Since I receive SSDI I have a little experience with CPI. The US government in an effort to save money on COLA costs, and other debt related expenses, uses schemes like hedonics, and geometric weighting to keep the CPI artificially low. The game is rigged. According to the govt. I have not needed a COLA for a couple years now, however, take a look at your next grocery bill. My IRA guy was telling me about how he made 16% on some sort of treasury fund he was messing around with. I complemented him and let him know that my wife was very satisfied with her 12% YTD return on the TOILET PAPER we have stockpiled in our garage. ;) Not to mention flour, sugar, rice, its all going through the roof and fast. The National Inflation Association (NIA) is a good resource, especially if you like Austrian economics. They produced a video called "Meltup" that is stunning.

PS- I am also outraged at what the Federal reserve has done to the $USD, and its ABUSE as the worlds reserve currency. We are exporting food price inflation to the rest of the globe at an alarming rate with our money printing. People are starving to death because of the Feds policies. Thats why at the riots in Tunisia the people were screaming "Give us sugar!"

I could care less about how much standard american foods costs (white flour, sugar, milk, eggs, meat, etc.)

Now what i could use and what I believe most people need , is better priced and more abundant organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

This site posts the daily USA National Debt...
http://brillig.com/debt_clock/
some interesting charts and facts on the site.
But, what gets to me is seeing ALL those numbers...

262mdes.jpg

"The estimated population of the United States is 311,394,167
so each citizen's share of this debt is $47,251.20.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$3.90 billion per day since September 28, 2007! "
(you each owe an extra $12.52 a day :o , somebody check my math, Tom)

Can you imagine? If this was a daily expense that you had to come up with? You would find a way tomorrow and make it stop. :2c:

I like this one for debt clocks. More #s moving in real time . . . its a trip. But its just a tool to try to wake people up on how far the math has gone the wrong way here. Most people do not understand the power of exponential growth. Once you start paying interest on interest, the payments go parabolic . . . What are we going to do when just paying the INTEREST on our debt is taking up the gross tax revenues of the IRS? Think it can't happen? Interest on the debt already accounts for over 25% of tax revenues collected by the IRS and its only going up folks.
