Underdog Log Vapes

@Barca I have owned a CRZ in the past and have compared it to the Underdog before. Both units are hot but the air path of the UD is less restricted. The same amount of material in the CRZ will give more hits than the UD but the hits are larger and more dense with the UD. Both will produce evenly browned ABV (ABV color will most likely depend on shape and density of wood). I usually use my CRZ for dry hits and my UD for water hits. This is just my preferred way of vaping.

I will post a review of the HI in it's thread and give my thoughts on how it compares to other log vapes I've tried. I will also answer any questions any fellow FC members ask whether it be by private Email of here on the forum.

Right now I'm gonna take a hit form the UD, CRZ, and HI and then type up a HI review with pics. 3...2...1...Blastoff! Stay vaping my UD peep! :ko:

*Edit* I will add here that for any UD owner that run there UD through glass, Alan's all glass 14mm gong adaptor mates perfectly with Dave's glass stem sleeve and creates a nice tight seal for water filtration.

Yes the UD definitely hits harder than the Solo. The Solo is the hardest hitting portable I have tried but the clouds do not compare to the UD IMO (I think this is mainly do to the restricted air path of the solo and the unrestricted air path of the UD). I will say the Solo has become my go to portable lately with the TV taking care of my stealth needs. My WISPR has sadly not seen action in weeks. I can not get rid of it though because it is my emergency Hurricane vape in case we are out of power for long periods. One of the percs of living in a city that is below sea level and surrounded by water :/

*Edit* @dorkus I think pysshaman has a nice UD up for sale on your side of the pond. Both my UD's with multiple woods species hit really nice especially the Purple Pint. The Queen runs a little cooler due to its size and Ash body but doy does it give some flavorful hits :ko:

@gonzo, cheers foe the info, & thats exactly why i am asking. i have never used a log vape before & have really wanted to try one.
but, i am really hard up for funds ATM & am torn. :/

I have to come to really like the restricted draw on the solo (pretty nuts huh?)
when I used my DBV last i found myself pinching the hose to replicate some restriction. But it didnt cut the mustard, and my solo continued to be my daily driver.

Any thoughts anyone? Or should I just find the $$$ from somewhere & grab it regardless?

never having used a log vape before, I dunno?

I like the idea of having it on all day once it warms up. so thats pretty cool.

anyhoo, hopefully some of you who know whats, what will be able point me in the right direction?
I bet by the time I finish dicking around, someone will have bought it already.-lol :(

Dorkus the one thing I've always had positive to say about the solo is it had big ass clouds. That never changed for me. The UD blew that away hands down. Before this vape I thought logs were little light hits with the only positive being they saved bud. This is not the case at all with the underdog. It's a powerplant that somehow still saves bud. I only wish I'd have tried other logs to see how much bigger of a hit I actually get.

I think if you like cannabis, you will like an Underdog LOL.

here for the chicks
I had some problems with my Dog's PSU, but when it did work I was amazed by the cloud production. Now my Solo can't even satisfy me anymore even, I'm back to the Vapocane at the moment. People keep raving on about the DBV and SSV, I used a SSV as a daily driver for 8 months myself but no way those can keep up with a properly heated Dog ime.

Email answered anyways Dorkus, I hope it was somewhat helpful.

Do you use any water filtration btw? That could be another way for you to get some restriction perhaps. I never really minded the restrictive airpath of the Solo myself, but you will not find this with the UD. If that's what you're after perhaps the CRZ would be a better log for you, but I doubt it has the cloud producing capabilities the UD has from what I gather from comparisons on FC, and I don't think I would like the smaller bowl myself even though I still don't have a full grasp of the size of it. It's all a matter of preference I guess.

Dave, thanks for the answer, I was just wondering what to do with it, haha.

I think it will make a nice container for my e-juice bottles though.

For what my opinion on the solo is worth anymore, I thought I hated the restrictive 2 hole stems that felt like a milkshake with a straw, but then when I got the less restrictive ones the vapor to air ratio went WAY down. The big difference between the UD and other vapes I've used is that the vapor to air ratio is insane its all dense vapor, but I don't really feel any restriction at all as far as my definition goes. No matter what speed your inhale is you are getting a dense ass stream of that vapor.

Looks like someone new just picked up an UD from the classifieds.

I was expecting 2 people I know to jump on that but neither bothered. Snoooooze you loose.

I would have picked that up myself if I had the money and didn't have a twig in Dave's mad scientist lab right now.

@abysmal - I did try the HI VVPS with Tiny. It worked really well, but I prefer to plug in and forget rather than adjust temp while vaping (One reason I enjoy log vapes so much). I do like the size of the HI's VVPS for using with the UD but prefer the digital readout of my other VVPS better.

I just wanted to mention again how much I love Dave for his superb customer service. I emailed him about buying some thin wall tubing, and told him that I was having some trouble getting my PayPal account to work. Surprisingly, he offered to send the tubing to me right now before I even pay him!
This is the reason why I love the UD: not only is it a great vape, but any time you need any help you get generous, thoughtful assistance.
But as great as my dog is, I feel myself slowly catching the infamous Vape Acquisition Syndrome :/ I'm trying to save up for the next 'groundbreaking' vape, this industry is evolving so quickly that it's bound to come out soon.

Also, would it be possible to have one thread where people could post their 'which vape should i buy' questions? I feel like it would be a great place for vapor newbies like me to go and read up on user comparisons between all types of vapes. This would also help solve the problem of people new to vaporizing not knowing about log vapes.

@ barca14 - emailed you back dude and got your package ready to ship out in the morning, let me know that it arrives safely if you would? I'm also curious to see if it gets there in just 1 day since you're right down the road. Thanks!

@ dorkus - hey man welcome to the pack (well hopefully), glad you were able to pick up a piece from psyshaman and get your foot in the UD door. Let us know what you think once you get the piece alright?

cheers for the kind welcome dave,

I am really excited, really enjoying reading the thread. Hopefully by the time I finish, i am sure all of my questions will have been answered and I will be able to hit the clouds running when it arrives.
(already pretty well worked out how to rig it to my setup a couple of ways already)

and I will happily post my thoughts here. I have watched some totally bitchin UD videos today.

So far, I am on page 61 & abysmals vid is my favorite. but overall, with all the UD vids i watched today I found myself exclaiming 'wow' as i watched massive vapor hits being put thru glass.

looking forward to that fo sho. :D

cheers guys, got some reading to continue with.

Might have to dig out my HA & bung it in the classifieds to help fund this adventure. (keeping ones wife happy is a serious priority.)

Yes, this is my go-to power supply on my desk because of the voltage readout. It makes it real easy to tell what temp I am at. I have also been experimenting with using my HI VVPS with the my UD's but I have no way of telling what voltage I am at.

That's the power supply that I used to buy in bulk from the distributor, it's a pretty nice one too.

As an even better power supply I like one with an amperage readout too as you can easily see how much power a piece is drawing at a glance which is an easy way to see if everything is working how it's supposed to. I found a pretty good deal on those types of supplies for another UD'er on Amazon and thought you guys might be interested too so I'll post the link.. this is the cheapest I've seen these type of supplies and I think it's a good deal. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...GM3_7?ie=UTF8&m=A1ZBKCUWLGCGM3&n=&s=&v=glance

Can the UD be used with the short GonG stems from a RockZap? I have a CRZ but I wouldn't mind a hotter log vape for a night sesh so I was looking into the UD. I only vaporbong so I would prefer using a stem like the RZ rather than the silicone tubing.

The UD can be used with the CRZ gong stem but remember that the UD is not designed to use the metal tip insert (Dave can correct me if I'm wrong here). the UD gets slightly hotter than the CRZ and will scorch material if the ss stem tip is inserted to far. I use my CRZ gong stem with UD but I hold the UD up to the tip of the stem and draw rather than inserting it as I would with my CRZ. Hope that helps answer your question.

Sounds just about right there Gonzo. Pretty soon you guys won't need me to answer questions at all lol. That might make things lonely around here for me but I guess it would give me more time in the shop.. :brow:

hi all,

Phew, finally all 95pages done & dusted.

Now for the moment, I have only one question and hopefully someone will have the answer.

After reading the entire thread & taking note of some power supply issues.

Would someone pls be so kind see if any of these would be suitable? Being so far away, its sometimes best and easier to obtain some things locally and I feel this is one of those things.

or

hopefully this is not a silly question, any help would be awesome.

@ dorkus - wow you're a trooper, made it through all 95 pages.. that's a lot of reading lol. Those power supplies are available locally, do they warranty them? I ask because I see they are both switchmode power supplies (and it's getting harder to find non-switchmode ones) which is the type that all the failures you ready about happened with. I've been told by the EE (electrical engineers) that the type of load a log vape has is hard on switchmode power supplies and can cause failures. That all being said I think I would suggest the first one if you are going to choose between the two as it looks a bit more robust so maybe would fare better.

@ SD_haze - nice setup and nice sticker dude :brow:
