got this vision in my head; remember the last scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when they are in the big government warehouse, full of crates?

It is entirely possible that the recipient of the wayward box doesn't have a clue what the contents are used for. But, I also had the thought of looking to see if they show up for sale on e-bay, etc. There are alot of dishonest people out there, ready to make a quick buck; especially in this horrible economy. :/

Mom, true, if I didn't know what "purple days" was, I'd probably think it was a light show projector although it says "aromatherapy diffuser" in the box.
Any miscreant can type it into google to get an education, though.
Whatever, it is what it is and I feel bad for Tom and Pam and the waiting customers.

Flyer understood exactly.

On the missing package. Lots of us are honest folks, honesty even gets me in trouble sometimes. But after hearing about the TV show where folks (80%) are willing to physically hurt someone for a prize, or because someone says it's OK, well I'm disappointed, but not that surprised at the results. Oh and ,"each one of those pds someone paid for..." Yep, me. Including materials and labor and any profit. A little over a week of production. And zero to show for it, except another 10 days work to make up. Live and learn. CYA! :o

Not good at all but not much you can do about it I suppose. I take it the package wasn't insured? Even if it was that doesn't change the fact that you're however many units and hours behind production. The chances are they were stolen from a sorting depot along the line rather than ending up on someones doorstep. I used to work as a courier/van driver and once had someone try to load an empty plasma screen box onto my van! Its a good job I noticed and told him where to stick it as I obviously wouldn't have been able to deliver it and wouldv'e also taken the blame for stealing it when taking it back to the depot! It would be worth keeping an eye on ebay, craigslist etc as it would be difficult for someone to sell them without being noticed considering how few get sold secondhand.

Wait, buyers are charged $180 at time of purchase, and it is VapeNow who is sitting on the interest? That makes me even more irritated that their waiting list management was so poor.

Wow Tom, thats rough losing an entire shipment. :o Thats alot of work to have done and money spent for nothing. Hope it all comes together. Shouldnt UPS cover that? I would think that they would pay for the missing product eventually. Still that much farther behind in time though. Bummer.

Back when I was still just reselling vapes I had a package of Iolites never arrive here. It took awhile to sort it out, and in the end I did get replacements but the original shipment never showed up. It cost UPS quite a penny, I would assume, as it was a fairly large order. I've also had one of my Woodeez never arrive at its destination before I started to use priority shipping with tracking numbers and delievery confirmation.

Edit for spelling.

Life is a game of choices and then for some of us, lessons learned and growing up.

Or more simply put, "karma."

My understanding is that UPS doesn't show a record of the package arriving at their depot (although the driver remembers picking it up). If they have no record, Tom is SOL and out the time, $ and energy. Such a shame on so many levels.

Once I had UPS pick up a pair of audio speakers to be returned and I was given a receipt and that was that.
Also - one time someone I know had reel to reel master tapes damaged in shipping, he put in a claim and UPS did reimburse him.
Only Tom has any real insight on what could have gone wrong and how, and there's always the chance that the missing PD's will appear.
Sounds like a Perry Mason episode - "the case of the missing PD's."

When I was in college in Buffalo in the 70's my apartment was pretty much an open house, of course that was normal behavior in those days.
One night I went out to see The Ramones and The Dictators at the college, when I came back my '68 Fender Stratocaster was gone, missing and the door was unlocked.
This was during the winter - Buffalo, if you can imagine.
You can also imagine how pissed off I was. About a week later I'm in my apartment - my door still unlocked - and i was throwing darts at the dart board (my roommates and I tacked photos of us on the dart board as a joke) - anyway out of the blue some strange adult man walked up the stairs and walked into my apartment into the living room holding my guitar.

"Excuse me, I believe this belongs to you."
"Yeah! Wow, how did you.."
"My son broke into your apartment and stole it, it's been sitting in my backyard all week, I didn't know what it was. Believe me he's going to be punished for this."

I thought the guitar would be trashed, sitting in the freezing blizzard snow for a week.
It played OK though - then over the holidays I brought it to Gracin's, the repair shop in Long Island where I grew up, and the luthier said it's fine, didn't even need a setup.

 Good one Jeff.

Sounds like your karma in college was pretty good.

I'm sure Tom would like to be done with this and move on to more positive stories about the PD :2c:
(Although I'm sure it's nice to know how many people are supportive)

I know I'm looking forward to posting my first PD experience sometime in the future.

mom of the goons - that's a great name. last night my daughter called me, she's eleven, and she told me she was at a party and she was sitting in a jacuzzi with two boys. they asked her if she wanted to "lose her virginity." she told me she walked up to both of them and "smacked them both." then they all played hide and seek and she hid in a dryer! then somehow it turned on and she yelled and one of the kids opened the door to let her out before returning to his hiding spot. then after hide and seek they made prank phone calls and they yelled "penis!" to whoever they called...
goons i tell you...

I hope to shit you made that up.

Seriously, if your 11YO daughter is allowed in a hot tub with two boys and there are no adults to prevent the sort of behavior you describe - you have some considerable problems.

I am certain I would be having a face-to-face with the fathers of those two "boys" asking how they would like for THEM to lose their virginity in prison! That would be after the police arrived at this "party."

they were all 11; from what i understand the adults were having dinner and the kids were in the backyard.
i tend to be more hands on as a parent and i trust my daughter's self reliance.
you can't prevent interactions; there's summer camp, etc. - you can only hope to teach good survival skills and mindsets.

I would be an absolute basket case if I were still in that situation, I wish you a lot of luck. Thank god our son was "raised right" and is having to endure all that with HIS children now. I cringe when I think about what I see on the web even accidentally popping up in a pre-teen's browser or email. (shit, just look at my handle!)

Actually, I would probably just be any modern young girl's worst nightmare - a daddy who won't let her have "ANY FUN." ;)

Sorry - way off topic here, I'm done. It's a different world than the one I grew up in that is fo' sho'!
