I've had a chance to use it more and also took some pictures.

Notice that it not only uses convection to warm the load but also conduction. There is a mating surface on the main unit and the underside of the bowl so that once connected heat as one. This really helps get things going.

The metal portion of the bowl gets pretty hot. I think they kept the lid plastic so you don't burn yourself.

It heats up much quicker then a volcano. This is good because of the "dead man" switch that must be toggled to get it to cycle heat. The logic behind the switch is sound. You can't for example keep it held and have the device cycle. It must be toggled. This is to keep you from falling asleep with it grasped in your hand I figure. lol

The vapor flavor is very good. The first few pulls it is better then a volcano because it is so fresh.

I'll keep using it and update with more of my thoughts later.

Elmomuzz: You actually CAN keep it held and have the device cycle endlessly, and I prefer using the Plenty in this manner by "locking" the heating trigger switch using a zip tie. I can slide the zip tie to the other end of the switch to release it so keeping it held is optional based on if I'm in a session or going to walk away for a while. Personally I just use the on/off switch and leave the heating trigger locked with zip tie all the time. I have left the Plenty on maximum heat like this for over 1 hour and have had no issues with it overheating, etc. Personally I think the logic is to save energy/electricity, as most Intl. societies are more energy conscious. My German parents were always super strict about heating our house or using the AC too much, so I know all about saving energy! It would be lovely to hear feedback from S&B directly on this forum post about the reasoning behind their design...Then we won't keep guessing and false rumors or ideas won't be passed around as much.

I stand corrected!

I don't know how I got to thinking otherwise. I just checked by letting it cycle through a few times. Wow I'm zonked. lol :ko:

I'd be careful about this, as the instruction manual says doing something like this will void the warranty. I guess they probably would never find out that you did it unless you told them, but I doubt they'd put that in the manual unless it increased the likelihood of it causing problems with the unit.

Michael from S-B did talk a little bit about this in my interview with him on my podcast (You can hear it here: http://dopecast.libsyn.com/webpage/dopecast304-the-ultimate-plenty-vaporizer-review)- he said safety was the main driver behind this design.

Thanks Dopefiend, I actually enjoyed your review last week. I guess I should re-read the instructions again, kinda just skimmed through them;) I haven't intentionally left the Plenty on for more than an hour or two, on the highest temp settings, and it did feel very warm but not too hot to touch anywhere on the outsides. Maybe longer term it could damage something so I will be careful to only leave it turned on for my sessions.

I really have to stop listening to dopefiends great dopecasts!
After hearing that glowing review, now I'm really itching to get one.
I was surprised you said that it stands up pretty well against the Cloud...Very impressive!
I assume the flavor would be a bit better with the Cloud? I know that they are both very different but do you prefer one over the other yet?
The cooling coil is a very interesting idea and it seems to work quite well.
I only wish it had a car adapter...now that would be nice!

Thanks again for yet another great review dopefiend!

BTW...did you say you use the Cloud at full heat?

Thanks guys! It's really good to hear that you're finding value in these reviews, it makes the effort very worthwhile!

Ville23- I have used the Cloud at full heat, though normally just kept it at the midway point on the dial. Sadly it burnt out after 3 months. Apparently the issue has been resolved in the newer models. I miss it!

My only complaint with the plenty is I wish it would go a little hotter. I like it a lot though.

I got a 140 watt inverter from Walmart for $20 that works great for use on the go. I'm awaiting a pelican case to store it in.

We just got our shipment in today, so expect to see it in US/CA local stores in the coming 1-2 weeks. All of us at the office were a bit apprehensive at first about the design, but everyone who's used it for a bit has come to love it--it functions flawlessly. No digital gizmos or flashy displays to mess with, it's very back-to-the-basics. Very much a 'function over form' device.
Awesome news! I will definitely will be putting some money towards this beauty. Cheers!

A couple questions for those who have the Plenty. First, does the cooling coil keep its shape, or is it basically a flexible line that can be bent into any shape? Second, I saw on a couple vids that the connections at both ends of the coil could be loose; e.g., that the mouthpiece comes off, and the coil detaches from the bowl pretty easily. Is that a problem?

It keeps its shape. I tried to bend it and it didn't go. I didn't want to force it. Maybe you can bend it if you give it more force, but to me it looks like it is meant to stay coiled. It is connected to the base/mouthpiece with small pieces of tubing. So far mine has stayed on strong. As you'd expect of S&B, it is a well built item. Very solid.

Thanks. That's what it looks like in the pictures: a coil that stays coiled. There are at least a couple videos on youtube that show the coil straightened out and bendable, so I was curious. Looks like a nice unit.

Has any other forums members gotten a Plenty? It really is nice. For now it has replaced my volcano as my go to unit. Is there an anti S&B sentiment here or is it really that uninspiring to most people? I've tried quite a few vaporizers and many are kind of disappointing. The plenty I am happy with. :)

Can you compare it to the solo?

I own and frequently use both. Here is my opinion.

Plenty Advantages:

Better hits (much)
Better temp control; ABV is more evenly browned
Holds much more in chamber

Solo Advantages:

More Portable; no chords
Heats Up faster
Smaller chamber = Tend to use less
Almost half the cost if you shop well.

If you are going to use it mainly at home and just want the better hitter, go with the Plenty. You will not be sorry. It is the much better desktop vaporizer. If you are looking for a portable unit, the Solo is the one you want.

Anyone is free to label and compare vapes as they please, but by FC standards the Plenty is a home vape and the Solo is a portable.

The Plenty takes some practice and experience to learn it's nuances. I am now up to speed and can proclaim it to be koav (king of all vapes). Well not really. :D But it does rank up there in the top echelon of existing vaporizers. It delivers the full satisfaction of a volcano but with improved taste. The only caveat is you gotta work for it. I am feeling inspired to make a video...

I have been reading these forums off and on for some time now. I am a long time smoker who has tried to switch several times now. I owned a Volcano at one point in time. I ended up selling it. I have also own the IOLite, Magic Flight Box as well as the Extreme Q. I never really use either of them. They just don't seem to do it for me. I love smoking out of a water pipe. I like to load a bowl and down it in one hit. It is fast and I can move on to other things.

I decided to order the plenty and give it a try. I was impressed with the vapor production. After I was done I still fell like okay I am ready to smoke. I ended up loading a bowl in my water pipe and smoking. I am not sure the hose method is going to do it for me. I need to figure out a way to adapt the Plenty to work with my water pipe.

I ordered a second chamber accessories for the Plenty. I am thinking I can use some tubing and a adapter to connect to my glass on glass down stem. I am hoping that will help me feel more satisfied from vaporizing.

Sometimes I wonder if I just prefer combustion because it produces more canaboids then thc. Every time I vape I just feel like I am missing something from the high. I am hoping some of these newer vaporizers like the Plenty and the VapeXhale cloud can help me transition away from smoking. I think my lungs would appreciate it in the long run.

To each his own (my parents still combust) but most around here would really disagree with your statement about combustion producing more cannabinoids. More like destroys. I hope you find a vape that gets you off smoking (have you heard of de verdamper?) b/c I always feel like I'm missing something from the high when I combust....only vaping releases the compounds I'm really after. Good luck!

Yea I figured that comment about how much cannabinoids you get vaporizing vs burning might strike up some controversy. It might not even be the canabinoids that I like. It could be some other thing from the combustion. I just always feel like I am lacking something from a vaporizer high.

I would like to switch don't get me wrong. The trick is finding something that works for me. That piece you mentioned is interesting. I am reading up about it now.

I am heating up the Plenty for a 2nd test run now.

I just did another two sessions with the Plenty. I am pretty surprised at how well it works. I find that it does a great job at making thick clouds of vapor. It reminds me of the heat gun I used to use. I ended up holding it up to my water pipe. I like how that worked. I am really impressed overall.

I want to write more but I broke a bone in my right hand this weekend. I am down to typing one handed.

I just got a chance to try the Plenty for the first time and I really loved it. After going through the instruction manual, it was really easy to get setup and going. The flavor was great and heat up time was minimal in my opinion. I had some friends over and found this much, much easier to pass around and share vs. my Silver Surfer. It was nice not having to deal with the wand/whip of the SSV, and we found the Plenty so much easier to use as a group. It was nice not bothering with stirring all the time too, and this didn't seem to affect the performance. I would still say that the SSV tastes better compared to the Plenty, but I believe that the ease in use would make up for it for most people. Perhaps the taste will also improve a bit with my unit once it gets a little more broken in. The only major downside with the Plenty is making sure the bowl is full enough to prevent your herbs from moving around, or having to put the liquid pad in to make up for the extra space. If I'm only trying to vape a little bit, my SSV might be a better choice for me. I was overall extremely impressed with the Plenty, and can't wait to do a little bit more testing on it.

Pros:
Solid build quality
Adjustable temp with temp gauge
Very easy to use (especially with a group of people)
Cool, smooth vapor
No acrylic hoses or glass parts that will need replacement
No chance for herbs to come in contact with heating element
Lightweight
Can rest on table during use without exposing table to hot surfaces.
TÜV Safety testing ensures a very high grade of safety under operation.

Cons:
Price (somewhat high compared to other vapes with similar low-key tech)
SSV or DBV will provide better taste & higher efficiency at lower price points (albeit with more hassle)
Is not compatible with worldwide voltages (there are 110v units or 220v units)
Double Helix Cooling Coil looks quite strange, so expect remarks when others see it for the first time

I was planning to sell this vaporizer as used once I was done testing it, but now I'm not so sure... I really like it and will probably keep it, because it was just such a pleasant experience to use.

I would have to agree what you said here comparing the Solo and the Plenty. The Plenty provides much higher quality vapor than the Solo, so if you can go without the battery of the Solo, you would be better off with the Plenty (performance wise). The Solo is a really awesome portable, but I'd say that comparing portable vs. home vaporizers is sort of apples & oranges. Just like a desktop computer is much more powerful than a laptop computer, you should expect the home vapes to be better than the portables. The Solo is one of the best portables out there, but it still can't compare to a solid home vaporizer. In addition to what GreyArea said, I'd also like to add that the vapor from the Plenty tastes much better than the vapor from the Solo.

Your right in saying there is something missing from your high for you when you vape instead of bong.. What is missing is all the nasty toxins (benzene and tar for example).... believe it or not that's what's hitting the spot when you have your water pipe and that is what is missing from your vape hits... I've been there myself, read this thread from when i first joined - my situation was the exact same as yours - I couldn't imagine leaving the bong behind for the vape cus the vape just didn't hit the spot...

take the advice i took from the people in the link below, just stick to vaporizing for 2 weeks and don't bong... before long your situation will be turned round and you will prefer vapor over smoke and smoke will no longer hit the spot , in fact it will taste and seem dirty to you.. (seems crazy i know but read that thread all the way through and you'll see what i'm talking about)

You could buy or use any vape in the world with any technique and it wouldn't hit the spot for you at the moment.. because whats hitting the spot in the bong is the nasty stuff in the smoke that isn't in vapor

Hope this helps
