also like darkrom mentioned, if there is a way to retrofit old vapes with new 24/7 cores, i would be all over it for the tortuga, since he is kind of a slow beast

So my glass stem is here with nice extras thanks to Dave

I am literally blown away by the quality of the stem. The pictures that I thought were nice do it no justice at all. It is thick serious american glass. Very high quality work. I am waiting for my Jester to heat up now so I can give it a run for its money. VERY pleased with the glass!

Dave what is the super small silicone stem for? Not the one that attaches to the glass to connect to the bowl, the one maybe 1/4 tall. Can't figure it out. So excited to try this out.

if there is no screen in it, my guess would be to slip it over the mouthpiece end to use in conjunction with water filtration.

also i think this might be a first for log vapes, but all you oil heads who don't like using torches and hot TI rejoice, for here is a safe method that ensures complete vaporization of your errrls

(i myself, will stick to my barbaric torch and hot TI most of the time since i just love watching that oil bubble, but this is a nice change when its impractical to use the torch.

So far smaller clouds with the glass stem, but equal high which is odd. The hits seem cooler too. I'm letting my UD sit. I'm trying to take a 3rd stem for science here. I am fairly confident the first stem was weak because I screwed up the screen and the silicone seemed loose. The second one almost feels too tight, but they should be the same so maybe there is new technique to get down? I am definitely getting exactly the same results, but I don't see such large clouds. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, but I can't figure out why it is happening.

Well I figured it out... I underpacked my stems the first two. Third time was a charm and I got my massive underdog clouds back AND my glass stem action. Fantastic flavor and hit quality. Very well spent $.

EDIT: WOW. Once I made some adjustments to how I put the bowl on and got used to the new stem I can't believe the hits I can take. Somehow they seem quite a bit cooler which I don't understand at all but I love that. Also I think the glass stems should come with a warning "not for asthma patients" because I seriously just had a coughing fit which is rare for me. The vapor was cool and I was ripping away thinking "is this leaking or something" and then I exhaled and saw the largest cloud of vapor I've exhaled to date. Very happy with the glass stem and I will be purchasing one for my future twig without a doubt.

It's a form for pressing screens. You set it down, trim a screen with scissors to a bit smaller size than the top of it then use the stick to push a screen down through it. You end up with a nicely domed screen that you can then push into a stem. Make sense?

Thanks Matt, Joe, stroh.. any/everyone else who has a piece of our new glass and is enjoying it, glad you all think it's a nice as I do!

I've been gone all day so I'll have to read through the thread to see what I've missed but I see multiple people asking if they will be able to retrofit if/when I update the core. The quick and simple answer is yes. I don't know how difficult it will be yet though so can't really go into specifics yet until I finish the new core and then retrofit a few in house for practice. I'll be spending a bunch of time working on this in the coming weeks and will keep you all updated as usual.

@ stroh - got the goblet back today, thanks! Also nice video of the oil vaping in your dog!

Thanks! I try to keep things as simple as possible so everyone can experiment and do things themselves.. also nice and helps keep the cost down on things that don't need to be pricey. I also now have smaller screens in stock so people can get them from me and no longer have to trim the larger ones down by hand.

I love using the mini silicone adapter and the glass stem because a small length of tubing will last many replacement connections. Perfect. Even with my UD running for an hour nice and toasty the hits are deceptively cool with the glass. I didn't expect cooler hits at all, I wonder why that is?

I think it's probably just the nature of the glass, I imagine it probably cools the vapor more/faster than a similar length of tubing. Hope you don't mind the effect... :brow:

just did my first screen replacement, picked up some screens as i was in the city and who can resist a visit to NY Gifts :brow:

. it took me a couple of minutes to figure out what works best i mean im still experimenting but i now have a general idea of how to get to the size and shape. i only butchered one screen

but i got the basic shape and size with the second screen. what i want to work on is folding the screens at the top so that they kind of interlock, i might need a pair of needle nose pliers to go further with that.

i have more airflow with the new screen, and most importantly its clean lol

dave you were right about the 1/2" screens, i can make 4 screens out of 1 sheet

. i think i am going to place an order for the screens that you use, they seem sturdier.

it really is easy to make the screens and i dont think i need the pliers any more

Cool, I'll be adding packs to the website soon. Do you already have one of the screen kits with the little stick and the small piece of tubing for a form? If not I'd be happy to throw one in the mail for you, no charge...

The screens I have are a heavier gauge industrial stainless steel than what you find in most head shops and the like.. I think they work a little better and hold their shape better too.

I'm sure I need to get my technique improved, but right now I'm actually getting better results with my silicone only stem. I'll keep practicing though because there is no reason the glass stem shouldn't work exactly as well. The glass stem is amazing so I really want it to grow on me.

The forum has been dead today, I was wondering where everyone was.. good to know someone is still out there hehe. I've been a busy bee in the shop tooling up for the soon to be litter of Twigs that's coming up next... :cool:

Yeah, I'm sure you'll get a technique down that works well for you for the glass but the simple silicone stem is tough to beat!

Yeah I just got a good normal UD size hit just now. I just put in a new screen as well. Tricky, but definitely a lot easier using the screen kit and the thing I was confused about. Makes shaping the screen easy, just a bit tricky to get it to stay nicely in the silicone coupler.

When I get used to it I think I'll love the glass more because of the feel of the glass vs silicone, but right now the silicone is just so easy that if I ever need to just "get down to business" I'd pull that out for now. But since I've gotten the glass I've been happily experimenting. I still get good results even when I'm getting smaller clouds, but I am 100% positive it is me just getting used to new technique.

If I had any say over the glass production the only thing I'd change is making the area that connects to the silicone a tiny bit fatter in diameter. I'd rather take a little longer to really cram it on than have it be a little on the looser side. It is not falling off or anything, I just prefer a snug fit.

The glass work itself is remarkable and I had no idea it was something this heavy/quality. I expected good glass, but I got great glass so I am extra happy with it. Complements to the chef on those if he doesn't read this forum.

Not sure what technique you guys are discussing, other than give it a good half hourto warm up and put in less medicine than you think you need. With that air-path clear, this things rips. From load to medicate, this is the easiest of my flower vapes to use.

Thanks for the new power supply!!!
I believe one of the problems is the end of the cord that plugs into the unit. When I leave that plugged in (with a rubber band keeping it in place) it works without problems. When I'd plug and unplug from the UD that led to not firing up. By plugging and unplugging from the outlet, my original hasn't stopped working.
Thought I'd share that.

Adobewan do you get hits as big and easily as with the silicone stems?

Part of me thinks I'm just inhaling too fast with the glass stem. I've been inhaling slower and getting good results, but with silicone I just pull pretty hard and get huge clouds.

Hmm thanks for the info Adobewan, I tried what you're describing and didn't get the same results at all.. just weird intermittent problems. Oh well I sent the remaining ones back to the vendor and the new ones seem to be working good for everyone I've talked to so far...

Oh and really glad to hear you're getting some enjoyment out of your dog.

Just to give you all a heads up it looks like I'll be traveling and won't be online from Thursday through Monday (20th - 24th).. so you'll all have to get by without my charm and tack-like wit for a few days. I know, this sucks but I'm confident you'll all somehow be alright without me. :brow:
