let's talk baldness

just looked in the mirror an noticed my hairline is receding(only noticable whe I hold my hair back, I have middle-long very thick/full hair)
I don't really have a problem with it,well the phase where there is a bald spot on top but not fully bald yet will probably suck, for the rest I actually kind of like the bald look, maybe it's because my dad also went bald early, I can only remember him bald, and he also never did anything to hide it
there's also a pic of him on wich he is a little older as me now and one phase further then me on the Hamilton-Norwood scale (I'm in the first phase right now)
only a little annoying that on every page I get with google there's at least one ad for hair loss treatment and most articles also begin informative but end into commercial talk about how they can treat hair loss

so I'm wondering, any of you going bald? and how do you feel about it, and what are the reactions from others?

i think i'm going bald

i had long hair in my 20's but when i saw nature winning the fight i shaved it all off. luckily, my head is round so it looks o.k.

here for the chicks
I'm closing in on 40 now and still now signs of baldness. I don't think I'll ever go bald to be honest, yet I do shave my head. It's mainly because I'm lazy and it's less work to dry this way let alone style, that's coming from long hear way past the shoulders up until a few years ago. I also don't like to sit around in hairdressers waiting rooms because of the smell of all the products they use and the mind numbing small talk. It only takes 10 minutes a month to shave my head before I hit the shower and I'm done.

I may let it grow out again when it's all turned to silver, not sure. I kinda like the way a freshly shave head feels. It is bloody cold in winter times though, I even started wearing hats.

i started thinning out on top when i was about 25. i still got something up there but its getting thinner and thinner each year, sides and back grow like crazy. part of me wishes i still had enough to fro out like i used to (for fun) but mostly i dont care a great deal. its my body, its doing whatever its going to do, i dont see it much and if anything i imagine it helps keep me cooler (might be stretching on that one).

my face still grows hair so i do that.

Well im balding too and if you want to stop it you get this oil called minoxidil which you apply morning and evening to bald spots and slowly hair will start coming back, i use it and it works decently.

well it's caused by DHT I found, so the only real 'cure' would be to lower DHT(or to alter the dna of the hairfollicles so they get less receptive to DHT, but that's beyong current medical knowledge/experience)
DHT is a form of testosterone, it's formed out of regular testosterone
and I don't want to mess with my hormonal levels, I rather go bald than risking far worse by using something to alter my hormones(and the only permanent fix is getting castrated;))

I'm only 24 and have pretty severe frontal baldness. No sweat for me, no more trips to the barber as
I shave my head myself now.
