Does anyone know where I can just get a top cap for the solo? Not the little rubber flap piece, but rather the entire screw off top cap. My unit fell over and now there are a few little dents/marks on it.

contact arizer but I would guess your out of luck. I have more than 1 M106 and the caps are NOT interchangable.

good point, I thought they were all interchangable.

vape4life,
Today has been a good day. 2 months after hearing of the solo I finally have enough dough to place an order with the good folks at VapoShop. 2 months of unexpected bills after a fairly crippling Christmas and New Year. 2 months of jealously reading post after post of happy users. I'm finally ready to join you guys!

And if ordering a solo wasn't good enough, I also just found out that Field Music will be playing in a nearby venue in a couple of months! Obviously OT, but for those of you not familiar with them, I can only say that I consider this news worth sharing :)

Looking forward to actively participating in this wonderful thread. Thanks to all those brave souls who have paved the way for a noob vaporist such as myself, your work and experimenting is to be commended :)

Thanks to this wonderful forum, and to the uber-helpful folks over at VapoShop!

Hey Talkshowman

Glad you made the leap, you wont regret it, and like Xchadb said , any questions feel free to ask.
Just one bit of advise, if you get some screens get the stainless steel ones and not the brass ones like i did as they are too flimsy.

Spin the stem for even vaping? I find that unnecessary as the solo vapes evenly without spinning.

Great minds think alike! :)
Ordered some ss ones from Vaposhop while I was there, read something about potential lead additives in brass ones, that was enough to make me go for steel ;)

Now to distract myself til the solo arrives....

can i stick my male joint in there?
Thanks PlanetVape for the new screens. those little one you sent me are perfect!!! i think those should be the size you should sell for the solo. just slightly bigger then the bowl so it domes up a little in the middle which i think is perfect. Thanks again PV.

Do you know what size they are? I just ordered 100 stainless steel 3/4 inch screens off of ebay for 6 bucks shipped.

I like the cottonball in the end of my stems rather than a screen but that's just IMO. You only need to pull off one end of a q-tip to have enough

I've switched the caps around on 3 Solo's, they all fit fine. 2, 105's and a 106, never a problem.

Great to hear, thanks for the feedback. We do very much listen to our customers and have already changed to shipping the slightly larger screens for the Solo. We also had requests for a finer screen mesh, so if you notice the new slightly larger screens are also finer than the older screens, yet don't impede the airflow at all.

Thanks again for taking the time to test and report on the screens.

Received my new black 107 today (previous one was a silver 103)

warms up faster, stems are tight (old was loose) , I feel like the ceramic 103 still gets hotter despite the tweaks they made after the 105, but ill have to test around some more.

I'm really liking how the stems are tight, I can lay it on the side, upside down, I dont have to tell others to be careful. The tightness is due to a ridge they incorporated in the ring on top of the SS bowl. (as Iloveboobs mentioned few times in this thread) not due to the hole in the metal cap

some have said their tightness became loose after a while, and I can see it happening with the friction excreted on the ridge (which is a rather soft material) I hope I can reduce the wear, or easily replace the rings as they get worn. I really don't want to lose that feature.

draw is a tad more restrictive due to tight stems I assume.

I hope battery life is still the same.

hmmm we should really get PV to start selling these new stem rings, that way older models can fix the loose stem problem.

I agree, as awesome as the m107 is and the SS bowls are, I still think my old m102 ceramic was hotter and extracted fuller thicker vapor. Then again I had the weird smell issues with it. Yes the 107 heats up much quicker like the 105 but I think the ceramic still had better battery life.

I really wish that the ceramics weren't abandoned but the SS 107 is still incredibly awesome.

I disagree about the cap though. Without it my stems are loose and fall out, but with it on they "snap" into place.

My ceramic had no smell issues, but just the other day, I noticed a nice chunk chipped off the sidewall. not sure when it happened, I tried my best to not mess it up too.

I guess some caps are different, my cap hole is wider than the stem, so it slides through without friction.
for me its definitely the ridge on the ring. In this pic, im holding it straight up by the stem.

I would be game, perhaps even something of different material that retains health properties but wont wear down quickly (a type of metal maybe?)

steven22,
after using both the m105 and m107 for a few weeks each, battery life on the m107 lasts about 60% of the m105 on the same setting (5). This makes a lot of sense because setting 5 on the m107 is about 7 on the m105.

Blackpanthaa,
Forgive me if this has been discussed. I look around, searched, didn't see it.

Has anyone been talking about how the software on the M105 might be altered to match the newer M107s or even the old ceramics?

I love my M105. Favorite vape ever, by a mile. But I do wish it were a little hotter. I'm always up at a 6 or 7. I'd like to see my current 7 down around 5, maybe even 4. I don't care if it reduces battery life.

I assume the software is on a PROM (programmable read-only memory). Does anyone know if it's soldered in place? Sometimes they're in a socket (which is soldered in). I'm no electronics guy, but I think I could swap out a socketed PROM if Arizer offered a new one, or even have one made if they made the software downloadable.

Has anyone talked about this? And to those more knowledgeable about such things, does what I'm saying mke sense?

The guy who did the complete teardown in this thread has pictures showing some sort of a connector port on the internals. Not sure what it is exactly, but it may be worth checking out those posts
