Lost in Thought
While I cant say I was a 'fan' as a grownup :p I listened to the SHIT out of your stuff on the radio as a kid.

May peace have finally found you Mrs. Houston.

I heard this news last night and while I wasn't surprised, it saddened me. What a waste. She was so talented.

But it also got me thinking this morning......BOBBIE........

here for the chicks
I to am not a fan, but I guess I did like her at some point since it was this lady that created the first single I ever bought back in '87.

I was a little shocked when I saw the news today. But even though she was still fairly young she didn't seem happy for a long time, I hope she's a little happier wherever she is now.

I went to a concert but it was cancelled (as we got to the gate, which was kind of a bitch)...that was back towards the end of her streak of albums.

One of the things about living in the media bubble is you believe you have some relationship to the stars, hehe, and I commiserated with Whitney, judged her, rejoiced for her a couple of times.

I'm sorry to hear it's probably suicide, but I'm not judging...yes, I am, stupid bitch...FUCK (crying now)

edit: drown in tub after taking some pills, so unintentional, but just as sad.

Wow, looks like the early reports are she mixed Xanax with alcohol (bad combo) then drowned in the bathtub by accident. Sad.

I just took another listen to her singing our National Anthem at the SuperBowl. No one, and I mean NO ONE, has ever done it better.

Latest TMZ update: "Whitney Houston's family was told by L.A. County Coroner officials ... the singer did not die from drowning, but rather from what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol .... We're told Coroner's officials informed the family there was not enough water in Whitney's lungs to lead to the conclusion that she drowned. Our sources say the family was told Whitney may well have died before her head became submerged."

I was hoping this would be ruled as an accidental death rather than an OD, for the family's sake. Doesn't look like that is going to be the case.

Let me start by saying that I hate to see people die from anything to do with drugs or alcohol......but......

FUCK THAT....and here's why.......

Whitney Houston was a pop idol, a superstar with an angelic voice but she died a washed up drug addict......

What did we do?????? We celebrate her as an angel taken from our hearts too soon.......BULLSHIT, she was struggling with the grasp of addiction and needed help.

She was alive as a singer, she died as a drug addict and we killed the opportunity to teach our youth and troubled children that addiction to hard drugs can kill them.

What did we do?????? We failed to talk about what we need to learn from this......I'm sure if angel Whitney was here, she'd rather have left sharing her music and the message of how important it is that be very aware of the risks of drugs and alcohol.

People are a crazy animal

Oh yea, and fuck all of the friends and family who didn't help the ones who tried to help Ms. Houston, when she needed help and thank those of them who did.

I don't see those two concepts as mutually exclusive. Yes, imho, she SHOULD be celebrated as the voice of an angel taken from our hearts too soon along with the sadness, and anger of the scourge of addiction taking another life.

While in life, she gave us that incredible voice, I have no doubt that for some, her death will save some lives of others.

How many recovering addicts along with their family and friends believe that just because alcohol may not have been their drug of choice, that they can have a glass or two of wine without triggering their past addictions (although in her case, alcohol was one of her drugs of choice)? How many non-addicts believe that they can take a Xanax followed with a few glasses of wine and truly believe that there are no dangers even if it clearly states on the prescription bottle, "DO NOT TAKE WITH ALCOHOL"? And now, how many of these people will give it a second serious thought before proceeding, due to this tragedy.

Shit happens and all we can hope for is that lessons are learned....................by some.

The media adapts the story so not to focus on the whole truth, that's what's offensive.

Are you suggesting that she didn't know she couldn't mix booze and Xanax?

Kinda like Hendrix and the "didn't know his German amphetamine pill needed to be quartered before the dose was correct?
Or the sad loss of Kurt cobain, due to him blowing his head off with a shotgun. He was a grunge god and his own personal pharmacist, as he medicated himself through manic depression. Where did the media side on that death?

Sounds like you've been watching O'Rielly? ;)

In my opinion, the news media should objectively report the news and refrain from subjectively taking a side on anything, but unfortunately, objective news doesn't sell air time. But........subjective, opinionated news, especially if it is spun to appeal to it's target audience, DOES sell air time.

I hate that dude, I'm a Jon Stewart kinda guy.

Don't forget that they've opened her funeral to the public and TV, in addition to, theres a uncoming 2 hour Whitney Houston special. Count how many times they say rehab, addiction and health risk.

On that note, did you see that Colbert Report was mysteriously canceled the last two days. Comedy Central nor anyone form the show is commenting. Very strange.....

I enjoy watching John Stewart as well.

^^ LOVE Jon Stewart. Watch him every single night. But even though I disagree with 95% of what O'Rielly says, I watch him also for I feel for me, it's important to try and understand where the other side is coming from.

Hannity, on the other hand, every time I watch that asshole, I want to reach through the TV screen and punch him in the face. lol

Yeah. Hope everything's ok. Stewart did the same thing awhile ago and it was because one of his interns committed suicide.
