I was all set to order at exactly 10pm and now this!!! guess I have to dig a little deeper into my pockets ($180), oh no still coming up with lint! it's all good Tom it's understandable. i guess i will have to wait again till vapenow updates the site instead of saying "sold out". congrats Tom and lots of success to you and Pammy.
I wasn't bitchn', maybe venting a little??? i was still planning on buying one even after the announcement just have to save a little more and wait a little longer, so what no biggy. I wish Tom and Pam all the best and success (as I said in my original post). love this site so i'm not even trying to get banned :peace:
Glad to be getting back on topic by the way.

OK? Are we over the bump? We had good intentions but \Plan A would not work. Hope everybody understands now. This is Plan B.

It really did waterfall in the last couple of days. Great rapport with VapeNow, mutual trust and respect made this all possible. This isn't something hammered out between lawyers, just an understanding between friends, and a few e-mails later it's done. Bob's your uncle...

And every party gets something. Maybe we loose the most. The customer contact. It is something that we very much enjoyed, but became too much. How to answer each e-mail, and every one deserved the same PD treatment. I hated making that generic e-mail, how rude, never done such a thing. But that is what the PD world had become. No way to answer a flood.

And no way to make a PD, or even enjoy one, when there are more keystrokes than wood chips.

I started this to make a vape or two for us, then a few for friends. Not sell vapes, or be covered in paperwork and office work. I build ! I am a carpenter ... and other skills. I want to smell newly opened wood, and make metal into shapes it has never seen ... I want to build something, not sell it. This was never about money, but you must survive, if you can;t make a living at something... So rather than close the doors on Purple-Days we have taken a few steps in the right direction.

It has been observed that I have been on the edge of burn-out. I agree ! The last weeks have been the last of that. Either we did something, or quit. I said all along if it wasn't fun I would quit. I feel a certain obligation to go on, but I can't keep up, and something had to change. We view this as a possitive step for everyone.

@ any who think we lie: Sorry about the confusion and 'stutters' on the way to Phase Two of Purple-Days. We don't lie, but we did change plans. Again, you couldn't have bought what was never made or for sale (anywhere). We pride ourselves on honesty and you have hurt Pammy, I am a big boy and know you are wrong. :p

Hello, all,

PD's are in high demand and are at an extremely reasonable price. Many who would love to fondle a PD are also willing to pay the big bucks.

Tom and Pammy, perhaps you would be willing to auction an extra one or two PD's a month on eBay as a "Charity PD?" Many of your beloved customers are suffering from cancer and other serious diseases. We, as a PD community, could decide on a proper charity beneficiary for the profits from this "Charity PD" auction.

We love you, Tom and Pammy! I feel honored to have ordered my PD through you personally, rather than a larger company. Your kindness and generosity was charming. Keep it up!

Wow. What a great idea.

Ok, I know that this isn't quite right, but my marketing head is spinning on this idea. No vape company has ever done this before.

I know the temptation is to just keep it behind the scenes, but..............but........(I can't help it. 30+ years of marketing/advertising has warped my brain) :ninja:

Look, I don't dig auctions. And we just wouldn't ever do this to promote our vape. Maybe a donation instead?

Edit:I have another idea, contact me please, but I want no promotion of the PD.

Updates:

Statistics-
Resistors- as of April 15, 2009
New testing: 128
stated as accuracy of mfg values
120 at value or <+/- .005 variance
7 at < +/- .01 variance
1 at approx .02 (rejected)
Mfg tolerance +/- .05
1 returned unit +.06... QC steps taken !

Testing more and posting here as they are tested. Latest figures April 19, 09.

The resistors are quite accurate and there was an obvious oddball. We have tested dozens before and never found one like lwien's, I made a mistake and thought they were 'all' perfect. Steps taken to test every single one, several times through the construction process (double checks on the entire circuit).

Hi guys,
I'm a medicinal user, I've got a rare disease and need a vape because tobacco is really toxic in my case.
I've been watching daily, for weeks, on the website to get a chance to buy this amazing product. I understand that they cannot afford the success of the PD, but I'm in Europe here, and I don't really understand what's going on now : will there be a few vapes on sale every 2 weeks? How can I get one of them?
Should I buy another vape, or is it useful to wait 2 weeks (again) and hope...

This is for the folks crying out over the $30 price increase.

a.) Shut the F up. You shouldn't vape then.

b.) The $30 increase is for folks that do not belong to this lovely community. Don't forget that VapeNow gives FC members 10% discounts, which makes the PD $162

:p

As to VapeNow,

Perhaps you should try email, I have had tremendous support from them over the last couple of weeks.

Good choice by Tom and Pammy to make them the sole distributor, I hope it frees them up so that they can have a life, and not be so stressed trying to keep up with the growing demand.

Now that ive discoverd the PD, I see it being alot like the Wii.... so hugely popular that if you dont get one when they are readily available, you will have to wait untill one becomes available. Combine that with the fact that they are hand made and you have a product that is worth waiting for, its not like they are rolling off an assembly line by the hundreds.

I wonder if Tom and Pammy had any idea when they started this that, the pd was going to be so hughley popular, and that demand was going to be soooo great.

In closing I would remind folks that the good stuff is worth waiting for, and that quality comes at a cost.

Give it some time, let the manuf and distributor adjust to the market demand for the PD and all will be well.

Laterz,

My bad. VapeNow is not offering the 10% discount for fuck combustion members. Sorry for the misinformation dudes. $180 is still a GREAT price for a Purple Days!

All Purple-Days Diffusers ordered at Purple-Days.com have been filled and shipped. Some may still be in transit. If you ordered from us, deal with us. If you are an overseas customer, deal with us. If you are going to order or have a back order with VapeNow you will deal with them.

Okay, so then do you know which days they recieve stock?
As it seems they will not be doing back orders.

It's well worth the wait, and you get to deal with Tom and Pam. :)

This may have been a case of 'be careful what you ask for'. I know that this high of a demand after only a year on the market was unexpected, but also unexpected was the high stress of trying to meet demand in a timely manner and also deal with all the questions about delivery, special logos, different woods, etc. We've also seen these kinds of questions posted here, but I'm sure they haven't even been the tip of the iceberg compared to what Tom and Pam have had to deal with via emails.

They won't compromise the product by putting any part of the production process in someone else's hands, and we should applaud them for that. We should also be thankful that they're using plan B instead of plan C, which would mean no more PDs for anyone. They should be able to enjoy both their PD building and their life, and hopefully this method of selling will work out well for them.

This forum is different from others, in that manufacturers are allowed to post about their product(s). It's a plus for them, but also a chore, in that they have to respond to our questions. But it's a big plus for members too. You get to find out a lot more info on the vape, both historical and the inner workings, and even have the chance to help improve the product. We've seen this with the PD, Inhale/iolite, and Magic Flight. So are we a little more protective of our 'posting vape makers'? Probably so. They cease to be a faceless money making organization and put themselves out here on the forum for us to question and pester. The more they post the more they become real people and even friends to us. If someone comes on the forum and starts making assumptions and drawing conclusions about Tom and Pam's honesty after reading maybe the last few pages of a 100 page thread, chances are good they're gonna get jumped on. It's easy for new members to perceive us as a 'PD cult' or a bunch of 'fanboys', but if you read enough here you'll see we're also fanboys for the SSV, Genie, Herbo, VHW, Extreme, etc. We appreciate quality and know what the best vapes and values are. I hate the term 'fanboy' and don't like to see anyone here use it. We'll accept criticism of any vape or company as long as it's justified and someone isn't on a vendetta because they didn't get the treatment they think they deserved. We like the different path we've taken here and intend to continue it. We can't satisfy everyone. No forum can. But we can offer info you can't get anywhere else and I predict that our relationships with vape makers will continue and hopefully spread to other manufacturers as well. Anyone who doesn't appreciate the benefits of FC membership is free to move on to the other, run of the mill forums. Over at 420magazine.com they've got a 12 page I-inhale/iolite thread and they don't even know that product changes are in progress, let alone what the changes are. ;)

The long and short of it is, if you live in the US and haven't ordered a PD yet, you need to go through Vapenow. You should also direct all ordering, supply, delivery and pricing questions to Vapenow. The whole point of this move is to offload the tons of work it is to run a business and fulfill orders. Asking Tom ordering and fulfillment questions here defeats the purpose, doesn't get you the answers you need, and most importantly, keeps Tom from making PD's. It will help Tom tremendously if the only questions he has to answer regarding supply come from Vapenow.

This is obviously different from how things have been done in the last several months, but we all need to adjust the kind of questions we ask in this thread to keep the PD's coming!

I have asked vapenow already, I am not asking when i can buy a PD I am asking when vapenow recieves stock from them, which I thought was valid and the correct people to ask..If I'm going to be checking the site again and again, I'd like to have a more narrow window than the next 7 days type of deal, since there is limited quanity available and all..
If the PD's are mailed to them, then who knows, I just know vape now is recieving limited stock on a weekly basis, and I'm trying to get an edge on aquiring some of that limited stock ;)
