my ritual when turning it on,
hold the two buttons till the long beeps, once that beep stops, hold the down button till she boots up to warp 7. when the lights hit warp 3-5 i put the stem in and give it 10-15 seconds, then start hitting. the first hit is usually just a little cloud, but the tastiest of the bunch, then it moves onto pure cloud territory. usually have to run 2 cycles to really drain a bowl dry.

RINSE

it's a nice!!!

i have also tied a string around mine with a slipknot at the other end to wrap around my wrist, cuz sometimes i get stoned and forget about it, and too many close calls with standing up with it on my lap.
problem solved!! lol. now i just need to get a stem that fits properly and im golden

I'm enjoying the straight stem too. I was so used to the bend ones that I was a bit uncomfortable with using them at first, but I figured out another way to comfortably turn 'm upside down without the stem falling out and insert it in a downstem one handedly.

I like it mostly for esthetic reasons though, it just looks better to me as a whole this way.

Im loving the straight stems also so im with you on this one, another reason is my 3 hole straights bowl is bigger then the bent stems bowl so i can inhale for longer.

Mine came with 2 bent stems (2 hole) I have only found replacements on Ebay so far. Can anyone recommend where they get the best (US) price on replacement stems?? THanks in advance...

Woah, my insomnia was at it's worst last night & I ended up sacrificing one of my oiled stems for a hot drink. I'd never done this before simply because I like torching them to much, but I figured what the heck lets give it a try.

I'm lactose intolerant & I was out of soy milk so I just made some coco with hot water & little sugar, didn't seem to matter. Even though the stem wasn't covered with that much oil it did the job nicely & everythingthat was one it dissolved quickly because of the heat. I got about the same high as when I make 3 to 4 gram ABV firecracker. Took an hour to work or so, but then it was lights out for me, finally.

I normally hate doing something like this before going to sleep because it makes me feel I'm waisting the high, but it was for a good cause and an interesting experiment. A belated thank you to FLskwat for sharing this idea!

VAPOLITICS!
You are all most welcome about that! Happy to hear it works and is user friendly for many of us!

OTG, I'm pretty confident the results (highwise) would have been even more impressive with soy's fat to activate remaining goodies! ;)

Hey OTA I did the exact same thing last night but not due to insomnia just cos i wanted to get messed up...all i can say is wow and thanks again to FLswat my stems are clean and i was flying last night,

I only had a soy banana drink left G, seemed like a bad idea to warm that up, haha

I'll try next time though. They also have a really nice soy-custard at my local health store, I have to come up for a recipe with that stuff too.

edit: glad you enjoyed it too Lefthook. I like vaping to much to give it up, but if I'm honest edibles still give the most complete high I've experienced ever. It's fun to have different options though.

Idiot (no relation to the Savants)
Just wanted to drop a note that I'm still using my M103 Solo with no issues. Of course, battery longevity etc. makes this less portable and this vape is not the stealthiest of them all, but that is old news by now. But, I still use this vape predominantly. And take out the HA when I want to go have fun and polish off a 1/4 in under two hours. :D

I'm definitely glad I bought the Solo. I love that one doesn't need to grind at all, the temp control is great (I start hitting at 3, all the way up to 7 usually, though there are many times when I only heat it to 6 or even 5 sometimes). I also think this extracts well, not as well as the HA does, but close enough. It is not the most efficient vape, in my experience, not because of poor extraction of course - which is not an issue with this vape, but because the bowl size lends to packing more (than, say, a log vape).

I am glad some of you others are enjoying this vape as well. I think this is a great vaporizer for someone new to vaping - no learning curve whatsoever, just break a nug off, pack it, heat it, and inhale.

If Steve from Arizer is following this thread (hey, you never know) -- dude, great vape, but the battery life needs improving, especially if one tends to go through a lot of herb. :peace:

I can give it a try. On vapor density the UD gives the thickest hits I have experienced with any vaporizer. The Solo gives the thickest hits I have experienced for a portable but it is hard to compare it to a home vape like the UD. Bowl size is also hard to compare as the UD has an adjustable bowl size.

For efficiency, the UD will once again top the Solo. I usually do one full cycle with the Solo, whereas 2-3 hits with my UD will leave me nice and medicated(I feel this is due to the thickness of hits from the UD). The Solo will definitely get you where you want to be it will just take a little longer to get there.

For taste, these two units are about equal IMO. Both offer great taste and a very pleasant vaping experience.

Both units are easy to use but in different situations. The UD is a great home vape. Load the stem, connect, and draw. Couldn't be any easier. The Solo is also the same routine but takes a minute or two to preheat. The solo is perfect for on the move, going over to a friend's house, or chilling on the back deck. Not quite stealth enough to be considered a stealth vape though(IMO).

And as far as ABV color, both vapes can produce dark brown evenly cooked ABV. I have 2 stems to use with my UD. One the screen is far from the heater core and I start the bowl with this one. The screen in the other stem is closer to the heating core and is used as my finishing stem. With the solo, just turn the power up to 6-7 to finish the load.

Sorry if this comparison seemed straight to the point. I typed the entire thing from my IPhone :D

I can agree to all of this besides the flavor aspects. Flavor wise my UD blew away all of the solos I've owned or tried. The rest is dead accurate IMO.

Before trying the M106 I would have agreed with you as well Darkrom, and would have given a big edge to the UD. However, after trying the new version the taste is definitely on par with my UD. I don't know what Arizer did to fix the problem that supposedly never existed, but they did IMO.

Hi All,

got my replacement M106 to replace my M105. My M105 after cleaning and baking really doesn't have much smell compared to new. Arizer wanted to see it anyway to that will get sent off to them for analysis.

great fast service from arizer. steve repsonded to my emails even over xmas.

Compared to the 4 previous units I have experience with this seems to be an improvement. my M104 smelled strongly but was cured by cleaning and baking, M105 slighter smell also cured by cleaning and baking and 2 M105's with virtually no odor.

This M106 has no odor. maybe the slightest hint of chemical residue from manufacturing but that disapeared after 2 cycles on 7. This unit has tight stem fit. I like this. At first I thought they were not going to insert at all. I removed the cap and managed to get one in and move it and around a bit and put the cap back on. Now I can insert them just fine. Just needed that first insertion to align and/or stretch whatever. weird but I'll take it. love the snug fit, glad I didn't break a stem.

Also noticed seems they have changed paint (at least on the black units). my M106 was more a satin black where my M105 is a flat black. The newer M106 has a Glossier finish. Dunno if this has anything to do with odor reduction but based on some users success with baking the body parts it certainly may be.

Question: What do you folks use to the clean the bent stems. Q-tips are not long enough. Anyone have a recommendation and a source for a test tube brush for cleaning stems or any other good ideas.

The 4 hole stems get dirty way faster than the 2 hole stems and get way more plant matter in your mouth. screens should be mandatory for these 4 hole stems. I still prefer the bent stem to the straight ones.

They do make long ass Q-tips but you might have to get them at a medical supply or upscale pharmacy. The ones I see actually have a wooded stick so not sure how flexible it is. Also you can take a piece of small gauge rope and twist it or screw it into the stem to clean.

I have several types & sizes of brushes, but a simple pipe cleaner works best with the bend stems ime. I use two twisted together. It's still a bitch to get in all the nooks & crannies though.

ISO shakes work well too, just fill it half, plug up both ends, let it sit for a few minutes & then shake vigorously for a minute or two. You can add rock salt if it has hard to remove stains.

The hot beverage method also works well btw.

I can't recommend anyone else trying this as it could result in a fire, but I've done this many times with no problems.

I cut a water bottle in half and fill it with about 4 ounces of 91 iso, place it in the microwave on high for about 15 seconds, then fill the stem with the hot iso, plug each end with a finger, and shake shake shake.
The entire stem including the bowl area is usually clean after 2 minutes of shaking.
I haven't tried reclaiming this, but I guess you could.

Kaptan,
Hey all just got my Solo a few days ago, working great but in this thread have there been any discussions about using it with hash? I've had mixed results but was wondering if anyone had any tips as all I have is a bunch of hash at the moment 0_0:peace:.
I tried cutting a small screen in the whip (both of mine have 4 holes, 1 straight and one milkshake) but the hash seemed to just melt and stick into the screen instead of giving vapor clouds.

I feel I must apologize to those who read my post and cleaned their bowl block and found the Solo still smelled. I was wrong about the air path being restricted to that block. The hole for the wires bringing power to the bowl is big enough to allow air to pass through. The block is not the culprit. In my case the smell WAS coming from the circuit board just below the bowl. The power wires for the bowl (4) on the board where the soldiering is WAS a large patch of flux. To see it properly you may need to angle it in the light just right. Six double sided cotton swabs dripped in alcohol latter and the smell IS GONE! Baking would never remove it, but it might lessen it as it did for some. It may also be possible to fix this by blocking the access hole for wires.

make a hash sandwich with herb as the bread on both sides. works like a champ....

ru_frothi,
I let my solid concentrate just party down in actual contact with the bottom of the Solo's bowl. I've yet to cause an air blockage and the stuff is clearly depleted by the time the vapor stops. I used to be more fussy, but I figure Arizer customer care will take care of me if I somehow miraculously fubar my Solo. For concentrates I use the 4-7 settings.

It does say this in their warranty policy:

do your best to clean up your unit INSIDE AND OUT. We have a Zero Tolerance policy for dirty units coming in, so clean your unit well.

Thanks, I kind of just figured this out just now as well hehe. I noticed when the hash fell down there, there would be more vapor clouds.

I would imagine a package of pipe cleaners might work. Of course, I don't have mine yet so I could be totally wrong.

I use a vacuum sealer bag (heavier/sturdier than ziploc types) and pour a bunch of iso into it. Roll it up clip it closed and let the stems slosh around for awhile and then rinse them clear with soapy water. Occasionally pour the iso out into a glass tray and let it evaporate leaving a tasty treat.

Cleaning Stems:
I like to have a small air-tight jar of Ever-clear (190 proof) and I simply submerge my stems and they come out clean in 12 hours. The Ever-Clear is turning a beautiful amber color with each cleaning (try and keep leaf material out for the clearest color). The only real question is how long can I hold off before drinking........

It's here, it's here! Slight new electronic smell, I'm letting it go @7 right now to burn it off. Can't use it until tonight though as I have to drive to class soon and I don't drive high, it's just not safe for me. *sigh*

I got a M105, does have a SS heater from what I can tell. I don't think it's the newest though, despite what the listing on Amazon said, isn't the M106 the newest?
