Arizer Solo

@GoGlass, I stated in my review using 1 stem for green material and 1 stem for concentrates, khief and hashes...each of those 3 is a treat with the solo (on settings 4 to 7 IMO).

GoGlass, I don't think many of us have kief available in large quantities. I'm trying to save up mine since I read your post but it'll probably take me at least a week to collect enough to fill a small bowl. I know some shops here that sometimes sell kief though, I'll ask around next time I need to replenish my stash.

Does kief contain any of the cannabinoids that are released at higher temps btw? Cause that's mainly where I get my groove from


Egzoset: I thought that was your motivation for wanting that extra port, but it will of course only be useful if Arizer is willing to put those updates online. Since it took them quite a while to get the Solo website online and they're unwilling to participate on this website I'm not sure if they are handy enough internetwise to do so

I share your concerns about that insert affecting the temps of the Solo btw, it's the first thing that came to my mind when I initially learned that they were making such a thing.

I'd definitely wait for a new Solo with a stainless steel bowl if I were you Lefthook.

of course it depends on the algorithm, but i would doubt it. i think the ceramic coating is too thin to provide any insulation effect ... after several minutes the entire heater should be fully heat saturated. according to arizer the ceramic is simply for cosmetic effect.

Yes, but then i'd like to see some figures to compare how long that takes depending on the configuration.

@OhTheAgony : The best way to collect kief is with a simple electric grinder like this one :

It's incredible how much kiek you can get with this kind of grinder.
I think that with this grinder, after 4 or 5 use, i have enough kief for one bowl of my Solo's stem...

@FLskwat : Thanks i remember your review. How do you vape hash, in sandwichs of screens?
Alone or mixed with herb (or ABV)? Do you shred it? Thanks ....

You can vape hash direct in the stem like with herb if you don't have a spare screen to use to put your hash into.
No need to shred it at the beginning, then a little shred and voila !

+1 on the Solo v2.0 power connector moved to the lower backside so it can still stand upward when charging.

@ GoGlass, like le grinder but is there a US distributor site where i can read/order in English?

When I get the chance..I plan on doing an in-depth review on my unit and a couple vids for you guys.

Crossing my fingers and hoping my unit doesn't succumb to issues mentioned by other users.

Since day 1 and first review always said:

for green: from 2 to 5 (sometimes up to 7) and the rest (khief, hash, concentrates ) from 4 to 7...

@ GoGlass: if your hash is good, you wont need to stir the stem (which is a mess of a process BTW)... the hash tiny rock will melt and change its exposure surface alone during the 12 mn.

@Da Ape : this electric grinder is less than 10$, i think you can get one everywhere, no? Just Google it.
To be exact, with this grinder you can collect 'Skuff' (it's the word in my country) and not 'Kief',
because 'Kief' is the most finest particles of your herb.
Skuff is the 'second level' of particles, it can contains some litlle pieces of vegetal, particles are just a a little
coarse. But i think it's the best for the Solo, because it doesnt clog the screen.

@FLskwat : Do you put one screen in the heating chamber ? Do you have to clean the heating chamber after vape hash ?

the Solo keeps dropping on eBay. Multiple sellers are down to $164.99! I am debating pulling the trigger now or waiting for it to drop more.

prices are getting lower on the ceramic coated solos because they all chip!

Yes I have a screen in my stem and one down in the chamber bottom. And if you go "till the end" of your hash there will be only carbone remains, quite dry and a simple brushing when everything is cooler will do the trick 95% of the time. This and the traditional weekly Q-tip + iso care seems to be enough for my unit!

I use my kief all the time but I usually just sprinkle it on top to spice up some bud that wasn't up to my standards lol. But yea this solo kicks ass and it seems to be good with groups.

Something I would like in the 2.0 version is have the auto shut off timer start AFTER your last temp input.

That is a great idea. You could "reset" the clock just by moving up or down (or up and then down). I don't mind the idea of the auto-shutoff for saving battery life, but it would be so much better if it was like an LCD screen on a laptop: it only shuts off after a (user-customizable) period of inactivity.

I'm with you and Stu on this one. It seems like a very good compromise. Active when you want it to be, but still shuts off if you're so blitzed you really don't need it on anymore...

I think we should develop a think tank or committee of about six regulars on this Solo thread to receive ideas for changes to the next gen Solo- v2.0. After polling the members on the most popular changes that meet the committees criteria, funnel the ideas to a realistic, cost conscience list of 3-4 changes that could be accomplished without starting with a new piece of paper. I can just about guarantee that this Solo will be around at least 3-4 years before a totally new model will be considered. Then forward our ideas formally to Steve@Arizer to hopefully present to the engineers that are charged with the upcoming product changes. Hopefully this will open communication and help us learn what the powers to be are thinking. I think the Cloud should be looked at closely and see what direction the competition will be taking as well. I am sure Arizer is already doing some of this but I think the door is open for to get a seat at the table with some of our ideas. We are the hardcore users. I see folks here that have different areas of expertise. I feel strongly that a few on this forum could become party to the beta testers that surely must be lurking somewhere.

I think 1/1/2012 might be reasonable enough time to have something put together to present. It is imperative that we as a group put together a serious presentation which not only includes the concerns of the casual user of the Solo but also the medicinal users, hobbyists, and any aromatherapists that might be lurking here. With no question someone with a considerable understanding of small rechargeable electronics should be on this committee as well as someone with experience with several vaporizers on the market both past and present.

We can't come off half cocked like a bunch of burnt up stoners and be taken seriously.

Any input, ideas or criticisms? I have not been around the forum all that long so certainly there are old timers that know the group better than I and would be more suited to try to put this committee together.
