my dog enjoys lying on cool tile with his head on something warm, like my laptop's ac adaptor, or, if it's on the floor, my top.

And those new glass tubes look great... But it looks so nice with wood.

By the way-- With the more cylindrical designs like the Tower, have you thought about a heat-isolated battery compartment? Just enough for maybe 30 minutes of use? that would only be 500 mah, right? I'm thinking that with the charger port on the bottom you could create a fairly simple 'dock', so users could pick it up, pass it around , and set it back down in its charger-- The first handsfree log vape. I guess that would also necessitate an LED too. But it could be done, with minimal complexity.

I've got to agree with you on the stem. I think the look of a wood stem with a wood vape is very nice. And Alan does such nice work.

I would need the stainless steel bowl part of your Iolite to tap it for the threads on the Toasty Tube. The Iolite has much better airflow with the glass tube on it. You can send me an email if you like.

Orestes - I love that your dog likes the Toasty Top. He must find the heat comforting. The TT is looking good. I like the way you are thinking about the handsfree Toasty Tower. Something to keep the power to it while it is unplugged. I will have to do some more thinking on that one.

I have been messing with the clip and my unit still seems to turn off once or twice a day. Alan you have any quick fixes to this?

There is an electrical connection challenge somewhere. The white rubber power plug should be pushed as far into the wood button as possible. It will fit very snugly. You may need to twist the rubber power plug into the tip. Send me an email if your unit is still getting cold during the day.

I'm seriously considering investing in one of these units - but I'm a little confused over its use with glass. I need to get a silicon gasket to get a tube to mate with a 14mm joint right?

An Ambrosia Maple Toasty Tower would be quite nice stoney. I always enjoy making custom units. It just may take a little longer as I haven't built up a large inventory of special wood yet.

Hammerzeit - A short piece of 3/8" silicone tubing slides over the poly tube to provide a seal to the glass. I will provide the piece of tubing if you plan to use it with glass.
I'm not sure about the new 13mm glass tubes yet. I may be able to provide a partial ground glass taper on one end. I need to get some glassware and do some research.

Update - I was able to grind a taper on one end of a short glass tube. It should fit into a 14 mm taper joint.

Alan I cannot put into words how gracious I am to find your package in my mailbox. I thought it was gonna be another hard week of combustion but low and behold Alan got a new heating element to my front door in only two mail days. The new glass tube surprised even me; that puppy is thick and sound. Keep on doing what you're doing because quite frankly I have NEVER received a package so promptly.

I normally do not like to do glass to glass connections but anyone with a silicone whip could simply cut half an inch to act as a connector from the new stem to their diffuser. I got the idea off of the solo thread, but be weary it is this type of macgyvering that typically breaks glass.

+1 for Alan being so helpful as always and hooking up the order. If you want a vape with good customer service, this is definitely something The Toasty Top has!

Interesting PD comparison photos. There is quite a bit less wood with the Toasty Top as compared to the PD.

You are welcome bio. Didn't want you to go too long without your Toasty Top. I hope the heating element was easy to replace. I wanted it to be easy enough for the owner to do it themself. I even found that the heating element fits perfectly into the cap of a protective poly tube for sending in the mail. I'm finding more and more uses for those tubes. Hope your TT is toasty now and you are enjoying your new glass tube.

My Toasty Top arrived Monday as promised. The first thing I did was power up the top. Then I swapped the tip on the glass stem to the PD compatible brass tip and tried it out on my PD. Very nice.

I've since tried a couple stems with the TT. Vaped like a champ. Much more testing required.

Question for TV, could you turn some Ambrosia Maple if I mailed it to you? If so, what would be the required dimensions?

Very nice photos cisco. Thanks for sharing. Nice to finally see a side by side comparison of the Toasty Tube and the PD tube. Does the PD tube fit into the poly cleaning tubes? That would be good news for PD and Zap owners. They can save money on cleaning by using less alcohol. I pour my dirty alcohol (ethyl) into a shot glass and then mix in some fresh herb when the alcohol is almost evaporated. Very potent when it dries.

The photo shows all the things you get with the Toasty Top. One bamboo skewer is simply pointed on one end and flat on the other. I use it to stir / poke the herb in the roasting tube. The other bamboo skewer is chiseled on one end and flattened like a spatula on the other end. This can be used to harvest oil directly from the tubes. The beeswax bee'ds melt on the hottest part of the wood and can be worked over the entire surface of the top. The copper cap is great for aromatherapy.

I need a chunk of wood 3 x 3 x 3.5 stoney. I'm used to doing custom orders from my various hobbies so would be happy to turn some wood you provide.

TV...the PD stems do fit into the poly cleaning tube but with minimal clearance. It takes a bit of coaxing to get the stem back out of the tube. Somebody will get one stuck so I'd suggest caution in using for PD stem cleaning.

One question: What are the included extra o-rings for (high temp silicone I assume)?

One suggestion: With the diminutive size, I think the TT would be great for use with water tools. Offering options for either gong stems or stubby poly stems to fit 14 and 18 mm joints would be a plus.

cisco - I'm still discovering ways to use the high temp silicone o-rings.
Some have used them to around the tip to limit the depth of insertion into the heat sink tube. The deeper the insertion, the higher the temp.
It can provide an additional seal where the connecting tube threads into the tip.
Thanks for trying the PD stem in the cleaning tube. I was just curious.
A gong stem option would be ideal. It could be used as a mouthpiece and also on a glass joint. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Have been wondering why my Toasty Tips won't fit into the PD heat exchanger tube as I believe it is also 3/8" stainless steel tubing. 5/16" stainless steel tubing will slide perfectly into 3/8" stainless steel tubing. That is why my tips are 5/16" stainless steel tubing. The ends of my heat sink tube are flared out by design. This allows a 5/16" hole all the way through my heat sink. Several photos I have reviewed of the PD show the top of the heat exchanger tube to be just parted-off tubing. Some tube ends looked to have a bit of a sharp edge inside. This explains why my tips won't fit into the PD heat exchanger tube.

I'm glad the ground glass Toasty Tube works in your 14mm joint. That is very good news for anyone who wants to run vapor from their Toasty Tube into their glassware using only glass.
That is very cool that you can use your Toasty Tubes in either your TT or PD. It is also nice to be able to use your Ed's wooden tubes on the TT. You have a lot of flexibility now. Plus you can run the TT and the PD at the same time now.

TV...on the stem compatibility, the PD heat port is about 1 mm smaller OD and has thicker walls so an even smaller ID. I'm going to guess that this heat port wall thickness difference is likely the primary reason the TT runs relatively "hot". And to push the "hot" up a bit, I'm using the PD unregulated AC adapter to deliver about 13v to the TT versus the 12.2v from the supplied TT DC adapter.

By golly, GVAPE got a 14 MM gong joint. I hope it works out cuz I really want to use the TT with water tools. I did check the poly stem fit with my LW leisure downstem, it works but not tightly.

Hey, I've found a source for some fantastic wood, but they have a $75 minimum. Don't suppose 3 people are interested in going in on some? We could just have the wood shipped directly to alan.

Also I do not know how this distributor dries their wood, and just how cured our batch will be if we do decide to purchase it. I'm sure other people in this thread know much more then I do about it.
