You have 3 kids, house , and a wife.....
You're a wealthier man than I'll ever achieve to be .
And it sounds like you have the intelligence to keep that all going in these trying times .
Better luck on your next pick-up , and remember ..... no seeds .

Thanx for the fun thread topic .

Well, to defend myself from accusations of 'stupid answers' I've elected to provide some facts. These are the food defect action levels set by your very own FDA- produce staying below these levels of 'defects' are deemed to provide no inherent hazard to health and is not considered adulterated or contaminated- and this is in food stuff- not vapeable/combustable herbal matter. This is just a very small selection of some rodent or poo related;

CAPSICUM
Pods
Mammalian excreta
Average of more than 1mg mammalian excreta per pound

Ground Capsicum
Rodent filth
Average of more than 6 rodent hairs per 25 grams

CINNAMON, GROUND
Rodent filth
Average of 11 or more rodent hairs per 50 grams

FENNEL SEED
Mammalian excreta
20% or more of subsamples contain mammalian excreta
OR
average of more than 3 mg of mammalian excreta per pound

MACARONI AND NOODLE PRODUCTS
Rodent filth
Average of 4.5 rodent hairs or more per 225 grams in 6 or more subsamples

OREGANO, GROUND
Rodent filth
Average of 5 or more rodent hairs per 10 grams

POPCORN
Rodent filth
1 or more rodent excreta pellets are found in 1 or more subsamples, and 1 or more rodent hairs are found in 2 or more other subsamples
OR
2 or more rodent hairs per pound and rodent hair is found in 50% or more of the subsamples
OR
20 or more gnawed grains per pound and rodent hair is found in 50% or more of the subsamples

SAGE, GROUND
Rodent filth
Average of 9 or more rodent hairs per 10 grams

SESAME SEEDS
Mammalian excreta
Average of 5 mg or more mammalian excreta per found
Foreign matter
Average of 0.5% or more foreign matter by weight [??]

WHEAT
Rodent filth
Average of 9 mg or more rodent excreta pellets and/or pellet fragments per kilogram

WHEAT FLOUR
Rodent filth
Average of 1 or more rodent hairs per 50 grams [I assume by this time the turds have been milled into the flour]

Quite interesting to see just how much insect matter you're permitted to unwittingly consume as well.... It doesn't bother me, but I've a feeling it might be uncomfortable for some of the more squeamish on here.

Mr WatTyler ,
There seems to be a little mis-understanding .
My previous post was not directed at you , in the least !
You have passion in your posts and they're educational .

I just don't believe in kicking a man when he's down .
Calling him Opie and pointing out the possibility of financial in-adequacies aren't helpful .
He stated his situation ; and I just wanted to send him some positive vibe . That's all .

The Actual quote is ;
" There are no stupid questions....just stupid people . " ( Sorry )
meaning ; You shouldn't stifle the voice or idea of an individual ....
My apologies for the mis-understanding .

Now let's have a great Sat. night Vaping !
I'm vaping a bowl on your behalf as we speak .

warttyler====Quite interesting to see just how much insect matter you're permitted to unwittingly consume as well....

As if I haven't made my point clearly to some, I yet again have to come discuss KNOWINGLY SMOKING OR VAPING/ MAKING BUTTER/ BHO OR whatever with a stash that HAS been KNOWINGLY tarnished with at minimum MICE SHITE and more than likely urine and other bacteria known to mice. So your murmurings about "unknowingly"consuming insect matter have ZERO merit in this discussion and only further prove my point of NOT KNOWINGLY digest smoke / vape / eat stuff that you clearly KNOW had mice shit on it. This was never about "hypothetically speaking" or how much effin insect poop/ dead bodies are in my food supply. Most everyone here discusses vaping for health reasons and from reading other posts, many CARE what they choose to KNOWINGLY put into their bodies. My family choose to eat "outside the box" so to speak, we try to grow what we can, buy from healthier companies(not just the cheapest or most conveinent), arm ourselves with knowledge(try to avoid anything Mosanto touches), avoid nitrates, high fructose corn syrup, blah blah. I did not come here to start a Health Food Nazi thread, not my thing. So with that frame of reference, how can anyone advise on THIS great board, for that man, whether he is rich, poor, kids no kids, etc to smoke eat or vape that shit is clearly offensive to me, a member here.

Since my other info seems ignored on hantavirus(how many cases there are is mute, how you contact it is the damn point) Maybe so few cases becaause most people out there have enough sense to throw out there mice poop infected weed.Anyway here from the CDC is how you can contact Hantavirus, which apparently since so few cases, is not a big deal.
CDC WEBSITE
"People become infected through contact with hantavirus-infected rodents or their urine and droppings." Here is how to avoid it "Eliminate or minimize contact with rodents in your home, workplace, or campsite. If rodents don't find that where you are is a good place for them to be, then you're less likely to come into contact with them. Seal up holes and gaps in your home or garage. Place traps in and around your home to decrease rodent infestation. Clean up any easy-to-get food."

How many people have gotten cancer or other illness from vaping thru a Chinese knock off box vape? How many have gotten just sick from vaping with a vape that has its electronics exposed to the vapor path? Statistics please anyone? I don't mean how many peopl have gotten ill by low temp burning plastic or a factory worker with 40 hr a week exposure to some chemical used to make a vaporizer, I mean how many people on this board can prove they were made seriously ill by using a "bad" vape product like mentioned above? Now how many posts on this board are there with people "shunning" a product that has vapor path openly exposed to electronics? After asking those questions, hopefully I have shown my cause, concern, reasoning, why I take offense to anyone on FC telling another member or arguing the merit of smoking/ vaping mice infected poopy weed.

Maybe those who are so apt to prove me daft or being overdramatic can start your own topic in the lounge of how safe the worlds manufatured food is, or how much insect crap is in our food, or how you have rat and roach droppings all in your house and your fine with no ill affects. If the op had asked if he should throw out his years supply of wheat in his silo because he found a dead mouse, some of you guys answers would have fit better.

Off to enjoy some Tahoe OG, some perfectly exquisite bananna kush, purple lambs breath and blue dream with absolutely zero mice shit THAT I KNOW OF.

mod note: Another unnecessarily disrespectful post.

Poonman, no worries- I had heard the quote before, so interpreted it with a pinch of salt. I'll vape a wand for you too now! :peace:

Silver420surfer; I'm not so keen on your tone towards others in this thread. I couldn't give a flying fuck if you find this topic, or a sensible pragmatic, fact and evidence based approach to it 'offensive' or not. The way you spoke towards others was also quite offensive, as is the way you present your poorly substantiated, excessively fearful opinion as fact.

Maybe you didn't notice that I hadn't included any of the any of the insect content in my figures- because it wasn't relevant. I simply mentioned it once at the end as an interesting aside- not quite the 'murmurings' you suggest. But you don't seem to care too much for points of fact.

Whether something is KNOWINGLY consumed or not doesn't actually have any bearing on the actual risk involved. So no need to SHOUT THE WORD every utterance. It is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT to any ASSESSMENT of RISK. I KNOW you consume some trace of RODENT on a fairly REGULAR basis. Whether you KNOW that or not doesn't affect the issue in the slightest.

The number of hantavirus cases is not relevant? OK, that's so ridiculous in this context that I'm not even going to elaborate further. You need a lesson in virology.

To compare this situation with Chinese vapes is also ridiculous- what knowledge or research do we have? What regulators? We have very little, and so we operate mostly on a precautionary basis with our vapes. We don't really understand the full risks of many materials. We know lots more about food product hygiene and safety, have a government regulator and apply a pragmatic precautionary level with a fair understanding of the risks involved- and bear in mind that it's set for the protection of the weakest in our society- for a healthy individual threshold levels for 'safe' exposure might well be far higher in some instances.

And also bear in mind that we're talking about natural pest damage here- the opposite of nasty chemicals which may bio-accumulate. I would far rather accept a controlled level of pest damage in my food production than excessive use of pesticides- which would be the route to seeking zero damage. And sometimes this is actually the cheapest solution, used in the cheaper brands. I would be interested to know if organic produce actually contained on average slightly higher levels of pest evidence (poo, fur, urine, body parts)- certainly in some environments organic farms have much greater difficulties with production- it stands to reason that this could be reflected somewhat in the final product.

So on the one hand we have the FDA saying that a certain quantity of evidence of rodent activity in a product is only really an aesthetic issue (I think this sounds dubious, but it must be substantiated by a degree of evidence- if people were getting rodent related sickness from lightly affected produce then they would be forced to act- this isn't like chemicals where the issues arise years down the line). On the other we have Silver420surfer, armed with 'enough sense' (who are you to imply anyone else on here is a fool? big man) and a tiny bit of knowledge of how hantavirus maybe spreads, implying it's likely to give you hantavirus and kill you. I think we should add at this point that it is only suspected that the virus spreads through contact with affected products/items. Actually a majority of cases have been via airborne transmission in infested areas. But what do the facts matter, eh? Let us focus on fears

This also shows some confusion- after critisizing the 'hypothetical' nature of others responses, your own is an emotional response based mostly upon theory and fear and not backed up with very much empirical support. The threat of death/hantavirus is not significant, despite your wish to portray otherwise. If you'd rather not do anything with lightly contaminated bud that's fine- I'm sure there are a great many of us on here that would have reservations, and I myself would be disposing of the affected portion. But the real life risk doesn't warrant the response that you gave, nor your tearing shreds off the OP's initial query or others attempts to contribute-"I would rather not use it and prefer to eliminate every possibility of any illness risk in my life, however minor", or simply offering an opinion that remained respectful to other posters, would have been a far more appropriate response :2c:

I have no desire to start another thread on the topic, but I have every bit as much right to tell the OP in this one that I believe there to be minimal risk involved in further using his stash somehow as you do to remark otherwise. So please go check yourself. You have no right to be butt hurt. At least I can substantiate my position with more than fear.

I'm tired of mouse shit now.

mod note: You're smart enough to disagree on the topic and even comment on someone's language and demeanor, without being disrespectful yourself. Please do so in the future.

in an effort to keep the peace I think we can sum this thread up as follows.

in reality the op would probably be fine consuming his stash still. that said he is rolling the dice and could get sick. maybe not hanta virus, who knows.

the fact of the matter is we do know that this batch has become directly "contaminated" with rodent waste.

both sides have made excellent points and i think it's time for us to decide were we feel on the subject. go to the side of caution or are you a gambler?

I think we live in a world what subscribes to the "better safe than sorry" philosophy and I would apply that idea to this instance too. I would not consume that herb anymore. and for the future maybe pickup a few more mason jars :)

That wasn't necessarily directed at you WatTyler. Post removed to avoid any more confusion. I was as weedemon trying to make a little peace by saying you both have good and bad sides to your arguments, but I apparently failed to make any sense.

I am very sorry. Sometimes I can't seem to make myself understood through text. :ko: I should probably refrain from posting when baked. :uhoh:
