Anyone who didn't get in on the sg preorders and were hoping to pick up a sg tube later, like myself, we're shit out of luck. Sg will no longer be making any trees for vapexhale. This was confirmed by Brian of vxl just the other day. I'm really bummed about this bc I wanted a sg preorder, and even bought one during the first release. Let's just hope they bring in some more sweet artists to make beautiful, functional tubes (which I'm sure they will)

We're really disappointed that more people won't get to experience the HydraTubes with the Sovereignty Gridded Tree as well. We had an extremely limited amount and a few of them also saw their demise in transit. As everyone knows, Sovereignty is in extremely high demand and the man only has so much time to make his masterpieces. I'm hoping in the future we can get more gridded trees from the man himself but for the foreseeable future, there will be no additional HydraTubes with Sovereignty gridded trees.

We have been speaking with additional artists and have worked on our own HydraTube designs as well. Once we fulfill our pre-orders, we will gradually release the additional HydraTubes.

I'm sure you can find a replacement in that department and maybe even for the best, once the cloud will be out massively in the market - I'm sure it will be easier for you to find glass makers but honestly I don't care what I get ... ! :)

But if you grind super-fine wont the ELB's get clogged pretty quickly?
Even the manual talks about a herb "shredder" so I assume the finer the better?
Maybe not quite MFLB fine though ;)

I take "shredded" to be more coarse, not fine like a coffee grinder. The manual says you can "break up your herbs by hand", which also implies more coarse than fine. Given the air turbulence the Cloud creates in the ELB and how a really fine grind can pack in and restrict flow, I take all that to mean that a medium-to-coarse grind is best. There are other comments about this on this and the previous thread.

Surface area is the name of the game. The finer the grind, the more surface area of the herb is exposed to the heat. This is why it's best to have a fine grind. Of course "you can" use coarser grinds, but it will not be as good. You don't need to worry about clogging unless you are compressing the herb down VERY tightly in the bowl.

It's the same concept with kief. You will get much better results with powder like kief, as opposed to compressed chunks.

I highly agree with your statement. Fine grinding has completely changed the vaping experience for me, and makes the difference in cloud size so easily apparent to me. I like coffee grinder fine grind, works every time, much better than my 2 piece med. space case which was good, but not AS good, and definitely not as easy.

edit: i'm sure SM55 can chime in on the best type of grind and what shredded refers to, although i'm almost thinking this has already been discussed?

I understand all that, and ordinarily would agree. I had just thought based on earlier posts from those who had used the Cloud that with it "the finer, the better" rule didn't particularly apply, that is, there is a point where it didn't matter and fineness might actually start to become a negative. But anyway from what I recall, opinions have varied.

This is the only applicable post I could find from stonemonkey:

The Cloud is meant to be used with ground herbs. For me, I like to use any grinder with a pollen sifter in it. I like these types of grinders because I feel that it gets your herbs grounded down in a consistent manner. When I use a two piece grinder, sometimes I will over grind the herb. For the Cloud bowl, I found that the size of herbal material is perfect from any three piece grinder as it allows you to take a few rips, stir/crush it down to finer pieces, then take a few more rips to get the remaining actives.

I confess to being rather limited in the grinding arts. I have a 3-piece grinder (well, I think it's "3-piece"; the grind from the top 2 sections falls through to a 3rd section on to a very fine mesh sifting screen under which there is yet another chamber which I assume is for the kief). I clearly don't understand the process well enough, because I don't quite follow what stonemonkey is saying.

So OK I know I'm being lame about this, but I want to get it right when my Cloud arrives. Help please from the Cloud users who are also grinding experts! :ko:

forsure too fine will impede airflow and clog the screen, as does kief. Thanks for bringing up SM's post. So by overgrinding i'm assuming he's refering to what I just stated. he also mentions stirring..

With the hydratube on top (or any other piece that keeps the cloud upright), ber-fine grinding should not be an issue unless packed extremely tight (since the air-flow blows the herbs against gravity causing them to stir/fluff nicely).

When used upside-down, however, the herbs could compact under the screen cap (term?) of the ELB.

It's funny though because even though intuitivly you would think fine means impeding airflow, and it may somewhat, but you can also get some of your biggest clouds that way, just like SM55 stated, he crushes down to finer particles. When I tamp a little, it increases the heat and more surface area vaporized and thus thicker fuller extraction.

just wondering do you need to fire off the screens. i fire off my screens for my vape now. Just an habit

I did this and did not notice any smoke , so I am pretty sure that they are free of industrial residues, but always better safe than sorry

I am sure that a finer grind can allow for bigger clouds, as it exposes more surface area and allows you to fit more herbs in the chamber due to fewer/smaller air gaps in the chamber.

I don't agree about packing the herbs down, as that would leave room for air to enter the ELB where there is no herb and the airflow is (therefore) more free.

My experience with the Cloud is limited, but I feel that full and fluffy or full and somewhat packed works best in the Cloud.

I even had a vision about an ELB that is twice as long for those times when alot of relief is needed urgently (or a half-sized ELB for when you just want one or two tokes, but still want to fill the ELB for optimal performance).

I know (get orders out first, and then focus on continued R&D for the virtually-unlimited potential add-on's), but a man can still dream, right?

Toke it easy, all.

any word on when the sgw showerdomes will be ready to ship?

ShowerDomes are getting ready to ship in the next couple of weeks.

@grestroke - keep us in the loop and whether you need help tracking down the package.

RE - herb consistency, my preference is to use at least a 3 pc grinder so that your shredded herb is shredded but not to a powder like consistency. I like to pack mine anywhere from 25-60% full. We've found that you can pack it all the way, but for the best combination of airflow and even vaping, 25-60% full seems to work best.

Coffee grinders and two piece grinders allow you shred the herb until it is almost a powder. We found this to be a bit too fine for the Cloud so if you use either of these options, make sure you don't overgrind your bud or you can clog your Cloud. I think a good rule of thumb is, if your shred is working great with your current vaporizer, most likely it will work well with the Cloud.

It has been a long journey for us, you've been there for most of the journey so really happy that you are having a great first impression. I know that we both started off using heat guns and hopefully this becomes your go to vape. Keep us in the loop as you get more familiar, I know I'm just as curious as the rest of the folks.

stonemonkey55,
high Stonemonkey?! Just wondering if there are any vertigo's left unaccounted for? I must have ordered the showerdome, am i too late to switch to a vertigo to get it here quicker? Its not that i cant wait, its just that i dont like too! Wishing you a smooth ramp up to full production!

If you're enjoying it with your 18 inch ADS than that means it should work just fine with the 2 foot Swiss perc by Dizzle.

I'm bummed to hear that the the SG Hydratubes are sold out. I guess all of them were allready spoken for when I pre orded one back in March of 11. I'll just have to wait for my confirmation email and pick the SGW or Vertigo (both awsome blowers as well).

More motivation to get a custom hydratube like set up from Mad Rob.

Hi, Sorry to bother the Forum again with the same question, but i still have no answer.
Not in the Forum and no mail from vapeexhale Support.
I want to make sure my vertigo hydratube is still waiting for me.
I just do not want to Pay 147USD for Express shipping. But still that is the only Option given when trying to finally checkout. I mean that is nearly half the Price of the cloud itself.
Please SM55 don't let me done after waiting for two years.

Apart from that i World have had my Order in on the Same Day my registration was confirmed.

I actually finished a full ELB with the cloud at its lowest setting (plus a little air constriction via obstructing the intake).

Tasty tokes that fade to a sandy/floury taste and then nothing at all. :D

We would have tried again, unconstricted, but father time stepped in and broke up the party. ;)

I look forward to trying SMs recommendations about packing the ELB to test against some of my initial preferences.

I'm glad you're enjoying the Clouds in Withcataw, Jackstraw! :)

To be continued... :brow:
