I haven't read the whole thread, but is it me or is it best to fill the chamber just about half full (with no screens added)? I almost seem to get more vapor out of a half load than a full load, with makes sense as there is better airflow and it allows me to mix the herb inside simply be shaking the solo, whereas a full load can't move at all when shaken.

I've had my Solo for a few months already and realizing I likely wasted a lot of herb on full loads.

If I'm medicating solo (pun intended) I will often pack 1/2 a bowl. I can't say a find 1/2 hits better than a whole. I can certainly say packing it too tight seems to adversely effect the result so I am careful not to pack it. generally I just kind of scoop it in and not pack it at all. I've tried as little as maybe a 1/4 to a 1/3 with good results. never thought of the shaking trick.

Sorry rufrothy I thought you were one of the anti solo brigade?

Just got my solo (M106) and after three burn-in cycles, there's no smell at all.

Very nice hits, great battery charge, easy operation, great usage of the flowers.

I'm a very happy camper except I'm going to try and get a screen in the glass to avoid getting the small particles in my mouth.

Where are people getting their M106s? I called Vapeworld and they said they only had M105s.

Puffitup.com has the new SS 106's

I got mine on eBay with the Vapecase bundle.

From Evapor ? Did you have to contact them about the M106 or is that what they are shipping out ? Whats your impression of the Vapecase so far ?

Yeah, that was the seller. Didn't contact anyone, just hit Buy it Now and rolled the dice. The Vapecase is nice but not worth the retail price IMO. At the bundle price, it's definitely worth it. It would have been nice if they cut an extra spot for flowers but everyone has a different container and it's easy enough to cut a spot myself.

Got the Solo (SS M105) on eBay w/the VapeCase from eVapor for $179.99 about 3 weeks ago.

My ~ So far so good. Fat rips of vapor, nice clouds, pretty efficient (conservation of "green" wise) and a excellent way to medicate. The portability is a bonus.

Never had any of the smell or noise or bad-fitting stem issues, I just wish the battery lasted longer .

Use it with a perc waterPipe as well...nice!

Just curious. What temp do you vape at, how fine do you grind the herb, do you use a screen if so what kind domed or flat, how do you hit the Solo, how much do you fill the bowl, and how long does your bowl last you?

~ Well usually it's set at 6 but I insert the bowl/stem when it's at 4/5 and start hitting it 10 -15 seconds after it hits 6

how fine do you grind the herb,
~ Medium, I use a Sharpstone 2.5" and/or my 3.5" 4pc grinder

do you use a screen if so what kind domed or flat,
~ No screen at all

how do you hit the Solo,
~ w/smooth medium length (3.5 - 5sec) hits one right after the other

how much do you fill the bowl,
~ full loosely packed

and how long does your bowl last you?
~ i usually get through 2 full, loose packed bowls in a 12min sesh

I'm enjoying the Solo and on many days only sesh with it exclusively...6- 8 12 min seshs give or take (more give, than take - say 8 or more )

It is very unlikely IMO that they will address this issue in any way that will benefit the consumer. Thats just my based on them not really being active other than some standard copy paste emails, unless things have changed lately.

So you spent about $200 on a vape and just threw it in the garbage when you could have sold it to recoup your loss? I will consider your posts on the solo without merit as your logic doesn't add up at all.

I've had vapes that I thought were unsafe. I wouldn't want to sell them to someone else who doesn't fully understand the risk. I imagine it would be hard to say "oh yeah its potentially hazardous to your health, so you should really buy it!" I've junked vapes myself as well. Vapir 5.0 comes to mind. Some people just simply can't live with themselves knowing that they sold a dangerous product.

There u can clearly see the plastic airpath i am talking about. There is also a ceramic disc under the heating element in that plastick "bowl". The heating element is attached under the ss bowl with a ceramic insulator between heater and ss bowl. But since the temperature sencor is connected to the ss bowl this means that the bowl itself reaches 200C at 7. And like i found out the plastick holding the ss bowl cant handle that high temperature.

And yes i also threw my V 5.0 in the garbage I wil never sell or give away a product i dont feel is safe to use.

Do you have any way of verifying exactly what the temperature in your oven was when the plastic started melting?

I basically did the same thing through that company that sounds like flanazon. At that price I was like, either it's going to be a really good year, or its going to start off like shit. Roll the dice, and ya get whatever they give you. Thankfully, at the time when I made the purchase. I guess Arizer did a recall with the seller I was dealing with. And from what the lady on the phone told me. Arizer was contacting those they sold bad shipments to, that there would be a two week delay. I wanted my solo by new years eve soI canceled the order, and contacted another seller and made a purchase from them, at a price of two dollars less, but more on the shipping.... But, it was just like twenty bucks more, so I was OK with it. At that price, I can get two.... I didn't, but if I had the money I would.... But seriously, um I think the big solo scare is over... If your wanting to make a purchase, I would feel safe in doing so.... I will say this much, I'm not going to comment on it's construction... What I am going to do is tell ya what the solo does for me.... The solo has restored a great deal of functionality to my life... Prior to owning the solo I was at the mercy of those around me. And if I wanted to medicate, it was on their terms, or not at all.... This is an issue I've been struggling with for 15-16 years now.... Ever since I rolled up to my computer, and did the research on medical marijuana.... I've had this issue, this very same issue has driven me and my family apart for years upon years.... My mother doesn't even hardly speak to me, because for the last fifteen years I've spent the majority of my time asking people, to help me medicate.... Now, its as simple as whip it out, press the buttons... Set it on 5, wait for it, and bam.... I hit it few times, put it back, and go on about my business..... Ain't got to bother nobody, nobody has to put feel put out, or uncomfortable...

Huh? I have 2 solos. both of em smelled new. one is going back to arizer next week. I use my solo daily.

No, i did not measure the actual temperature inside the oven. I just turned the dial too 200C max on my oven is 250C. I doubt the oven is more than 20 degrees off anyhow. And i feel like the material used too hold the heating element should not melt before 1000C atleast. Why they did not make it metal instead of plastick i dont understand.

I suspect metal would absorb to much heat resulting in various other complications, but I'm no engineer either.

A 1000 degrees heat-resistant would be a bit overkill. But mica should be heat resistant to 300 degrees Celsius (from what I could find in a quick search) which should be sufficient since the heating element doesn't go over 220 degrees with normal use. I would prefer a slightly larger margin than that too though.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Interesting thread indeed. Here I am looking at the vaposhop screen with my 10% FC discount wondering if I should get a solo. That plastic fume air path certainly is worrying but someone did say it might be mica which is safe to 500c as far as I know. Also that smell issue is worrying too if indeed it is linked to the melting plastic issue. Looking at the pictures it would be simple to modify the device to remove and insulate the plastic parts from the bowl but I don't see why I should have to do it to something I've only just bought should I choose to buy it.

Perhaps if someone has a digital infrared thermometer they could heat up the unit and take readings to see how hot the outer parts actually get. Apparently PTFA gives off PFOA fumes even as low as 198c.

I sent vaposhop an email too asking if they do the M106 SS version although I wonder if there is a black SS version?
