I have had one for almost a month now and its a great piece of kit, definitely not as good as the volcano cos it uses far more herb but when your not trying to conserve and just want a nice silent vape you can just leave it on your lap toke when needed and get some massive clouds with its perfect. For me its the perfect vape for watching dvds at night but i can se why some would not take to it as it takes a good few sessions to really get a handle on the thing but once you do its worthy of a spot in any vaporists collection.

I was hoping for the design brilliance of Heckler & Koch, but it turned out to be Toys R Us, instead.

Nonetheless, the liquid pad is ingenious and hopefully will be tested and made available by other vapes.
I'm still shocked by the actual design. It is truly... unbelievable.

Just to make clear, it may (or not) look like toys R Us BUT the Storz&Bickel german quality is here, TUV certified :-) looks and feel durable like the cano kindof.

Note on the side, the liquid pad is not new at all, my cano had one in 03 already and I guess it comes with the cano since the beginning.

Have you considered using the liquid pad for other vapes at all?
Would it be any good?

Thought you guys might be interested in my PLENTY review podcast:

New Today from the Dopefiend.co.uk Podcast Network:

On this week's feature-length episode of the Web's Favourite Cannabis Podcast, the Dopefiend takes an in-depth detailed look at the brand new PLENTY Vaporizer, the latest development on vaporization technology from the manufacturers of the mighty Volcano vaporizer. First, the Dopefiend takes us through his audio diary of his first week's experimentation with the PLENTY, in which he explains how it works, examines its benefits and shortcomings, and investigates how it fares with a variety of different strains of high-grade ganja. Next, the Dopefiend relocates to the home of DopeTribers Scottobaggins and Green Lady, who also welcome a panel made up of the Gremlin of Ganja, Cheezetheday, Blank Steve, and Esse B, in order to cast their beady red eyes over the PLENTY and talk about what they like and dislike about it. Following a musical interlude courtesy of Esse B and DopeTribe LIVE favourite Drizzy Dro, the Dopefiend talks to one of the men behind the creation of the Plenty, Michael Schwartz from Storz-Bickel, and finds out some more details about the thinking behind this brand new direct-draw vaporizer, and the cutting edge technology driving it.

As far as my current thoughts since the podcast: I'm very happy with the PLENTY. It gives a comparable experience to the Cloud (yes, the vapour really is that smooth!) but it's cheaper, there's no glass bits (I've already broken my Cloud's Hydratube), and it a bit more convenient. However its flavour-delivery isn't quite as good as the cloud, and it's not quite as efficient.

Outstanding review, as usual, thanks!

You touched on S&B's recommended method for cleaning the stainless steel tube in your podcast (by soaking it in iso). Will you keep us posted as to how long the stainless steel tube takes to get grungy with continued usage, and how easy or difficult it is to keep clean. If it's not a total bear to clean, and it only has to be cleaned infrequently, it sounds like a very reasonable tradeoff for how well it cools the vapor stream. The one thing that everyone in your podcast agreed on was how cool the vapor was, and how astounded they were when they exhaled (because unexpectedly a HUGE cloud of vapor came out).

Oh, and one thing that I don't recall being mentioned in the podcast is what the "draw" is like. Some systems present a substantial resistance when you inhale, and some present (next to) no resistance at all. What's the PLENTY like? Also, many of the direct inhale systems (and all of the portables) require one to learn the "proper" way to inhale to get the most out of a given vaporizer. ("Press this for 5 seconds, then inhale like you're sipping tea for 6.5 seconds, then let go of the button for 3.2 seconds, then press the button and wait 6.8 seconds, but this time inhale for all you're worth", etc.) I'm inferring that this is NOT the case with the PLENTY, due to the number of friends using your PLENTY during the podcast and not a single one needing instructions on how to inhale. :)

Finally, the next time all your friends are over, try filling the bowl all the way up, and see how that goes. From what I heard in the podcast, that may be the way to go in a party environment, rather than numerous small loads held in place by the liquid pad.

Again, thanks for all you do; I look forward to your podcast every week.

Next to no resistance- it's very easy to draw on the plenty.

You're right- you get best results by inhaling deeply, ie from your diaphragm, but however you inhale you will get good vapour with this machine.

No need to wait for this- we did this at the end of the testing session, and you can hear the results on the podcast. The PLENTY produces the best results with a full herb chamber and no liquid pad- we passed it round so many times we lost count and the flavour and thick clouds were there all the way through.

Glad you liked the review Haywood! Next up is the ThermoVape, in a couple of weeks or so.

So it seems like the perfect vaporizer for me...too bad I can't buy every version...
Well it seems by the way you're talking to be the best direct draw vaporizer out then...the fact that you can't really break it is amazing since I break glass all the time and its probably will happen with my future cloud...

When you say not quite as efficient ... if you calculate to % will it be 10% less efficient than the cloud?

That's very hard to say really- it's less efficient because the Cloud only produces vapour when you inhale and draw the heated air through the easy-load-bowl. The PLENTY, on the other hand, heats up when you pull the trigger, then slowly cools down again, so there is always a small amount of vapour which escapes between draws. It's not much, and we all agreed it's still pretty efficient- probably as efficient as a Volcano for example. Also it does work better when the herb chamber is full, and that's not particularly efficient for a solo user as it's a big herb chamber.

I still love the Cloud, even though I broke the HydraTube, and my beta unit has now blown completely (it won't heat up anymore). I'd say if whatever caused these beta unit Clouds to break were addressed, the Cloud would be the best direct draw out there. But the PLENTY is pretty close.

Very enjoyable review, DF. For me, the large size chamber is a bit of a problem. It would be interesting to see some sort of mini-chamber accessory. It seems fiddly to mess about with the concentrate pad between loads.

The heat sensor was becoming dislodged. They relocated it (embedded it). As for the Plenty being pretty close, I guess it depends on what aspect you're talking about. If your taste buds are high quality, you may prefer an inexpensive Vapolution, with it's all glass vapor path, to the Plenty's non glass path.

Well it's not a silicon top, it's a steel mesh pad... and I use about 0.2g per session and it works fine with the pad. The pad basically takes the place of the plunger in a Volcano Solid Valve chamber- it can be fiddly if re-filling when the PLENTY's still hot, but it's not that bad.

Max- the flavour definitely isn't up there with the Cloud's. but it's up there with a Volcano, which is very good flavour in my book, so I'm happy.

Well they should certainly be well versed on that one.

Any idea on how hard/easy it is to clean that ss tubing?

Great, thanks for this info...I'm really considering getting this vaporizer and wait for the Europe version of the cloud (I can't get warranty if I use an power adapter to 220V/stepdown to 110v)
The price seems fair but I still got a satisfying EQ :)

I haven't tried yet, but I'm planning on doing the ziplock bag alcohol trick- someone on another forum has suggested getting long pipecleaners too which I'll do if the first method doesn't do the trick.

Soak in alcohol for a minute and rinse with hot water just as you do with all S&B parts. Cleans like new I'm sure. I have been tempted to get the eur version and a voltage converter but I will be patient.

It looks like the Plenty is now available in 110 volt US model. I preordered one from gotvape this morning only to later see they are now shipping straight from S&B with free next day air. I figure it will get to my door pretty soon one way or the other. :ko:

S&B Plenty

I was able to cancel my order with gotvape (great customer service btw) and place it with S&B. Already shipped with expected delivery of tomorrow. This should keep me occupied until my # comes up for the cloud. yay!

What do you think of it? I'm surprised the U.S. release of the Plenty isn't getting more attention. I'm probably going to get one as soon as I can find a decent coupon for it...

Does anyone have an idea when The Plenty will be available in Canada/U.S?

We just got our shipment in today, so expect to see it in US/CA local stores in the coming 1-2 weeks. All of us at the office were a bit apprehensive at first about the design, but everyone who's used it for a bit has come to love it--it functions flawlessly. No digital gizmos or flashy displays to mess with, it's very back-to-the-basics. Very much a 'function over form' device.

I am also surprised at how little attention this vape is getting. Mine arrived a few hours ago. I have used it for two sessions.

My initial reaction is that it is very good. It will never be anything more then a direct draw vaporizer but it is implemented very well using technology from the volcano and the easy bowl. There is almost no draw restriction and the coiled steel "vapor wand" works very well at cooling the vapor.

My first session I set the temp midway on the dial and was a bit disappointed at the vapor density but it did give a huge number of tokes before the load was spent. The second session my neighbor came over and we decided to turn it to maximum heat. This resulted in very dense vapor. We both ended up over doing it and had a bit of a coughing fit. lol

Here are some pics of what you get in the mail. I'll make a usage video and give more of my thoughts on it later.

I really think because it's so simple (READ: no flashing lights), some people might pass on it. I was also holding out hope when I first heard about this unit, that it would be fully portable (battery powered). But after I got over my assumptions, I'm VERY impressed with this unit.

I think the problem is people were expecting some real innovation. When you consider the success of the Volcano and that S&B have had about 10 years to come up with another vaporizer the Plenty seems a bit weak. It might perform well but it does seem like it should have come out years ago.

Also, for the price range, there are cheaper and well tested vapes that have a more versatile functionality.

How is the Plenty for water? It seems to me that it would be a bit tricky to hook it up to water and that seems to be a major selling point for many vapes - water filtration adaptability.

I still might pull the trigger on one to see for myself - but I won't be rushing out for it.

VaporStore will be shipping the Plenty on Tuesday March 6,
2012. I made a review a few weeks ago:
https://www.vaporstore.com/proddetail.php?prod=plenty-vaporizer

I like the Plenty vaporizer from Storz & Bickel, it takes a little practice
to get used to using it and judging how hard and when to hit it. The filling
chamber is a great design and easy to open and close. It is very similar to
my VaporTower dual screen handkit chamber design, just a lot deeper
and wider. Personally I feel the Plenty is more suitable for larger groups
of people vs. a single person vape, since it can hold so much material and
requires a full chamber to work efficiently. The cooling coil is a great
idea and works very well to make the vapor cool! I found it nicer to "lock"
the orange trigger switch by using a zip tie wrapped around the handle to
keep the unit hot constantly, like the VaporTower I'm used to having at a
consistent temp. This eliminates having to watch the temp gauge to hit it at the
ideal temp during the right moments. My first suggestion for improvement is
to add a lock to the trigger switch to avoid using a zip tie, and to
maintain a more constant consistent temp for those that want the Plenty
ready to hit anytime during their session vs. waiting for it to heat and
then pull the trigger to re-heat each time you want to hit it again. The current design is more efficient at saving energy though. My second suggestion is a
shorter variance of heat range. For example, the Plenty will heat up to
nearly 420F on max heat setting, then cool down around 20 degrees to 400F
before the "click" thermometer turns on the heater again. So if your ideal
temp is 396F, you have to carefully "watch" the temp gauge for it to reach
your ideal temp, then hit it a couple times before it cools down to 376 or
so before the heater kicks on again. So if I hit it and pass it to others,
each user will not have the same temp, the same density of vapor, or the same
experience. Due to this, I have had others hit it several times in a row, usually
while it is re-heating back to around 390F. This way the users don't get a
weak hit or disappointed by the lack of vapor. IMO, hitting the Plenty
several times per user, is the ideal way to use get the most out of it.
Thanks for reading and taking part in the Vapor Revolution!
