Help to move from a part time to full time vapor toker!

Hello,

Love this site, lots of great information on one of my greatest loves, vaporisers!!

I have had my volcano for about a year and I love it, great build and very easy to transport places! However, while its great I always seem to veer for a my glass EHLE bong. I love smoking out of glass, love the way it bubbles though and feel of the thing compared to a plastic bag there is just no contest.

Im thinking of getting a Herborizer add on for my bong (the basic is like ~160). Can anyone here who previous/currently smoking bongs how the high is and does it come more concentrated than when in a volcano bag? As I love bong hits so think the herborizer is the only way to vap all the time, still using the volcano time to time.

Thanks

Hi Chilled, not sure if I'd call the Volcano easy to transport, but fair enough if you do!

I've never tried a herborizer so I can't really compare to that, but I don't believe it hits exceptionally thicker than any of the other popular heavy hitting vapes. There are heaps that will still work well with your bong, so I don't think that you do need to be curtailed to just the herborizer- most vapes will actually work well with glass, it's just the Volcano's weakest area. Have you looked at 7th Floor (Silver Surfer, Da Buddah)? Or the Supreme is also highly rated for thick hits from bongs. These will hit thicker than the Volcano bag and should hit the spot. I kicked my smoked bong habit easily enough anyway.

You might even want to look at a lighter based vape if you just want to try it out - check out the glass vapobowl or the vaporstar (a uk company), either of which can give you a pretty think bong hit for under 20- and it's not constrained to the power point like with a herborizer, so a lot more portable for vaping 'al fresco'. One of these designs are cheap enough and an essential part of a vapor fans arsenal. Bit of a learning curve though and you probably won't get the best out of it till you've used it for a few bowls. Maybe wont be quite as thick a hit as a Supreme, but they do work quite well.

I was like you, couldn't convert 100% to vaping because i loved my glass and my bong rips.
Then I got the Supreme Vaporizer.

While it certainly would be a great compliment to the volcano, *any* decent vaporizer with a high vapor to air ratio that can easily be adapted into glass (most can) would be your salvation IMO

I pretty much exclusively use glass to vaporize and only smoke when I have no other option at someone else's place, never would have gotten there without a heavy hitting vape like the supreme, 7th floor whip vapes, vapexhale (:brow:), etc

Thanks guys, both replies are of real value to me so thanks!!

Its great to hear haze that you were a heavy bong toker like I am currently. I use an activated carbon filter and is double perculated thanks for the pre-coller but its still carsengens and know the lady is keen for me to vapor the vast majority of the time.

I have only tried a glass vaporizer once and that was in the Dam it was the verdamking?! but they are WAY to big and I would love to be able to use my old trusty Ehle 500ml bong! It was fucking epic though and was just hard hitting as I like it.

You should check out the VapeXhale cloud which is releasing in about 8 weeks or so. I think it will be the best GonG type of vape.

The herborizer is one of the best choices if you love glass and live in EU. If you live in US you may want to check exchange rates as it gets quite expensive, shipping included. Herborizer is what has sold me to vapor, I used to smoke 4-5 roors everyday, so quite a bit. Now I only vape, with my herbo rig that blast me and my lady into space. You may want a not so big glass though, as vapor is less thicker than smoke, so if you have a greater chamber it's hard to milk it the "harder" way that we like :brow: so a medium sized glass is advised. After breaking my icemaster 5, and my little sista, I'm finding myself good using the Herborizer Sphere with the whip attachment, soo comfortable while watching tv on the sofa....I always find myself staring at the bubbles while I inhale...
In the end, on this forum the herborizer is very underrated imho, or at least not so often exposed, mainly because in US there are cheaper and "faster to get" vaporizers, and this forum is mainly frequented by us folks, oh well, one different vaporizer for everyone I guess, anyway if you're gonna get this piece of glass, you won't be disappointed, for sure.

Smokey,
I have a Herborizer Basic and actually will be shipping it off in about a day's time, never again to see it.. It's a nice vaporizer, a high quality stainless-encased ceramic element set inside what is some very, very nicely blown European glass. It really does look pretty awesome and the "injector" concept works very well to prevent hotspotting.

It is not the best choice if vapor to air ratio is your concern. There are many youtubes showing what sort of vapor density you can get with an Herbo, just as there are many showing how much denser you can get with a vape like the Supreme. The Herbo is classy, solid, trouble free and built with obvious care, but it's not the biggest provider of clouds.

As Wattyler wisely pointed out, there are lighter powered vapes which can provide denser vapor for far less money, so if that's the priority then the money might be better spent there. I personally favor the vapocane at this point.

Edit: smokey mentions using his with a whip attachment. I twice before used the Herbo in a 3 hose hookah setup and the heat retention was excellent. In fact, the herbo seems to put out more vapor when large volumes of air are being pulled through it.

Well if you're open to concentrates/extractions, maybe try a hmk ti swing. It's like smoking, similar feel but tastier/healthier. :)

I second this. Every single one of my smoking friends now far prefer BHO to smoking.

have you tried the illadelph easy bag water pipe adaptor? its cheap(ish) from alt and it will enable you to use both your volcano and your ehle together in perfect harmony!

if your just looking for a vape that can be used with a waterpipe, then just pick your favorite vape because it seems to me that there are actually very few vapes that can't be used with a waterpipe. whether or not its an experience that you want to repeat is a different story. for example people hit their mflb's through a waterpipe (with an adaptor) but it just looks so laborious and finicky to me that i would never be bothered.

my advice for making the switch to vapor 100% is to actually do something counter intuitive; take a T-Break! your usage will dictate how long you will need but i would guess a 2 week t-break would be good. anyways, after the t-break only vape - Fuckcombustion! your body will have forgotten what it likes so much about smoking (all the nasty shit) and then when you reintroduce the lovely vapes it will be the only thing you will want from then on.

second thing that will help make the switch to vapes; quit smoking cigs (if you do)!

I like to bong hit with my SSV, i can get a nice thick milky hit and when not using the bong just use it through the good old whip.

I even purchased an offical ssv bong attachment that works very well. :ko:

You sound just like me, my first experience with a vaporizer was literally a soldering iron affixed in a glass done. It was the worst piece of shit I ever owned at 18 years old.

Went to Amsterdam for the first time in 2004 and bought a volcano.
Found the bags "fun" but the act of filling and huffing a bag was not the same as smoking out of glass.

The next few years the volcano was used to smoke low grade mids but primarily I smoked all the headies.
Skip to 2011 -- I now own IMO the two best bong-esc vaporizers: VHW & Verdamper.

For obvious reasons I would suggest the VHW since you need only buy a Gong stem / heating element and run you under 250$. The Verdamper is an outright problem, it has become a black hole for my herb packing both a punch and a taste to be rivaled by none.
