Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

Been a few days since i checked in , you got it together Tom , a nice straight forward kit that is pretty hard to screw up , you pre test breakable parts and really what is there to test , a resistor, maybe the dc jack and power adapters , warranty, blah , what for , no offense but a monkey can put these kits together, you have already done all the brain work and precision tooling , they should be very easy to assemble ,and seriously , pretty hard to screw up , rock on Tom

ps has Pam ever thought of adding some custom PD embroidery to some of the carrying bags or covers , more than likely real time consuming but she does some good work , be nice to see

Yep, test everything.

One item on the PD that would change on the PDP... I use a turned hardwood dowel glue it in and chop it off on my Power Miter Box. I would change that to plywood and have a precise depth stopped recess to accept it. Glue it in and it will be flush. Then glue the leather on. Even gonna provide a clamp for glue up. Just like I use in the shop.

Just got the new Hitachi 13 in from UPS. Glad to have the second press, as some things are better on one that the other. (the big press won't run upside down). Some other tools arrived yesterday. One not so hot, but the other one will be used on every single PD. The Hitachi press too.

Back at it.

Is the preferred method of ordering still through the vapenow.com site? I still have 189 pages of this thread to read but I am pretty sure I will end up ordering one.

ordered. Might take 10+ weeks to read through this thread. Everything I have read is getting me excited. I guess the ssv will have to tide me over.

I played around with the logo and letters, super-imposed on the sun and just by themselves, neither looked so hot. Not sure what the logo will be
raycgg.jpg

Maybe just a simple box around the logo

:buzz: I see another competitor is copying the Purple-Days ideas. The MZ/WZ team can't seem to think of anything on their own. :2c:  :buzz: Woodeez Wax, Myrtle Margarine?

The original PD is still using Bee's Wax from the chemical free Tahuya River Apiaries. :buzz: and all natural plant oils to make our own Buzz-Butter. :buzz: Will they start using our little buddy Buzz, too? We will see... You are, what you is... :disgust:

Just a thought here.... I am thinking the box should have a lid that has been opened possibly...like Pandora's box :2c:

I love the buzz butter and enjoy buttering my PD. Each time I do I sit back and look at how it is aging. It seems to gain some depth as it ages and it is really striking! Love it!!

I personally love the whole PD experience and enjoy dealing with folks I feel have been straight shooters... The PD experience has literally changed my life for the better and I couldn't be more pleased. If I was starting all over I would still choose to wait for the original :D :2c:

:buzz: Buzz-Butter has been Fun and about to get FUNNER. Coming very soon Buzz-Butter will be made including real :leaf: Organic Hemp Oil :leaf: derived from :leaf: Cannabis Sativa :leaf: . Always trying to improve. :buzz: Still using Organic Flax Oil too. :buzz:

Thanks for the comments lo. The aging that Cherry does is something you don't get with the 'others', it's a characteristic well know by woodworkers.

I tried to draw an opening box last night, but without my drafting table... computers aren't my thing for drawing. And the design nust be very simple as it is going to be about 1/2" tall at most. Very graphic Black and White to translate to laser on wood.

Yeah the graphic would have to be pretty simple... In my head it looks lovely...as things always do in my head :D

I envision an open top box with perhaps the rays perhaps emerging but probably too complicated for the size/scope of design. I'm sure whatever you decide will be good and clearly identify kits from built units.

Tom, are you saying you came up with the idea to make a non-toxic beeswax based wood finish? If so, there are tons of people you should be very upset with. I even read on a number of sites that beeswax has been used on wood for hundreds of years. How old are you? I am in the process of making a similar wood finish from information I gathered from the web. There are a few places that give recipes for the wood finish. Have all of these people stolen the idea of a beeswax based wood finish from you?

Is Tom the first one to make a beeswax-based, non-toxic wood polish? (I doubt it).

Has he ever claimed that he was? (I doubt it).

Is he the first to market such a product (to be used on the Purple Days) and call it "Buzz Butter" (probably).

I bet others have made sugar-based carbonated and caffinated beverages before Coca-Cola (thoughts? :brow:)

Toke it easy (at least try to ;) ).

This is like asking if you can have a new thought. If another company is trying to market stuff very similar to his product then he has the right to be upset. I doubt he will argue that he came up with the idea of beeswax wood finish.

a little searching and I found this

http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3955999.pdf

Someone patented the idea back in 1974. The internet also told me that a patent last 14 or 20 years.

Of course I'm not claiming any such thing. Our site clearly states that this is a formula used since the time of the Egyptians. And the patent office has given plenty of goofy patents, so don't hold them up as the almighty reference either. ;)

No I didn't come up with the idea, I have credited my shop teacher (1970) and the Pharoahs among others. What I am saying is this duo has a habit of copying others. They don't seem to do much innovation. Follow the leader. And this is just another example.

The troubling thing is they always seem to take a step backwards. :2c: I don't see references to Chemical Free Apiaries or Organic oils in the stuff they make. Might soon though. ;)

I spent a lot of time looking into (what some call research) soap making and bee culture etc. to come up with my own non-toxic formulation. For use on a Non-Toxic vape of this design.

Thinking about other ways to distinguish the P-D Pandora.
Maybe a different and distinctive leather.

Hello...I am quite new to vaporizing, but doing thorough research, I have found that 1. the purple day vaporizer seems to be the best value vaporizer for me. The first thing is price, as quoted above "You can probably tell, profit was not the only motive. Yahoo, PayPal, IRS, UPS, Suppliers, Overhead there isn't so much pie left. But, we refuse to cut corners. Good value at prices everybody could live with and understand. $150 as a base price seemed to be it." (purple days inventor). I looked at the website, and the base price seems to be 180$. 2. thing is waiting list. 10+ weeks? I think it might be worth the buy, if I get to purchase it at 150$, and if I remember I bought it in 10+ weeks. lol other than that power to purple days. I have many friends who would buy this in a heartbeat, except the 10+ week wait..

if you follow along in the thread, tom has been doing all he can, including buying new tools, to get the wait back down to a reasonable time. and think of this as in investment. its well worth the wait.

agreed... if you have another vaporizer just hang with that until you get the PD. there are other good vaporizers but the PD is something special and worth the wait.
if you don't have a vaporizer at all, maybe you can find a good used whip vape locally on craigslist for a few dollars and then when the PD arrives you'll have an ideal setup for both personal and party use. if you need more info this is the place to research...good luck.

Sorry about the confusion , Jofroxp, the PD started at $150, later, after oil and politics drove the cost of living higher along with the cost of raw materials to mfg and postage etc, the cost went to $180.

Waiting in line at the PD stand is up to the individual. The line is what it is.

Had to fix three things on this Hitachi drill press, but it works well now. The old one ran and ran. for a garage or small workshop. Hitachi B 13 F. Ignore the silly ass lasers on it, worthless IMO but a decent press at a good price.

I like the Elk Hide too. Something completely different, don't think much of the black snakeskin (cowhide) now that I look at it more.

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but several years ago, I bought a really nice wooden sculpture and the sculptor gave me a can of his beeswax based wood finish. He branded it with his name on it.

Providing finishes for the PD/MZ/WZ seems like a natural thing. Sure Tom, you did it first... but wasn't Rick making AZs years before you started making the PD?

I recently purchased a guitar from a guy who just opened shop in my little hick town. As part of his deal, he included a case and some guitar polish ... just like his competitor down the street. I don't think he was trying to rip off his competitor, he was just trying to provide a fair value.

Nothin' wrong with that. :2c:

:peace:
