Underdog Log Vapes

i like logs because they are direct draw. But even the day I stumbled around in the dark to turn down my top with my radio shack adapter and end up turning up the switch on my RZ and fried it. With the UD 12v gets the job done pretty regularly.

Oh that sucks dude (about the RZ)!

In other news I finished the first retrofit today from an older core to the newest revision core. It was a very laborious chore, ended up taking me much longer than I though and being much more involved. :o Whether I retrofit more will have to be decided on a case-by-case basis I guess.. or I've got to find an easier way to do it, but at least I've determined that it is possible. :cool:

Not the best news with core swapping :/ I wish it was more cost effective. I'll still get a twig its just a matter of when, but the twig shouldn't be left on too long anyway.

I'm about to take the plunge and get my first vape in the next few weeks, so I've been reading all over this website--and I just have to say that this UD thread is the best out here, so friendly and helpful. After some of the mudslinging and misdirection on the other threads, this one is a pleasure to read.
The UD vapes look beautiful, and aesthetics do matter to me, but I'm not sure it's the right first vape for my intended uses (which I won't go into, but suffice it to say that I'm a light user who likes a quick and discreet hit now and then, which may not be the UD's strength). But here's my general question: I want a user-friendly, easy vape without a big learning curve. Is this a good first vape or is it really better for seasoned veterans? Reading the FC website, it sounds like some vapes take a fair amount of trial&error to master; I want something easier than that.

Once my UD is warmed up, you can pull fast, slow or fast and slow, doesn't matter - good solid hits. I would have to say that the learning curve for the UD is very simple and easy to pick up. As far as the lighter hits go, which I'm not a fan of, would be easy to accomplish simply by not pulling as long. The UD is a very good first vape, or second, or third...you see my point. :2c:

Really, the ONLY negative thing I can come up with is the warmup time. There really is no learning curve to speak of- these things just work!

This vape might actually be better than you think. EWven with a low tolerance once the new cores are in this vape you can have it on 24/7 ready to vape. You could just take a quick hit and pull the stem off and put it away and be good for a while. Instant hits whenever you want. If you were looking for a really small portable I'd say Magic Flight Launch Box comes to mind based on your description of what you are looking for. For a home vape I really REALLY suggest the underdog though. No learning curve at all. If you can attach a stem to a bowl and suck, you can use the underdog.

Thanks everyone--I must say I'm impressed. I like just about everything about the these vapes, including the good vibes on this board, the engaged seller, and the eco-friendly approach. I can certainly see using it at home, though even there I need to be low-key. But about once a month I find myself at a nice hotel--for work or play--and I'd like something that is usable in that way. So: something that is low-profile, wouldn't look highly suspicious if accidentally discovered by hotel staff, and would be convenient for quick use. The UD might work, other than the warm up time; I probably wouldn't leave it plugged in while I was out of the room. I had thought the Solo would be ideal, but every time I get ready to order I read another worrisome post. I think I read that some log-style vapes need to take a beak every 20 minutes or so--is that true? Maybe I'm making that up; I've read so many FC posts in the last few weeks.
The UD is gorgeous, not conspicuous--and it sounds like it works really well. I'm thinking this could be it. Now the problem is picking one of those beauties.

This type of vape is quite safe to leave on. I have a couple at our house that stay on 24/7.

Haha not to worrie Zymos, this was something I needed to do anyways and you've been more than patient with me and I appreciate it! Your piece is up and running and has been chugging away since yesterday working 24/7 without a hitch.

It looks like everyone has things well in hand here so I will only butt in if needed. I would suggest though headdoctor that you get in touch with me before buying so I can make sure you get exactly what you want, etc. After my experience yesterday I realize that I might not be able to retrofit all the pieces in the catalog and I need to figure out what to do about that. :peace:

Newbie question. Never even heard of these things till a month or two ago, but wondered if I could get a recommend for a VaporTamer for my 1/4 in core Underdog.
Regarding Vapor Tamers in general, how long a use do you get out of each freeze? and then how long to refreeze? I can see the value of one of these but if it's only good for ten minutes for every two hrs of freezing, I suspect it would wind up staying in my freezer due to inconvenience.

The thinner discontinued Vaper Tamers that are now discounted only stayed cold for about 20 minutes.
The Fatty VT takes about the same time to freeze solid, but gives me about 45 minutes of use.

I did get it, about a week ago.. it finally showed up.

I've only messed with it a couple times but it seems to work well so far. I'll give you a bit more info once I've had a chance to play some more.

I don't have a clue Adobewan so hopefully someone else will chime in and help you out. The AquaVape works well but I don't know how you'd adapt your 1/4" tubing to the 3/8" size of the AV. :peace:

Adobewan, sorry, I should've answered earlier. The original stems I got with my 1/4" B-day vape are 1/2" OD but I got an extra stem and some tubing afterward that are both 7/16" OD. The ID of the male GG fitting on the Fatty VT is 31/64" and on the Saturn it's 29/64" So the 1/2" stem fits perfectly into the Fatty but tightly in the Saturn. The 7/16" stem fits loosely in both, but a seal can be made when you press it in while inhaling.

Both stems fit perfectly into a female 14mm GG fitting, so if you had to you could get an adapter but it shouldn't be necessary. I'm sure you could find some of the 1/2" OD tubing also.

I am just scared something will go wrong and water will go right into the core which is plugged in :/

been awhile since i stopped in here, hope everyone is doing well, i got some reading to catch up on.

the tortuga and the twig are going strong, no issues with either of these pups, though the twig has been getting a lot more use and has become my daily driver in addition to my oil rig.

Hmmm I never thought about that before.. gee thanks darkrom. :lol: After messing with it a bit I'd say you'd have to blow through it pretty decently to get the water out and into the UD.

Hey stroh, haven't seen you around in a while.. good to hear your UD's are still taking care of business. You got any more UD video's in the works or have we seen them all? I got your old Goblet back up and running with a 24/7 core and I think it hits harder than before.. :brow:
