Arizer Solo

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Then the design is flawed.....

Don't get me wrong, this is a great full vapor device and I'm quite happy with that... but its just the wobbling and spinning of the stem is "chintzy" and annoying as part of the whole process considering the device's good build, which... to me, ends up feeling like its an offsetting disappointment. Hell, even my wife laughs when I end up playing oral chase the mouthpiece while trying to take a relaxed vape unless I hold the device & hold the stem at the same time to take a hit.

Some type of removable and expandable slip ring could have been incorporated to at least "slightly" firm up the fit to avoid this, or even if the stem was done more like a frosted slip fit, since after all..... its intended to be a portable & not a desktop.

Oh well..... I suppose this is where Arizer will shine or dull when it comes to absorbing user feedback's (good and/or bad findings), and either adapt needed/wanted modifications on future production versions or say phooey and do nothing.

On another note.... tonite I tried a very thin pressed QWISO & kief chip sandwich and it worked surprisingly well. No hack like with a Ti or healthstone, and great taste (and effect) from it as I ramped up the heat settings to the upper levels. I'm pleasantly impressed, being a concentrate lover.

PEACE

My bats are both snug and fit perfectly. There does seem to be a little band of some sort around the opening of the device that I believe are holding it pretty snug in place. If this little band was not there I feel it would spin like all the others are complaining about.

Thanks for mentioning that..... I did check to see if mine was missing or something, but I do see the "band" there that your talking about that looks like some kind of ceramic.

When "cold"... I can position the stem (either one of the two I received), in a certain way that its "sturdy", but that's only until it warms up then its loosey lucy.

Really, normal science would tell you that things expand when heating, which would probably work great if it did (or at least maintained its grasp, but I'd swear something is odd that it retracts when heated enough to make it a sloppy fit (new space age funky material ?? lol).

Strange. I don't seem to suffer from this expansion issue. Mine are both pretty snug and I can't see myself dealing with a lose bat like that.

I would charge it fully which is until the green light stops flashing.

So far so good.Only had a couple of hits so far ,not particularly big lumps of vapor but I'm still stoned as a monkey!!!.

Kelblow,
Solo showed up in about 5 days from ordering from Vaporizerforweed.net. I like another user am surprised by the small size of the unit, and a little relieved in a way that it's not larger. It's charging right now and I can't wait to use it. Inhaling through the glass stems does seem quite constricted..

Edit: my initial impressions are good! Battery took about 2 and a half hours to charge. I have to say that I would have preferred the tubes to be better made, thicker, more durable, maybe with higher airflow, and definitely with a real mouthpiece-type construction instead of just an open tube.

It seems the Solo joins the Herbalaire as a vape which can use solid, nugget-type material. I think this is probably partly due to fact part of the Solo's heating is partly by conduction, direction contact between material and the ceramic crucible or whatever you want to call it. The ABV produced by both vapes are also very very similar, vaporized to the point where you may just want to dump it. Someone mentioned that it could benefit form a rubberized grip, I totally agree. Or just a design which swells out to make it less slippery.

The auto shutoff has already started to piss me off after like an hour of use.. I do wish there were a way to disable it. "Travel" mode and "home" mode if you will, one with auto shutoff when battery conservation is a priority, and one with no autoshutoff when you're just going to have a big long sesh and plug it in right after.

The solo seems to me a truly excellent way to introduce new people to vaporizing. Virtually no matter how hard or how slow you draw, you will get some measure of satisfying, dense vapor. This is one of the few vaporizers that you could really share with a stranger at a loud concert, for instance, without giving them a 90 second spiel about breathing technique or proper lighter control or how you need to wind a string or whatever if you have that cool friction vaporizer.

I have tried a solid nug in my stem that has no screen (one does and one doesn't at this point) and it did work pretty well. However I did crumble up the nug abv afterward and got a couple decent hits from my PD.

Since I am getting impatient waiting for the Cloud, I am considering this. I. Would buy it now if it had a GonG attachment to mate it with glass. Maybe you could use tubing?

I use a small length of silicone tubing about 3/4" long at the end of the mouthpiece and let it stick out about a 1/4" past the glass and it makes a perfect seal with glass. I think it works better and faster than wrestling two gong pieces together and apart constantly.
I really like the concept of no screen needed and that you no longer have to grind your herbs to dust to get a good hit. Just a twist or two in any grinder is plenty.

Stock stem works well with 14.4mm glass, nothing else needed. I personally have prefered it without any glass, the first hit is very thick and tastey, almost on par with the VHW, MW, ect. I have grown very fond of it.

I use mine on setting 4 most of the time, how about you guys?

hardly a design flaw just because the blown glass bits don't fit like a blow job. one of my glass bits is so tight as to be unusable... i ain't crackin' it though... luck of the draw... a perfect fit is a very modern ideal.. i don't expect the world on a plate for 300$.

i took mine on a 200 mile trip today... didn't feel a flaw all the way.

i run mine solo on 3... the battery last's long enough for four leisurely loads at this tmp. decidedly, anything above 3 hAS me coughing so in favour of a lot of smaller hits versus the big cloud... i use 3. i know i'm as baked as anyone but i just need a bit longer in the oven (sounds like the iolite) to cook.

don't you just love simile's :-)

I guess I'll order a couple extra stems and see if mine were just "off" runs or something. These local, to me, blowers are art guys... they don't want to even discuss blowing an "illegal" (hahaha) piece.

Well after afew more loads I find the Solo gets me quite vaped.Slight plasticy taste but that's wearing off.My stems fit very snug so my draw technique needs a bit of work, but overall I'm quite happy, except I can't seem to switch the thing off manually. It will only switch itself off.If I try to do it via the up/down buttons it just switches itself on again.Anyone else had this?.

Kelblow,

OhTheAgony

here for the chicks
I can't believe I just bought another vape, I can't f*ing believe it.

I wasn't suppose to buy another one, it's all your fault *shakes fist towards the early adapters in this thread*

It seems a good alternative for the PD I've been craving but not been able to obtain and the LB I sort of feel I need for traveling and such in one. I'm quit curious if it can replace my SSV completely.

Now the horrendous waiting starts.... (damn you)

I think you'll really like it, Agony. I've been very impressed so far, outside of some caveats I've listed in my previous post. It can easily handle solid materials with Vapolution or Herbalaire type results, and the battery lasted me about 2 and a half hours maybe.

Both of my stems fit perfectly - they slide in and out with little effort, stay in place when I tip it upside down, don't spin around - so I guess I just got lucky. Smokum, have you tried complaining to your retailer or rockwise about your ill fitting ones? When you're dealing with handblown glass made for a factory made piece of equipment, such as the stems for the Solo or the glassheater covers on the 7th floor vapes, then there's always going to be some percentage that don't work well, or at all, and any good company realizes that. I also really wish the stems were more ergonomic and attractive. They have all the aesthetic appeal and tactile pleasure of a 3 dollar crack pipe.

The instructions are lacking. It's awkwardly written and sparse on important information, such as proper battery care. Does it need to be run down every time, once in a while, never? Can I plug it in the instant I'm done using it and constantly have it charged up and ready? How about cleaning? I've already seen a little piece of material disappear into a little crevice in the heat chamber.

Still, I'm giving the solo a 8.5 for 10 easy at this point.

OhTheAgony I'am in the same situation ..... Grrrr but i have ordered one ! ......

But one question i'am wonder : every one here seems ok to says that the solo is a very good product. But by the hell, why Arizer don't communicate on this product?
I totally agree with you charliedontsurf, it'a shame to have no infos about correct usage of the battery, or cleaning.
Why the AC Adapter is not available NOW? And so we can save life of the battery when we use it at home?

Dozen of review of the Solo are on the Web, but we have ZERO INFOS of THE MANUFACTURER OF THIS PRODUCT (except a 'light' manual) !!!!!
Is it strange or i'am becoming too suspicious or Arizer is a very small company and they have no money for ....... i dont' know ..... why not beginning to update their website www.arizer.com ?!

Now about the product itself, we all know that the weakness of the solo is the stem , and i think a good alternative may be an anodized aluminium stem (like the vaporgenie alu, which is great). Do you know if there is a place on the web where someone can create theses 'anodized aluminium stems' ?
(and as a bonus, i would try different versions of this stem :
4 or 8 or 16 or more holes.....maybe with better airflow ..... or maybe create a kind of 'integrated screen' in the stem....)

Thanks !

luckily for me i'm only a partial moron so i managed to work out the really complicated solo buttons. the instructions indeed are sparse but... c'mon!

now for my conspiracy theory;

the clash occurred when the vape big boys, arizer and o&b colluded to stagger the launch of their products. solo comes out.. wispr delayed. canada post on strike for 2 weeks.. a further 2 week delay. i really don't believe that the wispr is still under the "tweaking" process after a products launch date. no company works like that.
but, companies do know about marketing. think about it girls, if they both came out at the same time most of us would have made a choice between the 2... but a couple of months apart... lot's will buy both. shrewd marketing. let's not forget... these are big companies who want your $. they are not stoners.

i reckon these blokes are working us. something's not quite right!

Sounds like you got some bad stems. I got a tight one and a loose one. The loose one has never fallen out at all, and i prefer it to the tight one just because it is easier to get in there. They both work really well though. Maybe spend $10 to try a new stem and ask that it be tested for fitment first? I really got lucky and both stems are perfectly fine.

Has worked perfectly in the bong me and JoeFinny have used a few times. No attachment needed IMO. Try it out!

darkrom,
Vapor bonging can be slightly lacking in the flavor department, as I have personally found almost all partial-conduction, always-on vaporizers are. On the other hand, small loads provide very dense clouds and a startling amount of them. The Solo makes a formidable vape bong solution if you don't mind some slight taste concessions. And as long as you don't allow a bowl to chill for needlessly long without hitting it, I consider the Solo to be very efficient in general, direct draw or vapor bonging.

I also really appreciate how truly idiot-proof the Solo is. There is almost no wrong way for someone to hit it, they will always get some vapor. So few vaporizers have such little learning curve and so it's great for sharing with newbies. I see the Solo making many, many instant vaporizer converts. One friend's response to the first bowl was literally "that thing's brilliant."
