Just walked back in from our trip and amazed at how many emails and messages are piled up and waiting for attention. Going to unpack and get some rest and then head back to the shop in the morning.

Went by one of my favorite wood suppliers in Oregon today on our way home and walked out with 3 canvas shopping bags of beautiful wood and had a chuckle when the total rang up at $420 hahaha  I'll post a pic of the 'pile' of loot when it's light out tomorrow.

@ Abysmal - did you get your power supply problems straightened out? Sounds like you're having a good time with your piece by that last post.. :)

@ darkrom - glad to hear you're mastering your glass!

I'm psyched to hear you guys (and gals) are all getting such great efficiency out of your 'dogs.. sometimes less is more. :brow:

Great Scott!
Snakewood looks awesome along with many others from that site.

I wish this local buyer would come up with the $ for my solo so I can start throwing piles of money at you for an uber custom ubertwig.

Hey Dave, I really like your work and I'd definitely consider a UD as my next vape... if you shipped to Canada ;)

I think I remember hearing that you'll ship commissioned pieces anywhere, and I was wondering if you could give me an idea of what kind of premium one of those would run me over your standard models? Thanks!

I am actually running with the same power adapter.. Any time when the Temp is not hot enough there is a reason.. I think it was the plug. It get very easily semi unplugged.. and when it is that it is not heating the unit with full power i guess .. I am getting so stoned with WW and ww oil that it never came to mind to chech the plug.. I am still planning or getting another adapter or plug which is tighter fitting.. BTW What is the size/type of that plug.
Most of the chargers with both 12v and 13 v i am finding are called impulse ac/dc chargers.. You told me to look for a DC chargers .. Is the ac/dc charger suitable for the dog? Should i look in chargers that are only DC or that AC/DC is just dual mod.. ?

An AC/DC is what I meant when I just said DC and should work fine. An AC/DC adapter is one that takes AC power and transforms it to DC and in this case lowers it to 12v. The plug is a 2.1mm plug.

Glad to hear the UD is working and keeping you happy!

Just collected my first dog hash.. I noticed that the airflow is a bit hard even if i load small.. but its fine when i dont use my two-part dual screen gong handheld direkt drawl attachment from my magick wand set .It has two screens and the there was like 0.2 g hash coin on the front screen and nothing on the second or the inner side of the first screen.(:brow: that means it filters very fine the particles )
(http://media.photobucket.com/image/%2522magick%20wand%2522%20vaporizer/getvaked101/100_1213.jpg the one on the left.)
Anyway i put 1/4th of it about 10 minutes ago in my dog and it is still fogging :)..

Our policies have changed a bit in regards to shipping out of the USA but we haven't updated the website yet with the new info so thanks for asking.

Our new policy is that we will ship pieces (commissioned or not) internationally for an additional $30 shipping fee to which we add the $20 that 'free shipping' usually runs us.. this covers the $50 total cost of international shipping. We also need the customer to tell us exactly what value and product type to put on the customs forms; since we can't be responsible for the piece once it leaves here the customs papers have to be done right the first time. Lastly we can provide a power supply for overseas markets if you can give us very clear details on what type you need, alternatively you can always provide a power supply yourself once your piece arrives.

If you want to talk specifics you can always email me and we can figure things out however you like.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving on: we had a great much-needed relaxing trip to the northern Oregon coast and enjoyed ourselves very much. Thanks to you all for patiently waiting until we came back to answer emails, take care of issues, etc.. it is very much appreciated!

Now that I'm back I've got a good amount of work to do as we kick off the current shop project of 'uber-Twigs' and moving the revised 3/8" core into production. The next couple months are going to be fun!

Here is the promised picture of the lumber I picked up on the way back..
WoodPile.jpg

I picked up some: Jatoba, Tineo, Rosewood, Koa (Hawaiian), Figured Claro Walnut Burl, Afzelia Burl, Albizia (Hawaiian), Black and White Ebony, Mun Ebony, Bocote, Osage Orange, Figured Blue Gum, Lignum Vitae, Apple, Sapele and a few mystery pieces from the cut-off bin. Some of these will be destined for vapes, some for inlay and some for Amanda's jewelery and art projects. Quite the haul, some beautiful stuff and a frighteningly small pile for such a good sized chunk of money! :o

underdog,

The revised core has several improvements over the current one. It will allow 24/7 operation, better air-flow for an easier draw and more secure mounting in the body while discontinuing the use of glue.

I'm working on a way to replace/upgrade existing 3/8" core'd pieces with this new core but haven't worked out all the kinks yet, I hope that will be possible but only time will tell. There won't be any changes to, or upgrades from 1/4" core'd pieces.. those will stay the same.

All new pieces starting now will be built with the new core.

I'm about to put my head through a wall today over money, so chances are you'll be done with those twigs before I have any cash at all.

My underdog is just about warmed up. I'm packing the glass stem with double screens 100% to the top and letting it rip. Hope that melts away the stress.

Dave I never sent that material we were talking about to you. I'll get it over to you next paycheck. Right now I can't even afford a stamp let alone a package.

No problem man, no problem at all! I can relate and feel your money-pain, especially after eating it on those bad power supplies and then taking 4-5 days off and losing that income. Ouch.

Anyways, I'll save a Twig for you, no worries... :)

I am at literally zero in my bank account so it is going to be a rough 2 weeks.

I realized today there is no vaporpedia entry for the Underdog!
http://www.vaporpedia.com/wiki/All_Vaporizers

I will write one eventually if you would rather spend some time in the shop, but you definitely know more about your product than anyone alive. Some good free advertising while getting reliable info to the community, can't go wrong there.

Just today noticed on the 7th floor vapes site it says:

"And, the *only* vaporizer with artistic beauty!" BOOOOO haha. They are cool, but me and my Jester immediately took offense.

Hahaha that's funny.. got my laugh in for the day.

I like your idea about making an UD entry for the vaporpedia.. if you were inclined to work on that I wouldn't be terribly opposed.. :D if not I'll work on it when I've got some spare time.

Hey darkrom - how much are you going to sell the Solo for realistically? It seems like the prices have dropped a bunch since they came out right? I've never used or even seen one.. how well do they work?

underdog,
I recently acquired a awesome used PD. The wood was looking a little dull and aged so I applied a tiny bit of the Underdog Underbutter with a clean sock. Now I only wish I'd taken a before and after shot because it totally brought the PD to life aesthetically, darkening and bringing out the detail in the wood, and days later you can tell how it's really soaked in.

Comparison wise, the Underdog 3/8 has a much less restricted airpath, a larger bowl, measurably larger cloud production (at the obvious cost of somewhat fewer hits), and a bit hotter temp at the same voltage.

I'm shooting for $150 for my stainless steel version. Its with a friend of a friend right now. Hopefully he pays this weekend. I don't know if I can get a twig right now, but I am going to start a twig savings fund lol.

I still need to ship that damn material out :uhoh: I'll try to do that this weekend, but I still need to figure out how much I am going to cut and the best way to send it.

The solo works and works well which is why its hard to sell, but it'll be worth it for a twig (aka puppy to me).

Ah, thanks for the info, hope you get it all worked out.

If your buddy doesn't buy it I might be willing to give you some trade credit for it but probably not the $150 you're hoping to get, maybe something more around $100. Always looking to pick pieces up to add to my fledgling vape collection... :p

IMO the solo isn't very dog like. A few people report bad smells and tastes. I am one of those people personally. It gave me headaches...sometimes. That is too scary for me.

Anyway the guy bought it even after I explained my issues with it. Some people just don't care as long as they get high I guess.

darkrom,
Dave my bell has a hairline fracture in near the wood near the element. I just noticed the other day and continue to use it, I assume the fine. It just gonna get any bigger is it?

Not entirely surprising with the B&W ebony.. some of these exotic woods can be pretty unstable. I don't imagine it should get very big but only time will really tell. The biggest concern would be if it makes the core loose, if that happens let me know asap!

How's she treating you otherwise? That was a pretty challenging piece to make with the nature of the wood and the super small size. :)
