And you wonder why these threads get so god damn long!

Here's a tip for the newbies (and i know i'm not helping but there are more posts off topic than on topic recently)... Start at the end and go BACKWARDS... that way you start at the most present info/concerns/problems, and some of the older ones may be irrelevant.

Also, anyone know of any confirmed ceramics that are still being sold?
You could try evapor on ebay, they sell the Solo with the hardcase for $180, Email them I would bet they still have ceramics. Got my M104 there so far so good, short battery life though. Here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arizer-Solo...973?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c20a543b5
I posted this about 4x on this thread at the risk of sounding like a shill, I just think it's a good deal with the nice hardcase. :peace:

Thanks dude! What do you mean your M104 has short battery life?? I thought only the SS were a little shorter on battery?

It's shorter than I notice alot of guys on here seem to get out of theirs. Lately seems to be getting worse, fewer sessions per charge even though I try not to run it dry. Am going to contact Arizer to see about new battery cause otherwise I like my unit. :peace:

Great looking case but a bit pricey maybe. Not much room for any additional accessories but very much worth considering. Would not take much effort to custom make your own "foam rubber" insert with pockets or compartments that would fit your own needs while still utilizing hardcase benefit. Others might prefer soft cases.

Case only is $45 @

Can anyone speak to the quality of this case? Just wonder if it is worth the asking price.

Ok then. It appears to have been 'not noice to noobs' when directing them to read the thread in order to find the answer to the most basic of questions tha have been answered adnauseum.
& vaporpedia seems to be too far to travel as well.
VAPORPEDIA LINK AT THE TOP OF EVERY PAGE

As one of my esteemed collegues mentioned very recently, start reading the thread from the last page towards the front. Should cut your reading time by heaps. Most basic questions are answered every 30 pages or so.

Too lazy to do that either?

Fine, I have made the investment in this thread & vape, allow me.

some stems are tight, some stems are loose, some prefer them tight, others prefer them loose.
its the luck of the draw, its blown glass, theres bound to be some slight differences.
no big deal

some solos had some ceramic chipping in the bowl. no big deal for some, but others returned theirs for a warranty replacement (in some instances arizer let the customer keep the chipped one & just sent the replacement)

some solos had an electronics smell that for some did burn off over time, for others it just got stronger.
A member found that you could bake the lid(screw on top) of your solo in the oven & it helped. Another member, managed to take his unit apart and also bake the outer case & wipe the rest of the unit with ISO
seemed to help alot. i think some members have returned their smelly solos for a warranty replacement.
(there are some detailed pictures & tutorials in the thread somewhere, you gonna have to look for that)

some members have noticed a high pitched sound coming from their solo, and they find it quite annoying. It appears to be the acute hearing of the user rather than the unit. (someone please correct me if I am wrong). therefore not much can be done about it.

there have been one or 2 units that have failed totally. (Mine was one of them)

To the best of my information arizer has stepped up & provided awesome customer service by replacing faulty units quickly & without fuss.

arizer sometimes take a day or 2 to answer their emails, but overall they appear to be great.

service@arizer.com

Now on to the performance, etc.

there are many different stems out there 2, 4 holes. straight, bent etc.
some fit tight, some rock loosly, its all normal & its up to you to find what you like.

its reccomended to fit a screen to your solo, some members found if you used a domed screen upside down in the stem that it improved the performance of the solo, others did not find any real difference.
A flat screen can be shaped to a dome on the back of a wooden spoon or similar

if you are using your solo with a waterpipe a small piece of silicon tube on the end helps marry to a 14mm GonG nicely & will also marry to a glass bowl as well. (well it does for me)

Using a waterpipe is helpful for those that cough to excess from the dry hot vapor.

Soaking your dirty stems in ISO helpes loosen the gunge off & then you just pour the ISO into a pyrex dish & let evaporate in order to reclaim sticky hash goodness. Then i just place my finger over a running tap to make a fine stream of water (like a waterpick) & spray that jet of water in the stem and the left over gunge just runs away.

In regards to the battery it is generally accpeted that it is best to charge the battery often & regularly. some users place it on charger when it is not in use. the charger will not let you use the solo while charging, however there is an accessory a/c adapter that will let you use the solo when there is insufficient charge that many good solo retailers sell.

Some members have bought old ps2 power supplies to use as an a/c charger.(with some modifications) but there were some issues regarding heat I believe & the jury is out on whether its wise to use these adapters.
(personally, I would just buy the official adapter to protect my solo)

There has been the odd issue with some stems not fitting in the solo when they go use it for the 1st time.
If you unscrew the top black metal cap you will see a grey heat resistant spacer ring, it appears there is a slight manufacturing defect with this plastic. get a sharp knife and gently scrape the grey plastic, shaving a tiny bit of the ring all the way round. Try to insert your stem, if it doesnt fit, shave a little more, then test it again. keep going till you have the correct fit. Its easy & quick to do, just keep testing it as you go to make sure you dont shave too much off. (then your stems will be too loose & fall out)

there is an excellent tear down tutorial by vaplexus on page93 post #2310 complete with detailed pics of what is inside the solo & a couple of optional mods if you need them.click here

there is a great vid (made by me) of the solo producing huge clouds using a domed screen on page 67 post 1655click here

vape4life wanted to add that he feels-'' the Solo works great as a daily driver and can replace a home vape especially with the a/c adapter. It hits harder than the MFLB, and is pretty stealthy, but not AS stealthy as the launch box.''

If there is anything else I should add guys let me know and I will edit. but thats the condensed version of the solo & I will add to it as i think of stuff.

if anyone wishes for more detailed info or tutorials with pics etc...............

+1 It's just a reflection of the kids these days.... such a feeling of entitlement. I don't understand, if I was considering a vape i'd want to know EVERYTHING about it and gather as much research as possible and read every single fucking word of the thread. Meh, some people are just fucking lazy.

Maybe to add to the above that the Solo works great as a daily driver and can replace a home vape especially with the a/c adapter. It hits harder than the MFLB, and is pretty stealthy, but not AS stealthy as the launch box.

OK newbies, I think that sums it up.

Agreed , this is now my daily machine , Ive already had multi unit sessions with friends where the Solo has kicked ass against an EQ and a HA . I love this unit . :D

:/
A comment on reading and acquiring information in general . There are so many forums around that anyone can say anything they want . Don't be a dumb ass and take the first piece of information you receive as gospel truth. (Im not refering to any posts on FC) . Take more than 2 minutes and put an effort into it . This is the information age and there is plenty of it , good and bad . For your own well being , take the time to research and compare opinions . READ , and when you get tired of that read some more . Take in as much variable information as you can and then judge for yourself . it will benefit you , I guarantee it .

I was originally going to buy the softcase from Rockwise for $25 when i was shopping for my Solo. I ran across the Solo above with the hardcase for $170 back then. I figured I couldn't lose considering it was about the cheapest I could get a Solo for without the case, I was not too sure I would like the hardcase at all but had nothing to lose.
I have since grown to like the case, good for storing at home, and when taking around town I preload acouple stems with caps & the charger area works great for 3 containers, 2 herb, 1 ABV. I only carry the charger if going out of town. Great case as far as waterproof, smellproof, And it seems pretty tuff. Takes alittle gettting used to opening & closing as it seals tight. I will say I feel the Solo & components are very well protected in this case. Not sure if is the case with a soft one.
As for is it worth $45. Good question, It was worth it with the Solo. Stand alone I don't know, I don't have the softcase to compare it to. All I can say is in my opinion it is a well made nice case. Hope this helps. :2c:

While yer breakin down you can tend to your Cliff's Notes version of the Solo. Hope it does not grow to point where you get a mod ticket.

What we should do is synchronize out watches and all draw and exhale on our Solos at the exact moment in support of Dorkus and his quest to lower his thc tolerance so he can get higher in 2012.

@Dorkus very nice post. I did notice that you said the high pitch ringing noise that emits during charging. I don't know what others have said but I posted earlier about the noise and it only turns on during heating. Just clarifying. Not trying to be annoying or Mr. Correct

@ damien420 -no probs, all of what is posted above is from memory. As the sound doesnt have any effect on me, I must confess to not really following the sound issue when it arises.

But I think there was some mention when the problem 1st was noticed (way back somewhere)that someone said it was the cycling of the charging. IDK, as I said i cant hear it. Can anyone else chime in & verify?

Either way, its a sound that gives some peeps the shits whenever it kicks in. (heating or charging)

post- 3609 edited appropriately,(I think)

ya Arizer said that it was normal and it's caused by the switching of circuits to heat up. Ya if Im paying attention to it, I can hear it, or if Im sober, once Im blazed I don't even notice anymore haha Plus it's faint enough to where I only hear it once I bring it up to take a hit. and my sessions are at most 12 min so it's not like I have to listen to it forever.

Almost all of that information was already in the Vaporpedia entry, but thanks to that dorkus_molorkus post, I have organized it a little better and added a couple of details that were missing. Rather than appealing for someone to "copy that shit to vaporpedia" why don't you ask for an account and do it yourself?

I was happy to see that Rufrothy has expressed his intent to work on the Solo entry. His work on the Omicron article is excellent. That doesn't mean that you and others shouldn't bother.

The heater is the cause of the frequency sound, meaning it is only present while the unit is heating up.
Also my ears seem to be getting accustomed to the frequency because the more I use mine the less obtrusive the sound is.

I don't understand the point made in vaporpedia that says the battery will last longer if charged frequently and not discharged completely. Cell phones use the same type of battery Li Ion and they last longer if charged when comletely dead which results in less charges. Someone fill me in on the details especially if Im wrong. Thanks

I'm just 15 days ahead of your T-break. It's not that bad after the first week, and it's the BEST thing i've ever done for my health, although I was a 2g+/day vaper for years and the longest i've gone without was 5 weeks and that was only once 18 months ago. Definitely worth it dude!

I agree - still, make sure you're safe with all of your medicines. It's best not to make a ton of changes at once. If you're doing a t-break, make sure you're keeping dosages of all other medicines constant. It's best to vary as few variables as possible so you can see how the t-break works on your body.

@vape4life- I hear you dude. its just the initial week or so, I just tend make an ass of myself at home for a bit till i settle down. my family hate it & I have been a wee bit of a glutton as of late.

I had half a bow on or around 25th oct, now it & all the associated byproducts have been consumed by me!
Barely lasted 8 weeks, OMG what a piggy!
It was a top notch sativa, the kind that you could just blaze away all day nonstop & be this happy, nicely buzzed, toasted as- so, I did just that. LOL

dear o dear, a tbreak was inevitable at that rate. One day, I will be in a position where it wont matter &
how much one vapes is measured in happiness as opposed to grams.

yeah right & my missus will turn into Miranda Kerr. FFS

this is going to be fucked, no 2 ways about it.
But like that gangrenous limb that must be hacked off, its for my own good.

@dorkus, after the 3rd day you are gold. well maybe not gold, but its those first three days that are always the worst. but perhaps you already know this, as many a random pothead has had this discussion with me, and 3days seems to be the defacto standard for getting over the green grumps.
i find the best way to get through the day is with my video games. though without my pot, i cant focus worth shit, and my reaction speed is drastically reduced, however nothing keeps my mind of the pure shittyness of life like a good challenging game(put that shit on the hardest difficulty or else!!!)

i also want to add that my potpourri modified stem bowl is gooing up nicely. i will be getting frickin fried soon enough when i get the ambition to scrape it out for ingestion

So I went and picked up my solo at the post office today akd here r my first impression of the unit.
Mine is a model 105. It came with one straight stem and one bendt.
The unit looks and feel very sturdy and i like the design it is a sweet lookin thing this.

Right out of the box the unit was smelling nasty. I charged it up and turned on the heat.
And it started to smell stronger. It smells like plastick.
After one full sycle on 7 and it auto shut off, i turned the unit on again and tied to take a pull with the stem with no herbs.
I can taste the hot plastic wery god and it taste like shitt.
The draw on this thing is insanly restricted. I dont like the way u got to hit this thing.

I wil charge battery full again and run the unit on 7 for couple cyckles and se if the smell goes away.
I dont think it will since i could smell it when the unit was cold right out of the box.
