Arizer Solo

Blowing up in the forums was probably not the best way to handle the issue.

Yeah I can't see anything topping the LB in portability/stealth, I have found that I can use it nearly anywhere. I'm incredibly pumped about the Solo though after reading the feedback on it and watching every video I could find, the portability combined with the big hits is very intriguing.

Now I am getting off topic aab1. This is one of those cases where a post, or several, were changed entirely by you. Your most recent couple of posts were edited from what I read originally. Not just a little spelling, adding a sentence here and there, they were changed a lot. I do not wish to argue this anymore or even reference what was edited out that had me a little annoyed. If you wish to discuss it further (which i don't) please send me an email.

My suggestion and biggest hope and recommendation; read a little deeper before you post, try using a search engine in conjunction with your FC search (someone much smarter then i has posted how to do so before), and don't neglect the hard working mod's. When threads become flooded with off topic talk, it becomes much more difficult to find the relevant information that we seek. Understand, a lot of people on this site have pride in how it is ran and even as to what is said. We are adults. Now sincerely, welcome to FC. Glad you could fill us in on the info about lithium ion batteries.

One final on topic question. With the current postal situation in Canada, how long of a turn around have those of you who have ordered from Rockwise seen. I am hoping being from Michigan will expedite the process, but i doubt it.

aab1: You're right on your first point, I didn't think the transformer comments through.

On the second point, are you trying to tell me that constant charging with poorly designed chargers doesn't reduce battery life? That flies directly in the face of my experience and my reading on this subject. For example, from batteryuniversity.com:

Some portable devices sit in a charge cradle in the on position. The current drawn through the device is called the parasitic load and can distort the charge cycle. Battery manufacturers advise against parasitic load because it induces mini-cycles. The battery is continuously being discharged to 4.20V/cell and then charged by the device. The stress level on the battery is especially high because the cycles occur at the 4.20V/cell threshold.

A portable device must be turned off during charge. This allows the battery to reach the set threshold voltage unhindered, and enables terminating charge on low current. A parasitic load confuses the charger by depressing the battery voltage and preventing the current in the saturation stage to drop low. A battery may be fully charged, but the prevailing conditions prompt a continued charge. This causes undue battery stress and compromises safety.

Laptops in particular have gotten improved charging designs that minimize these problems. As far as I can determine, mini-charging cycles are still problematic for devices that are used while charging, and this kind of use always reduces battery life somewhat. The degree depends on the charger design. If you have a source that shows otherwise, I would appreciate being directed to it because I do not like to be misinformed.

Nice post pak!

Heres an idea, what if there were a switch on the bottom of the solo, and a separate jack to plug in a power adapter? This way the solo could get direct juice from wall to Vape(not charging and using from the battery at the same time) and the battery could charge on its own.

The switch would switch between battery mode and direct power. Put it on direct for vaping while charging, and then battery mode for the rest of the time.

Whlle this would require two power cables, it would make it an even better home unit for infinite hits with no battery stress.

Edit, Hadn't read the more recent post by rock wise that pretty much says explains that this is what theyre doing.

I ordered mine on the 11th, but apparently the Canada Post has completely shut down in response to the rotating strikes they were having. Kevin at Rockwise said the Government may vote to send the Post back to work on Monday, so for now I'm in waiting. I hope they work it out quickly, I can't wait to get my new piece and try it out!

@ lwien: I think this is a pretty stealthy portable, maybe second to the LB to my standards of stealth. Stealth to me simply means you could duck away with it and take some puffs on the move. No vape is so stealth i would feel comfortable with hitting it while other people watched in public, so i would only put this bellow the LB due to size/bulk in the pocket/hand, although likely smaller then a cell phone.

The Solo will not replace my PD. But it will be nice for walking around the house, in my private backyard, outside BBQ (I grill almost once a day in the summer), garage, on the move in the car, fishing, off to a friends house, laying in bed, hiking, beach, camping, ect. Not to mention i collect these damn things, and it may be the new latest in greatest in portables (to my standards i am hopeful it will be my current champ). I still have the Supreme for big hits on the move with less stealth, that can be used off the grid. The LB may be the most stealth vape out there, and i still got that if i want to hold a little more then a fist to my mouth. Oh yeah, and the PD's can be used in the car and alike too. And with power inverters, almost any vape can.

^^ Thanks, Krazy. Much appreciated.

Still LOVE the Solo after much much use....however...it's going to require a much needed rest due to the fact that my tolerance is so high that I honestly can't even feel the effects of it anymore. I am a medicinal user for sleep (that abuses recreationally much too often) and I know I need to take a break when I can't feel it's effects and not be able to sleep anymore....sooooooooo....

my question is what is the best way to store this thing for 1-2+ months? I'm assuming since it came with a low charge that I should store it that way? I think with LI batteries you should never store them for long periods completely fully charged. I did that with a cell phone battery once, and well yeah it was completely ruined after maybe 3 months.

And again, and especially aab1, the EQ and Solo are different animals! The EQ holds much more product, for longer and bigger hits. Pretty sure the EQ and go hotter, and most importantly you don't have to always turn the thing on again after 12minutes lol Although I guess the new power adapter would solve that.

Oh I also wanted to add that those glass pieces on the solo are a pain to clean. With my EQ parts it was simple iso and hot water and maybe a little qtip action. The solo tubes get product stuck in that bend that I think will require some long soaking as I STILL can't get them completely clean. I'll havta venture into a head shop to find some proper brushes to clean this thing and maybe some purple power. It is VERY nice to ONLY have to clean the glass piece though for cleanup!

How would everclear dipped pipe cleaners, such as Ream and Clean work?

Try simple green. You can get it at lowes for 10 bucks. Works way better than ISO for soaks.

Really....for soaks only? Or does it work as good as iso for quick cleaning as well? Iso starts to add up at $3+ per bottle.

I'm not familiar with those products but some time of pipe cleaner will definitely be required to get some of the gunk off unless you soak for a long time.

Great Scott!
@lwien

Are you thinking of picking one up? I am curious how a long time lover of his PD feels about the thing. As far as I'm concerned this LOOKS great, and I hope the 15% discount comes to the US. If it does, I will be ordering one. I can't see how someone who would own a PD or MZ wouldn't view this as the perfect mate for their home vape. For me it is probably the closes thing I can get to my DBV on the go. I'll certainly still want my MFLB for stealth, but the DBV is a whole different kind of effects, that quite frankly I have been 100% unable to get with my beloved MFLB. I'm hoping this will fill that gap and sacrifice a tiny bit of discretion for an increase in effects and an even purer air path.

^^ I really can't afford one. Just trying to get a handle on where it would fit within the vaporizer market.

I don't need a portable being that I do all my vaping at home but it would be kind of nice not being tethered to a power cord, if in fact, it could offer up everything that the PD can offer up.

Just watched one of the vids and noticed how nicely the glass "snapped" into place. Both my glass pieces are pretty loose.... just wanted to get an idea what other Solo owners glass pieces fit like. I think i'd much prefer the snug fit. This is the first quality inconsistency that I have noticed so far. Actually, also after unscrewing the cap, I noticed those tiny plastic retainer clips aren't really seated correctly either.

Greetings all,
Just wanted to share the grief of the shipping strikes in Canada. I ordered my new solo
9 days ago and it is still waiting to get out of Canada. To his credit, Kevin notified me
of this situation and offered a carrying case to offset my delay. I will follow up with
my version of a review as soon as I get my shaky hands on the little bugger!

Simple green cleans any tube a lot better than alcohol, a long soak without shaking almost always makes your tube spotless. The nice part is you don't need to shake your expensive glass around. However, you can't evaporate simple green down to reclaim your resin, and it is more difficult to fully rinse the flavours and aromas out, where as alcohol will evaporate cleanly all on its own. For cleaning a big tube simple green any day. For cleaning these little bats, I choose iso just so I can reclaim still, one day.

Edit: For the gunk right behind the screen, the above tip of alcohol soaked pipe cleaners, along with some creativity is a good way to get the gunk out behind there, and it's what I did yesterday and will continue to do. I personally couldn't bend the pipe cleaner right down into the corner of the bowl behind the screen but with some manual dexterity and ingeniuity you probably could and it's 99% clean. If you wanted to get it totally clean, maybe some sand or rock salt and a shake would work. Abrasive make a big difference, I've seen gross resinous combustion pieces come spotless very quickly. Though once again that makes reclaiming hard too.

Why smoke and die, when you can vape and fly?
After considering an iolite Wispr, I've ordered an Arizer Solo instead. Interested fellow Aussies, go to www.australianvaporizers.com.au. Enter 'Arizer Solo' in the search box, and discount code AUS-FC10 at the checkout, to save A$33.

Watch this space for an unbiassed opinion, some time between tomorrow and doomsday.

Happy vaping. Hairy. :)

He mentioned the carrying case to me too, and that accessories would be available on his site within a few weeks. Been very pleased with customer service! My Solo made it out to the Canada Post before they shut down, so unfortunately I have to wait for the strike to end for my unit to continue shipping.

I would consider both mine to be a tight fit. One slightly tighter than the other. Maybe even a little too tight for my liking.

Does the solo work with liquid and other non-plant materials(think bubble gum h)?

Well that kinda sucks for me! BOTH of mine are looser than loose! They wiggle and would fall out upside down or even if you just turned the unit on its side. So this is a confirmed inconsistency of quality in the glass pieces. I do love the unit, but for $300 and Arizer's known quality this is a disappointment.
