Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

Back, after such a huge break. It surely sucked being back on the combustion life. One of my close friends bought the PD off me because he fell in love with it, paid it cash (really damn good cash too), he is too lazy to order anything, but that kept me away for 2 or so months

Pam and Tom were so kind to have my PD shipped on the 10th of April, I had to wait 3 weeks for my order, but it was well worth it to be honest. It was shipped on the 10th, and it arrived on the 14th. International postage to Australia.

SUGGESTION:
-Vapenow.com should open early orders or early announcements to registered FC.com users before they open it on their site (according to availablity).
-Discount to registered FC.com users.
I know I am a newbie to the site but I love it so much and want a PD sooooo bad, figured I would just throw it out there. :peace:

mod note-post deleted-wrong thread and you don't qualify yet
Make your offer here- http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=453 after you have 30 days as a member.

This thread is for talking about the PD, not about how to get one, new or used. It's been made clear what you need to do, according to where you live, to acquire a new PD, and this is not the 'used vape for sale' thread. If these questions about PD availability continue to be posted, we're gonna just start deleting them. We don't have any inside info here. It's info@purple-days.com for sales outside North America (or service), and here's the contact page for vapenow- http://vapenow.com/index.php/contact_us/?zenid=d4a4d63a871c26fd3a7276498c27a77d

Looks like the PD is gone from the vapenow store again...
Do we need this reported every time the guy makes a change to his site? He may be changing the wording for the 'out of stock' page or getting ready to put up the 'in stock and available' page.

If you're worried that the PD isn't going to be available from Vapenow, don't. The owner has a very good relationship with Tom and Pam, and I feel quite sure that as long as the PD is going to be produced in quantity, Vapenow will be selling it.

good to be back, and with so many PD owners i can see how i got misplaced ...

it seems that the little PD secret is out and everyone wants one ...
always knew it was just a matter of time & i think its just the beginning.
for all of those that have yet to buy one, get it ASAP, its worth every cent and like max says at this price its a steal, and all the stuff you hear about the customer service being the best, its not just a buzz, its the real deal !!!

Thanks Tom & Pammy

P.s. sorry to hear that the LED had to go but can totally understand it.

After getting over the initial disappointment of the PD fiasco........I must say that Tom has been pretty darn attentive with the emails and answering questions in this forum. I still believe that this transition could have been handled in a much better fashion.......but hindsight is always 20/20. Secondly, after my initial disappointment when trying to reach Vapenow.......I can say that they answer emails pretty quickly.......and did call me back later in the day after I did (hesitantly) leave my contact information on their answering machine. The guy that returned my call from Vapenow was very kind, and it seems if everyone will just exercise considerable patience, that most with desire to be PD owners will be able to fulfill their dreams in the not too distant future.

On a separate note....another poster commented on my use of the term "fanboy" when speaking to PD owners after the initial board meltdown. I used this term because at the time......those who owned PD on this forum were responding as if Tom could do no wrong and was incapable of error.......like the undying love that Apple owners display for Steve Jobbs. Perhaps the term "fanboy" was a poor choice, and I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone to the degree that I apparently did. However, in my estimation at that point in time a mistake had been made.....and I didn't hesitate to point it out. I would hope this forum is open to discussion of all kinds......whether it be negative or positive. I realize nobody wants page after page of beating up on a great guy that makes nice vapes.......and understand why this forum shouldn't devolve into that. However, as a business owner one has to take responsibility for their decisions.......good or bad. Those that wished to voice displeasure over the decision making process should have that ability.......and threatening to ban folks for voicing a dissenting opinion leads to a phenomenon called groupthink........where everybody just agrees with whatever the master says. I hope this board can always allow for opinions to be heard.....regardless of whether they are in line with what Tom or one of the moderators thinks is appropriate. I'm not saying that pages of bitching is appropriate......but well informed dissenting opinions aren't always a bad thing.

That being said........part of the reason I liked this forum and settled on ordering a PD was the pages and pages I was able to read before making my choice.....and I do remember there being quite a few questions about the heating element that went on for several pages........with one member stating their element didn't work right and was combusting their herb......and several of the proud PD owners and Tom stating that was impossible. Well, if my memory serves me correctly, there WAS an issue with this particular users PD....and it was finally acknowledged. The problem with this being that the minute it was brought up on here that this person thought their PD was defective.....several jumped on him/her stating that it was basically impossible, only to later confirm it was true. This is the problem with the "fanboy" mentality.......and again, I'm sorry to use that word if you find it offensive.......but if all you can see is one side of a coin......you never realize that there might be a picture on the other side as well. Just saying that while the PD may be the most cost effective, effecient vape on the planet right now.......occasionally someone may have a different opinion about the device, or the man that produces that device.....and that some folks here might need to be less dismissive of a dissenting opinion. Just my :2c:

Problem is you have two different users and two different resolutions confused. I suppose it's easy to do.

Updated resistor data, 50 more tested, post #2458.

Alright JK: I will take it easy with the ........sorry. I tend to do this when I don't feel like finishing a thought with a period......and just continue with my thought. Christ, I wonder when my first post will be on this forum where somebody doesn't try to bend me over upon completion. LOL.

Tom: Sorry to confuse the two different problems/resolutions. The point I was trying to make is that there were problems and resolutions. However, when the problems first came up there were several folks trying to insinuate that the problem was with the user as opposed to with the device, resistor, heat exchanger etc. I know the problems were resolved because I read the posts, and I appreciate the fact that you address these concerns yourself. However, because of the unique rapport you have built with several of the members/moderators here, they are quick to jump on anyone who questions anything related to the PD. Since you are just a human being, and we are dealing with electronics etc. there are always going to be issues. Your quality control seems unparalleled in the industry. However, if every time there is a real issue somebody cries foul just because their unit works great, it kind of defeats the purpose of posting legitimate concerns. I feel if you have a legitimate concern it should be able to be posted here without ten guys who like their PD's or are fans of yours jumping down their throat. Again, just my :2c:

Whoa there. I was the one that first reported a heat problem, and Tom was VERY quick in suggesting that it may be a bad resistor way before I ever sent it in.

On another note, the reason why other PD owners were suggesting that it may be user error is because I was the FIRST one, in a 90 page thread, to EVER report an issue like this with the PD. As a matter of fact, I may have been the first one to report ANY issue with the PD, so it makes perfect sense for people to assume that it was user error rather than a problem with the vape. That does not make them fanboys.

You and I have different views of what a fanboy is. On various sites, there are Volcano fanboys, who will tell anyone who is inquiring about a vape, that the 'Cano is the ONLY one to get. Hell, they'll even suggest a Volcano to a person looking for a portable. THAT is a fanboy.

That doesn't happen here. Just look at the sub-head under the title of this site. That sub-head alone will counter anyone even trying to be a fanboy here.

Nubilo, you just started off on the wrong foot here by labeling the members here with a negative tag, that in my mind, was totally unwarranted and now you're trying to defend it.

Negative comments about vapes is ALWAYS welcomed here, just as are positive comments. Like so many other things, it's not what you say, but how you say it. There's a great line in the movie, Shindlers List, which is..............."It's all in the presentation".

nobilo...I also use the repeated period, but keep it to a limit of three at a time. I have yet to receive any flack for it. Maybe you should drop from six periods to three?

Your groupthink concerns are valid, imo. I've mentioned the same thing before, but I don't think it's much of a problem here. I personally can't seem to tear myself from my PD, but you won't find me praising it much here because we have enough of that already, and I don't want to contribute to what you are seeing...but the unit is awesome!

I think your biggest mistake was showing up here and stirring the pot in your first five posts, while messing up the facts. Hang around and get familiar with the place and let us get familiar with you. We've had plenty of people show up here and immediately throw down the gauntlet only to get smacked around. I'd hate to see that happen to you, as I think your posts are well thought out and have some merit.

My biggest problem with this thread right now is people still want to conduct business here...purchases or repairs, etc. I know it has been this way for a while, but it needs to change. THIS THREAD IS NOT A PLACE TO WORK OUT YOUR PURCHASE OR REPORT AN ISSUE WITH YOUR UNIT. If you have a problem with your unit, the appropriate thing to do is contact the vendor in private to work it out. You should only come here to discuss the problem if:
1 -- it was worked out and you want to praise the vendor, or
2 -- it was not worked out to your satisfaction and you want to warn other members.
I'm going to police this pretty hard here for a while until we all get it.

Finally, henny, not to pick a fight, but I just noticed that my purple bottle has not lost any iso after sitting for a month, so maybe mine is air tight.

Sticks you hit it.

Two approaches were taken.

One by lwien, he thought there was an issue and contacted the mfg. . He had previous PD experience and was right, there was a problem. The only one like it we have ever seen. We started working on a solution and he came here (the forum) to report on the possible problem and that steps were being taken to correct the problem. I continue to report on resistor stats and will. I made a mistake. There are now QC steps in place to see that it doesn't happen again.

Another user reported scorching, to the forum. He had his PD only hours and assumed he had the same problem as lwien. He did not go to the mfg first. Turns out that user error and protruding material from the bowl caused his problems, along with possible draw speed issues, yet he condemned the crossbar, resistor and a few other items as the cause of his woes. After learning to load the bowl properly has reported (to me) that he likes the PD. The same user also came to the forum reporting he had a problem with the car adapter. After testing the car adapter in our facility we have found nothing wrong. The fuse is good, the wire is good, the plug is good. Only conclusion again is impatience and user error. Either no juice at the power point, )(ignition off etc.) or unit not fully plugged in. But, going to the forums first, without consulting the maker confused things to the point that he had to send everything in to be checked and returned without there being an actual problem. As checked before leaving here it all works and is within specs. And was returned by 2-3 day priority mail on the same day as received. Edit:now that I think back it may have gone out the next day, I'm not 100% certain.

Happy 4/20 folks. Guess I will stick to three periods...as the suggestion has been made that this won't inspire the negativity that six periods seems to elicit. Also, thanks for showing me the way so I can more easily conform to the norms and mores of the FC board...I would hate to offend anyone else on a vaporizer discussion board.

Going to take a break from your board until I can acquire a PD. Perhaps then I might have something to contribute that doesn't have folks continually in an uproar.
