I quite often lurk as I don't always sign in unless I plan on contributing something. So I am guessing that at least a small percentage of the lurkers are already members - just not signed in.

Newly arrived lurker here. 
It's funny, I never thought I would join the FC community until the Purple Days Photo Contest started. I guess the photographer in me just couldnt resist the temptation. Now that I have an account, I'm slowly realizing why forums like this are so successful. There's something quite gratifying about contributing to and interacting with an always present community

You guys were keen registering straight away! I lurked for around 2.5 years before registering, but this was my first foray into participating the online social world anywhere in any way, so it was a big step. It was researching my 'I-Inhale' problem which brought me here first of all.

ya i registered after i read quite a bit to get a good feel for the place, probably a month or so...i do that everywhere i join, its what i would do in person if i walked into a room ive never been in...not polite imho to just start talking before doing some listening but thats just me.
