Holy god, I am baked! :ko:

2 bowls in, tiny speck of material.

The first hit was large enough to make me cough.

One thing you can definitely notice straight up is the vapor is significantly hotter then a whip vape.
You can check out my silicon tubing group thread over here http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=901 if you are interested in cooling down the vapor a bit.

Chubba said:
Does anyone elses PD whistle if the tube is at a certain angle?
The whistling is perfectly normal and as I believe it Tom has posted that its just air passing through the two holes on top of the unit as air is drawn in. I actually find that the audio cue by the whistling helps immensely to perfect technique.

Don't hear a whistle? That can mean the tube is likely packed to tight. Also I find the perfect "drawing zone" is just at or under the point where the whistling is barely audible. You'll also probably find that the vapor might be a tiny bit cooler with a slower draw.

Enjoy your new PD!

it's really much smaller than I had imagined for some reason.
 Yeah, this seems to be the case with all vapes. It's rare to see a vape pictured (by the makers and resellers anyway) along with a common object for perspective. So you're far from alone in your reaction, although Tom does make it clear that the PD is soda can size.

As ILoveRadiohead said, the sound is mostly a reflection of draw speed, so slowing down your draw will eliminate the sound and cool your vapor some as well.

Agreed on the whistling. I like to pulse draw just to the point of whistling then back off and start over. Works pretty good. In other words start off your draw really light and make it progressively stronger as you draw. Once it starts to whistle go back to a light draw and repeat. Its really more of a sipping than inhaling thing. Once you have enough inhale through your nose to finish the hit if that makes sense. I'd recommend at least giving it a try. I will say though there are many ways to use it all have different feels. The way I described seems to be the tastiest in my opinion.

It's quite a strange device in terms of inhaling.

The milkshake through a straw sums it up perfectly.

The best thing about it so far is leaving it on 24/7, just sits on the desk, looks like a piece of wood... 1 bowl gets me very lifted.

I got to cut down my usage with this PD, I ran 0.8g through it yesterday with a decent tolerance and by night it felt like I had been hit by a truck.

100% satisfied.

Welcome to the family Chubba.

Yes the whistle comes from the sharp right angle the air takes after entering the two holes and is a good low tech indicator of air flow.

What happens to material that falls out of the bowl and inside the unit?

I've just worked out that my tremlo bar on my guitar is a perfect fit for the PD bowl, little push and it's nice and secure... but I'm sure pieces are falling out now and then.

right but don't push it in too much or it will restrict air flow....
i find very little falls into the vaporizer unless someone rests the tube upright on the unit.

even your fingertip will provide enough 'tamp' to set the load in place. Once hot air hits it 'freezes'inplace. But sure a crumb or two are gonna fall. No problem they end up in the bottom where they do no harm or you can turn the unit over and give it a gentle tap or several actually to remaove any debris that has falllen in. Be sure to do this after vaping, not just before as it will create an odor for a nit as the old stuff goes past the hot resistor. I just never worry about it. Never turn mine over cause I never think about it. Maybe someday, every 3 or 6 months?

no purple days on vapenow today :(
i did see one on ebay last thursday for $250, buy it now. I don't know if it sold, but it is gone now.
Well, they still have 1/2 hour left east coast time. I'm seriously starting to think they're just fucking with us now. It says freaking Wednesday in the announcement. Whatever.

Well I'm glad I didn't miss it in the 30 seconds I spent dumping out my urine jar I kept by the computer so I wouldn't need bathroom breaks...good to see other refresh monkeys with me.

I'm still on a DBV which works great, but I'm sick of breaking glass parts and replacing them and I want somethin thats gonna last.

So now the question is do I ignore the fact that Vapenow is based in Vermont and keep refreshing my numbed ass off for three more hours while blood clots form in my legs or do I load up my Iolite, hit the piezo button and call it a night? I'm so Vapenow's bitch now and I don't like it! Sorry, I know, no complaining here. As soon as I get ahold of my own PD I'll start telling the other losers to shut the fuck up too, I swear! I think we should be allowed one complaint message each time we get re-fucked by Vapenow, at least while the wound is fresh. Oh, I guess that makes two for me this time. My bad!

So begins my quest for a PD! About how often should I expect to wait to get one if I'm checking vapenow daily? Do they really sell out in 3 min? haha

While I'm an old hand at burning herbs (40+ years), I'm brand new to the vaping scene. I got my PD about a week ago and although I thought I'd seen it all by now, this thing really opened my eyes! I still find it hard to believe how rippeed I can get on so little herb. Thank you and congratulations to the Days for an outstanding product. I see that some folks are upset with Vapenow. My experience with them was all positive. If I emailed them, they returned my email. I called and they returned my calls. That is more than 90% of businesses will do. Yes, I had to wait like all the rest and I failed on my first attempt but that is just the way it goes. Again, thanks to Tom & Pammy, and Vapenow for the experience! And thanks to FC for providing this forum.

Welcome to the Purple-Days Family, UncleHerb.

More bitchin'... Ya work seven days a week, till your hands are swollen and your back aches and what do ya hear? More bitchin'...

Move to Australia or France and order a PD from the PD crew. Or buy an SSV or Iolite, there are plenty to go around, no waiting, and great vapes too. No need to bitch. Just get another vape already.

I am not making fewer units than before, I am making more, because there is less chaos here in PD land. Vapenow gets the bulk of our production. More North American PDs available than ever before.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

While the chaos has slowed here, just listen to these posts and imagine my inbox, and what it was like before the switch. Plan C was real. Actually it was plan B till I hit on the VapeNow Solution.

Please offer constructive criticism. That is, a plan that will work better. Think of it from both side, not just the kid wanting candy side.

Do not suggest a waiting list... What? You want to put your name down and have me e-mail you when we have one available? Sure... So how long would the list be> And by the time I get around to e-mailing you, will you still want one? And do I wait arounf for you to e-mail me back about a product that you had a passing interest in 6 months ago? That is after I have e-mailed and waited on all those before you? Sure... THINK! It would never work.

Do not suggest back order. A back-order is for a sale that was made by mistake. I just got a call from Jameco, ordered 50 Transformers, they had 46, I have 4 on back order and know when they will be at Jameco, who is shipping them seperate. That is a back order.

Do not suggest taking money and people just have to wait. Read some of these posts to get a gauge on people's patience. Are we there yet? My in box would be full of, Is it done yet? And each answer would slow production of everyone's product. Believe me, it did ! Even a short lead time, like 2 weeks generates numerous e-mails.

Do not suggest raising the price till demand meats supply. Then only the rich would have them. I'm not here to cater to the upper classes.

Do not suggest farming part of the work out or hiring. I can't even afford to hire a minimum wage employee. This is a labor intensive product, which also requires a bit of skill to produce. If I have to hover over a min. wage monkey, I might as well do it myself.

Do not suggest having them built for us. See above. And secondly, there would be no assurance the right (RoHS) parts were being used. Not an option.

So suggest something. Plan B and Plan C seem to be my only options.

Plan B is to have VapeNow handle the North American sales and we handle all others. Plan B includes me not interfering with VapeNow's business practices (my rule). Plan B includes me shipping as many as possible to VapeNow weekly. Plan B does not include a weekliy bitch session about VapeNow. Stop it, please.

Do the math, they take about 4 hours to build, and there is one guy building them (with some help from my lovely assistant). How many a week do you suppose that is? I'll let you know I avg. 80+ hours a week (not bitchin', just a fact). Yeah, even then it's still not many.

With limited numbers like that, make a suggestion that will work. Either for us or for VapeNow. How would you do it better? Please think your answer through.

If it ain't constructive...

baikal, hiC, sinenomine & urdoinitwrong...please refrain from discussing availability here. I don't want to go on another post deleting binge, but I will. Feel free to email each other or join the chat room for these discussions.

i think someone should edit the whole "do not" speech by tom and put it on the front page some how. its an important post that could very well get lost. perhaps make a sticky?

In a way I agree, jklasd, but the tone in the beginning is hopeful and fun and even informative.. Now this mess has deteriorated to the point... Well, it might be a shame to spoil the story as read through from the start. :2c:

perhaps a stickey then? you leave all the hope and fun and imfortativeness(is that a word? lol) in this thread, and had a sticky for the dumbasses who dont get not to bitch and complain. waiting for a vape sucks. i waited little over a month for mine. but i knew it was gonna happen. and the vapenow situation, people know whats going on. its not gonna change, therefore, exspect it. dont need to like it, just gotta realize thats how the cookie crumbles(fuck i finally quoted that lol).
on a side and positive note, anyone hear of gear as a name bong? also how about red eye? i wanted to get a nice good see through bong to go along with my pd. and id like to get a name one, seeing how i hear nothing but good things from those.

i think we should open a thread in "The Vapor Lounge" called bitching about VapeNow, people just cant seem to get the idea that this thread is about the Purple Days vaporizer itself and nothing else ...

i understand that many people want a PD and i get it, but after reading toms last post i can understand how upsetting it must be for him to know that he is working his ass off, and keep reading about people complaining about the availability.

People Tom and Pammy are only human (two of the nicest on the planet), complaining about them being able to do only so much will not make them work faster or better, it will only discourage them, tom isn't doing this for the money that is for sure, don't give him a reason to stop making these useful art works.

i know it can be frustrating to wait, but tom cant do anything about it and is already doing the best he can, its ok to complain but stop doing it here.

Just a thought - as an alternative to people having to urinate in bottles refreshing the vapenow page incessantly they could also go wifi and bring a laptop to the bathroom.
As another alternative, if you don't mind my making a suggestion, how about people order and pay for PD's as they please with the very pronounced explicit understanding that each one is hand made and takes time - with the demand maybe up to 90 days until delivery - and when you order one you get a number, like you would in a bakery. On the website it could say what number is in production.
A customer can change their mind before production and get a refund.
So that alleviates the frustration and makes the situation more clear to everyone and also alleviates the pressure for Tom.

my pd just arrived and is currently warming up. i must say i agree with everyone in this thread when they say how surprised they are at the size of this thing. it's so small and so beautifully made. i can't wait to break it in all day today.

edit: just curious which bag people use to spit their avb in. which is easier small or big bag?
