Why do some buds cash-out so fast?

I've gotten my herb preparation and vaping techniques down for most strains I typically vape. I enjoy a variety of different strains Indicas and Sativas, but never had any Ruderallis. One thing that puzzles me is how some sacks tend to go from fresh to cashed-out in half the time of more normal bud.

A recent example is some Northern Lights. Gorgeous looking flowers, seductive bouquet, light, but delectable flavor and after only three bags (just guessing ~3.5 Liter a piece at 366F, 366F, 372F) I was good to go. The reason I stopped at 3 is on attempting to fill number 4 but no visible vapor ceased, so I cranked it up to 378, nothing... 384, nothing. By this time, it started smelling fairly over-vaped, and it was as brown as the ABV from some Bubba Kush (which produced 6 bags of visible vapor).

Now, I know texture, how finely cut/ground, how moist/dry the ganja have huge implications on readily it releases its chemicals. So my question is: did I just vaporize the normal cannibanoid payload in a shorter time (which I'll take as a win)? Or did I fail and trap some of the active ingredients in the ABV (is that even possible)? I felt great afterwards, but I'm still not entirely certain what happened.

Has anyone else seen this? What does this mean?

how do the trichomes compare to your more vaporious sacks? it's all in the trichomes.

Yea ive actually noticed the better the herb, the more vapor it puts out. The better herb has more trichs

yep totally about the amount of crystals on your herbs to begin with. I have noticed the same also.

I would agree with this generally speaking. I know the regs I used to get wouldn't vape well at all.

But I also get some of my best weed that doesn't produce as much visible vapor as some of my inferior strains. I know it is a kick ass bag, but I don't understand the difference in vapor sometimes. Still hits me hard, just not as much visible vapor.

must be some of that "super" weed that peeps are talking about these days -- better genetics.

Possibly how it was grown and genetics. If its light and airy it wont be the same as a hard nugget. Generically speaking, more sativa will be more light and airy and more indica leaning will be more nugget like. Their are exceptions and is just a generic aspect.

If the plant was grown in not good conditions than it could be light airy than normal as well. Some plants just do not vape as well though. Not too common but it happens.

if it had been de-kiefed, would that be totally noticeable?

This.

And to wonder if it wasnt processed in one of those auto trimmers (that bangs your bud up even more)

Too many variables IMO as you prolly dont know where it originated etc.

The bud was in great shape. I don't think it was dekiefed, as it visibly dotted. Also, when I placed a nugget on my scale I could see hairs, trichomes falling off. Also the scissors with which I was cutting it, were getting sticky from all the resin.

Figuring it was an airflow/texture issue, on the subsequent bowls of that same bag of Northern Lights, I blasted some chopped up flowers at low 200's F, for about 30 seconds. Afterwards, the chunks were pretty brittle, so I ground that up pretty fine (like dust). In this form (with the same mass and temperature), I was able to get 5-6 bags with visible vapor. The vapor didn't taste quite as good as it does when it's just roughly cut up, but it certainly produces vapor longer.

Maybe it could be the structure of the trichomes? I know some strains have larger trichome stalks so maybe they could be vaporizing along with THC which is in the trichome heads.

I don't recall where I heard that, but it could be wrong. Just a stoned thought.
