3 or 4 years?!

If i were a manufacturer i'd be worried thinking about what the competition can come up with during such a long time! And the Chineese aren't kicking too hard so far... I'd want my Plan-B to be ready right away and not wait for stoner input, praying that no major adversary succeeds shorting their warm-up delay tenfold by going halogen, possibly making their product more convenient than mine, for example!

there are already a couple of battery li-ion vapes hitting the market. There is the Mi or Vi vape, one of them is a portable simialr looking to the solo.
then I came across one called the minvap that really looks like the solo. (checkout youtube) big bucks tho.

so, arizer will need to step up if they wanna keep in the game.
For us consumers, I think we are entering a golden age of battery portables. Just think of what will be available in 2 years time.

If someone wants to win the alltime brand recognition like volcano has, they better start listening to us stoners & putting in the features we want.

Now, the 2 other battery jobs I mentioned above in no way makes me think they have done a better or even a comparable job to the solo. (who knows till some peeps pull the trigger & get some reviews up)
But the fact they are here already, makes me happy there is a bright future to come as the tech is continued to be developed.

Now all we need is a hybrid between the solo & the cloud, and vaping nirvana will have been found.

If they could make a portable Da buddha that works the same as the home unit I would be sold in a heartbeat. I think I just need more heat and more flow.

Ok so perhaps I missed the mark on a whole new design (3-4) years. I agree that may be out a bit far.

Do we scrap the entire post and just banter it back and forth for another 64 pages? I can do that too. Part of my point was to try to get inside the head of Arizer to learn a bit about their future position. I realize that the true nature of what the future holds for them is well guarded but we won't know to what extent until a communication is developed.

I put a Buddha in a 13 can cooler with a small motorcycle/tractor battery and 20 dollar inverter and it works perfect, I even added a 12v male plug so I can charge it from any running vehicle.

Free shipping too. Really makes you wonder about the markup when a $300 vape becomes available for less than half the price after such a short time. It may be that some sellers are clearing out their inventory cheap, since a stainlesss steel modification is in the works.

I just cleaned the "inside heating area" (where you insert the glass tube) with one of those alcohol swabs (those small pieces of fabric soaked in 70% iso wrapped in individual pouches, I always have a box for cleaning things) and let the iso boil out by turning it on. when it was all dry I used it and immediately exhaled the bitter & toxic gases, needless to say the chemical they add to iso to make it so bitter no one would ever drink it does not boil off like the alcohol does.

So don't try to clean the inside with iso, it's well worth using a consumable alcohol like vodka or rum to clean this part since you can't rinse it out with water like the glass part to remove the bitterant.

The Minivap is e594.00. Yes it is priced steep. That's $817 USD and $999 on e-bay. +1 on the li Ion-external battery. Spec sheet puts it right about same size overall as Solo but when you factor the battery attached it is another 2 inches added. LED readout too. Screens, flex stem everything you guys have been asking for except all glass stream. Also I wonder how long it has been on market? I believe it is made in Spain.

yeh, somewhere I saw a price of $594 euros as well. Holy shit batman, it would want to come with a free oz of hash for that price or some sort of vaccuum device that will accept my penis.

$146 on amazon for the solo! now thats a bargain flaking or no flaking.

That's $817.00 USD for those across the pond. This thing would have to double as a vibrator before I could get one of these in the house @ that price. I'm going to set and watch on this one. Damn near need an extended warranty for that price. By the way I have not seen any warranty info yet.

And dorkus this one comes with a docking station so no need to dip into the firewood pile to make one.

I think it might be more to do with them being 70% iso. Using straight iso to clean it then letting it dry should be fine, it will dry leaving no residue or bad tastes.

OMG-$894USD!

In defence of my firewood pile, I am able to update and customise as required. When my warranty solo arrived
I sent my custom made solo docking station back to the manufacturer (my back shed)

Well the mastercraftsmen down there (me), managed to place another solo docking recepticle (a hole) in the dock, in order to have the 2 solos upright and safe at all times while one of them is being charged.

They have drawn up blueprints (on a napkin) of having both solos charging at once, but thats one day in the future when technology will allow them to do that. (meaning when I can be bothered, if at all)

and not only that, my solo dock also doubles as a weapon. (it would hurt if I threw it at you)

so pls dont underestimate my woodpile, and its only $300 euros!! lol

I'm sorry but only 4 temperature choices between 300 and 445 makes this simply ridiculous, 36 degree steps? Are they serious on a device of this price? Even 10 degree steps make a significant difference, I can't miss the difference between my solo at 4 and at 5 which is less than 10 degrees F difference.

They completely ruined their product with such huge temperature steps, especially at that price point, it should have 1 degree accuracy, not 36 degree "accuracy".

Only can charge one at a time? WTF Your leaving the door open for me to step in and build a 2 hole (like some of the more plush US outdoor shiters of yesteryear) and take it one step further with Underdog's choice of woods. That would make me a dirty :dog:

I have approached a glass blower I have done business with before to see if he would interested in making a custom bat with a recessed area in the bowl to hold a screen. What would the best place for the recess? How would I describe how much restriction the draw should have? What other modifications would be handy to have (have not received mine yet)?

The best place would be the bottom of the bowl, but I really don't see the need to spend money on this tbh. If you cut the screen just slightly to large and press it in it will stay in place, no need for anything to hold it there. I tried this with 3 different stems now (all needed slightly different sizes screens) and it works perfectly, they even stay in place when I scrape the screen with a poker to clean them.

Describing the restriction is not gonna work I'm afraid. It could be measured, but who has equipment to do so? Easiest way would be to let your blower copy the size of the two air holes in the glass stem.

Vaped Ape: although I do like your idea I have to wonder if it would be our place to do that. Perhaps it's a good idea to contact Arizer first to see if they are open to suggestions and if they would appreciate some input on future wishes on a possible successor from a few hardcore fans, otherwise it may just be a waste of time and energy.

I think it would be a great idea to develop a new prototype bat. We have talked about how much better the bat currently performs with a slightly elevated screen in the bat. We have talked at length about washers and the like under the screen to keep it elevated off the holes in the bottom of the bat. This also helps keep the holes themselves from clogging with particulates the sift through the screen and collect. Yes copy the diameter of the existing holes. Keep the net volume of the bat the same and a second prototype with a bowl with a slightly larger volume. I don't see where there is allot of cost here to give this a try. "Nothing beats a failure but a try". I feel confident that there is room to improve the current bat. Perhaps three holes with same total flow of the 2 hole design would be something to try.

But to answer your question Lostclusters about where to position the screen, I would say a starting point would be .125 above the holes. Guys that are smoking kief and hash may have some other whats/needs in this area as well. If you guys are wanting a different bend or length now is the time to chime in.

It's not about the screen falling out necessarily but rather to keep the screen from bottoming after repeated loading causing the clogging factor and loss of draw.

Easiest way would be to let your blower copy the size of the two air holes in the glass stem.

Wouldn't the best thing to do is make the exact stem but with no holes? I mean nothing in that spot? Then make a recess so you can fit a screen in easier and make it stay easier. Then I think you would have great flow and IMHO that is the only downfall with this device.

Powered up my unit and i started to waft the hot air towards my nose, and i could defiantly smell the distinct smell other posters mentioned. So i placed it on 7 and i'm letting it burn in.

Side Note-

Also plan on sending my 2nd glass stem to my blower to see if he can create something with better flow(less restriction) and something with a Glass on Glass joint on the end.If everything goes well, I'll help all those who are interested in getting one also..(stem/gong stem)

this morning by Solo died.... i used it last night at around 8pm from an almost full charge, and set it on my side table.

this morning i went to turn it on and it makes the long beep when you turn it on, but then immediately makes the shutoff beep and all lights go off. plugging it in puts the unit into a loop of trying to turn on and then turning off and then trying to turn on again, and turn off etc etc... beep beep beep beep until you unplug it.

im going to go back to the store where i got it, i still have the reciept and it says on it "2 years warranty", so we'll see what that means

incase anyone cares, my solo got daily use from June 3rd all the way up until last night... the batter overall only degraded 30% total from when i orignally got it, and i dont think whats wrong with mine is the battery since i can get it to light up and make noise

honestly, i thought dropping it or leaving it on for too long was eventually going to kill it, but it just died peacfully after a session one night whilst sitting on my table.

hopefully someone from Arizer reads this and can give me some advice....

If he does ask for the latest with a stainless heat chamber. Also make sure you tell him you medicate with it and ask him to expadite.
