Arizer Solo

I'm thinking if we fing the right outside diameter on the tube coming off the gg then no need for welding or anything, but that itself could be a custom piece idk enough about the stuff, yet.

Vape4health, I am looking at 15mm Simax thick wall boro tube and was going to try cutting one down to size then see if I can slip a SS screen in held in place by friction just to see if it works as a cheap Solo stem. I measure the bowl end of the Solo stem at about 15mm. Here is a link to a supplier in Oregon. http://www.glasscraftinc.com/home/gla/page_5388_532/15x2.5x1500mm_simax_heavy_wall_tubing.html
Glasscraft has all sorts of various size and thickness boro tubes. Maybe you can find something that fits what you need.

I think it would be much easier to use Arizer's bowl. Hell, they're the ones that custom make them in the first place and you can just chop one of their pre-made stems and marry it to a GonG male joint. It doesn't seem like rocket science to me, but I'm just a layman.

Stu, you're probably right, cutting down a Solo stem would be the easiest solution. They are already the correct size and only cost about $8 to $10 each + shipping. The boro tubes I am looking at are 1500mm long (4'11") costing $4.33 each with a minimum order of $25. The minimum order alone would probably buy you a lifetime supply of stems. Glasscraft will cut them to length and flame finish the cut end for a small additional cost if you choose. I don't know, I've just been kicking the idea around. I wish I had taken that glassblowing class when I was in college. It would have been very useful just about now.

It just seems like reinventing the wheel to buy tubes. They sell the GonG joints that can easily be welded to a cutoff solo stem. So I guess I just don't see the need for buying tubes when all you really want is to connect the GonG piece to a hacked Solo stem.

:peace:

What's goin' on guys, new member here. I am currently a new-ish owner of an Arizer V-Tower vaporizer and loving it so far! Actually pulling some hits as I write this but I digress. My buddy picked up one of these Arizer Solo vapes and it's one of my favorite, if not currently, my favorite vaporizer. Handy and portable like none other, minimal heatup time, and best of all, it blasts you with some nice, milky tokes. Love this thing and I wish I could have learned about this bad boy before I bought the V-Tower but oh well, I still love my vape! Cheers!

Honestly dude don't feel too bad I have a Solo and an Extreme Q, and they are different beasts. The Solo is great but you really have to keep your eyes on it sometimes, whereas with the Q its easy to just sit back and toke. Enjoy your V-Tower, the grass isn't always greener :)

I wish more Solo-noobs took the time to read it.

I started following the thread around page 80 , it took me a couple of days to read it from the beginning to page 80 , we are up to page 132 now and thats a lot of reading , and lets face it there is a bunch of crap as well as good information in this thread , you can easily get frustrated after 10 pages.

An option around here could be an FAQ section for each of the vaporizer with over 100 active pages rather than searching for an answer . the seach option is very limited on this site . But the again my top answer for the last 10 years has been if you dont know something - Google it !

Its called vaporpedia wiki. There are links in my sig. I've gotten most of the omicron entry done and then its time to work on the solo entry.

EDIT: Sorry for the late reply. Glad your enjoying your unit. I am.

Just got a friend a stainless 105 as a xmas present and 0 smell or other issues with it. My M104 smell awful at first. Anyone reported stinky 105's?

I'm heating up my new SS Solo for the first time as I type. It has just reached 7 and it's giving off a horrible chemical smell, hopes that wears of soon otherwise I won't even try it. It's an M105 btw.

Cuddo's to Arizer for shipping it this fast though. If I'd been home to accept the package I'd already had it by last Friday, which is just a week after they shipped it. Not bad, all the way from Canada to Holland in just a week including our customs holding it for a day or two as well.

They've made some chances to the stem as well as to the unit I noticed. Not only the bowl part is thicker than the rest of the stem but the part above it as well, for about a cm or so. The rest of the stem is slightly thinner, to thin to match a 14,4mm GonG connection unfortunately. Like someone else reported before, it'll just slide through without some tubing. The stems fit much tighter then the old ones & won't spin around anymore because a change in design of the upper ring above the Solo heater chamber.

Heating up the SS for the second time now, this time without the cap on. The cap seems to smell more chemical, especially the inside. It can only be the paint. The smell that comes from the bowl now is still clearly there but less intrusive & it's definitely the same smell that comes from soldering. And I mean the smell you get of the melting solder itself, not the one that comes from a hot iron. This one also makes the high pitch noise btw, but it's not very loud and hardly noticeable unless you're in a quiet room.

Never had any of this crap with my ceramic M102, I wonder what they have done to it & why they won't admit there comes a smell (if not several) off at least some of the units.

I must be almost at the end of the second cycle on 7 now, the smell doesn't become any less. I'll empty the first battery load this way, but if that doesn't change anything this one won't see any use ever.

One could take a guess why they don't want to admit there is a smell issue with an undetermined number of these. My guess would be they do not have a solution to the problem since it would likely require a more serious re-design than their previous new bowl solution.

I've emailed them extensively about my findings & experiences, I know they will reply but hope they'll reply to ALL the issues mentioned in my email. I'm not after another replacement since I don't believe that would solve anything, but I do think they have a great product here if they get these issues solved & I just want them to take care of it.

I have been hesitant for a while now, but as of now I will no longer recommend this product at all until these issues are fixed. The SS Solo goes back in the box unused, it's been stinking up my living room for the entire afternoon and I'm just done with it.

OhTheAgony,
Alright guys and gals my new replacement replacement SS came lol and I gotta say I love the SS way better than the ceramic now, but I think i'm going to go back to my 2 hole stems. Which I will be sending an email to Arizer to make me a straight one. The thing hits the same(now that the temp is correct) as the ceramic. I used to run my ceramic at 4-6 now I run the SS at 5-7 and just don't suck as hard, which saves you in many ways lol. I really wish they would have cranked the heat up some though rather than lowering it. Because I like to get my hits fast(by sucking hard you are lowering the heat and you can get your big clouds in 2 seconds rather than 10 :) Like how I do it with my Da Buddha. But overall I think the SS is going to be my new portable. Oh and no smell at all when I got it. I ran 2 cycles at 7 and started her up.

Oh crap, and then you get a post like that ^^ lmao

Did you have the smell-issue with your other SS unit, VapeNStone?

OhTheAgony,

ilovebOObs

can i stick my male joint in there?
my silver 105 ss replacement that i got recently had no smell issues at all, i did 1 burn it cycle and that was it. but my black 104 ceramic still smells to this day. i don't mind the smell but it does have an electronic smell, even after iso bath.

Stu I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel just trying to get me a gg solo, I'm not saying use any tubing, find a gg with the right diameter stub (the part you would be welding) to fit the solo heater, no cutting no welding.

@OTA thats exactly what I got, a stinky 105 to replace a chipping 103. If you disassemble it to bake and/or wipe it down let us know if that cures the smell. Mine has just a tiny sent now but to me it's usable.

I'm not gonna bake it or clean it Vape4health. If Arizer wants it back to inspect it they can have it if they pay for the returning shipping costs. But I've heard that the shop where I bought my original Solo from will soon get the SS models as well, so perhaps I'll try to trade it for another SS one in a few weeks.

Otherwise I'll just keep it for spare parts for my ceramic one, or sell them both together if I'm done Soloing all together.

If you end up keeping it than please give an ISO wipe a try, it's a very simple process. If you don't want to take out 4 screws to do the interior of the entire shell than you should at least wipe the cap, since you said it was clearly giving off a smell. A simple ISO wipe (even all purpose cleaner has been shown to work just as well) with paper towel should wipe off visible residue which seems to be causing the smell/taste.

Simple fix, right? At least worth a try on the cap.

It's not that it's to much work, I just feel I shouldn't have to. And mine still has an awful smell with the cap off, a solder smell that differs from the paint smell, so just cleaning the cap wouldn't do it.

Arizer did offer me another replacement for my replacement, I'm considering it but I'm not in a lot of hurry. I don't use the Solo much anymore anyways.

When I wiped mine I only really got residue from the inside of the cap, and thats where it seemed like most of the smell was coming from. I would go as far to say that if others are similar to mine, you only have to wipe the cap, and then the smell will deminish to nothing a few burnouts/stems after that.

Fair enough, but do you clean a new grinder when you get it or leave the manufacturing residue on that too because it isn't your job to clean it?

In regards to still having a smell with the cap off, since the bottom of the shell and the cap seem to have both come from a single piece it is a safe assumption that residue can be on the bottom 3/4ths of the shell just as easily as the top 1/4th (cap) and can also be cleaned off the exact same way.

Those that have gotten residue from ISO wiping the cap and still have taste/smell issues seem to have the issue solved completely by wiping the interior of the bottom of their shell as well as the cap.

So if you decide to keep your smelly unit instead of sending it in for replacement you should definitely consider taking 10 minutes out of your day to fix the issue yourself.

Man, you're dense. Read my posts please, next time you get the urge to respond to them.

Do you seriously want to compare a 15 euro grinder against a 200 euro piece of electronic equipment? Have fun dude.
