Temple University Study on CBD

CBD seems like a panacea if there ever was one. The medical benefits of this compound are vast, from project CBD:

"Scientific and clinical studies indicate that CBD could be effective in easing symptoms of a wide range of difficult-to-control conditions, including: rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, alcoholism, PTSD, epilepsy, antibiotic-resistant infections and neurological disorders. CBD has demonstrated neuroprotective effects, and its anti-cancer potential is currently being explored at several academic research centers in the U.S. and other countries. "

I've also read on wiki it has uses for schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety through 5-ht1a action. CBD also helps with memory impairment caused by thc. Serotoningenic cannabinoids seem pretty damn cool to me.

Why everyone is blind to this, and kept in the dark refusing to see the facts, is sad, but not unexpected. Its always encouraging to see that research is being done though, and hopefully one day we will cast aside the stigma and make full use of this wonderous plant.

Well said Rico. Project CBD is a good resource, I check the diary section frequently. Maybe one day the stigma will be gone but I fear that the government has done such a good job brainwashing people that it may take a generation to reverse it. Socially, I can never tell anyone we know that I am a cannabis patient since most people are ignorant of the truth and are against what they don't understand. Hopefully the laws will change more quickly but I am sure the feds will make it as nasty as possible for all concerned.

And they say cannabis has no medicinal value yet the government has a patent on cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants...say whaa  U.S. Patent # 6630507

Also find it odd how marinol(synthetic thc in a pill) is a schedule III drug yet cannabis is schedule I as we all know.

How much more hypocritical can you get?

:) I love cbd.. and other but i love to eat it in edibles.. Smokin/vapin it is smashing my brain too much, I prefer a body stone, not a brain stone.
As so for cbd helping with memory problem which thc cause , I don't agree..IME I got much more memory problems with ABV bho than with pure bud honey..
Also bout marinol ,there are reported O.D death cases..

Yes, leave it to the government to take a perfectly good herbal medicine and turn it into a pill that kills. Typical.

Edit: I blame corporations (big pharma) as well. The merger of state and corporate powers is Fascism and is what we have now in Amerika.

They can't patent a (non-GM) plant, but they can patent the isolation of a single drug (THC-->marinol)
So why can't big pharma patent & isolate cannabidiol (CBD)?

Marinol didn't work for a lot of people (altho it did help some someone I knew who had cancer) because it was missing the other 59 cannabinoids & 100s of alkaloids, but considering all the benefits CBD has *alone* as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, neuroprotective, and antioxidant, it seems like something someone should be doing?

Anyone heard anything about extracting isolated CBD?

Seems to be some promising news.

This has always been one of my main concerns with vaporizing: Are we getting those essential CBD's?

It seems like vaporizing is more physically beneficial, while smoking is a bit more healthful on the mind?

My worry is that perhaps Cannabis has evolved over thousands of years to be ingested through smoke inhalation. I took a look at that cannabinoid-temp chart and I get a little nervous that we aren't getting the full spectrum of Cannabinoids (sp?).

Lets say, vaporizing with a DBV until the herb is dark brown, we will never really know what cbd's we are getting..

Thank you for the post, t-dub. I've actually already checked over this chart religiously. I always wonder why there are so many CBD's that are activated at near combustion temperatures? It makes me wonder if this plant has evolved to be smoked.

What do you guys think?
