Anybody know anything about the Firefly?

Due summer 2011 and signed up for info, but I'm wanna know about it NOW!!!

Came across mention of it on google in a rather poorly informed advert/article; http://www.viceland.com/blogs/en/2011/04/18/weed-dealings-the-evolution-of-the-vaporizer/

But little else.

I thought FC would have something, but only one brief mention in the LB thread.

Surely one amongst us must know something? Care to share?

yeah i remember reading about it on here too, but didn't find out how it works or anything.

Kinda sounds like a vapexhalelabs type company. i sent them an email telling them to come to FC and hang out!

I signed up for that email as well. Would love to see what kind of portable they designed with batteries.

Now there's some informed reporting-batteries IN the heating element.

Pretty steep for a portable IMO.

To further confuse things, there's already a $300+ portable named the Cloud9- Cloud9

Until these guys have at least something to show, the Firefly vaporizer is nothing more than vapor.

^ Seriously. If it's so close to release, why do we know nothing about it? You need to build hype to have a successful product launch, and these guys are barely on the radar. I don't want to sound elitist and say every new vape HAS to come through FC, but if the rest of the community was talking about it, we would be too, right?

On another note, the two most recent portable vape launches (the WISPR and Solo) have been in the $300 range, so it's not entirely unreasonable that a new company might think that is what they can charge.

I am surprised they never came by to say hello either. I invited them! haha guess a guy called weedemon telling them to come to a place called fuckcombustion didn't appeal to them.

oh well their loss, when the product comes out I know we will be talking about it!

Did some digging. I'm getting the impression these guys are scamming investors, or they have their heads up their asses:

One of the company founders and VP of Engineering is on LinkedIn. Although it seems he's also busy at the moment working for a company designing these . He should get back to vape making :/ It's also the same guy listed for 'Archibald products' linked in post above.

It's definitely been a summer of vape innovation, and I think Arizer won the 'race'. I had high hopes for this but with no news, I went for a Solo.

I'm hopeful that something nice will come out eventually, but as we can see on these boards with other design processes we've been privy to , it takes a lot longer than I would have imagined to get a vape designed and into production.

I disagree that companies have to release lots of details and whip up hype before product launch. Arizer didn't do it at all with the Solo, and Oglesby and Butler only did it with the WISPR because GotVape went ahead and did so unilaterally. It seemed O&B were no where near ready at that time. And even when they were the details were frustratingly scant- all we got from O&B was 'shhhh it's coming' and a picture.
I really don't know much about commerce, but I think generally companies would like to keep enough details secret that the launch is still a big event. I reckon we'll hear much more about it a month or two before they're ready for release, just enough to get us salivating. They've already started that process a little with these vague articles.

There's definately something to be said until waiting until you are ready- it seems Got Vape pissed a lot of customers off setting the agenda with optimistic launch dates that o&b couldn't meet, where as this didn't happen with the Solo release. Too many delays and you start to wonder if there are problems?, is the company any good? etc

But then too little information and the public might start to question as 'are they scammers?' or 'are their heads up ther arses?' as in the post above. So come on Cloud9, show yourselves! I'm certain they're watching- if you had a start up vaporizer design company that had it's own speculative thread on an internet forum, wouldn't you be watching?

To chime in here, I really do prefer the VXC approach of making em' drool and lust over your new product with a slow trickle of updates and refinements over the Arizer approach of "we've been making a portable for three years and HERE it is" all of a sudden.

If they had been forthcoming about the limitations of their vape's battery life, I would of resolutely told them "No! 1 hour, 15 minutes is an unacceptable battery life and you should see if you can do better." I hate to bitch, but today I went out with two stems of ABV, and after rocking two very surprisingly satisfying bowls at 5-7 setting, my battery life showed one star, from a full, FULL charge. These were long, leisurely bowls, which spilled over the auto shutoff, but I was still scowling when I checked my battery life. I may have been out of stuff to vaporize, but on principle it was just like... Really? That's it?

The whole "instant on" principle makes it sound very MFLB, conduction-on-a-switch type...

I did the same. The pitch these guys have sound awesome and am hopeful that they deliver, just as I mentioned in my solo review http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?pid=147417#p147417

Zioneyez looks cool! but is vaporware to as of now from what I see. Does show that the guys are into product design, but does not convince of the fact that they actually deliver. I dont mean to judge the guys, just speculating

WOW whats this cloud 9 thing? Looks like a portable PD system. Has any body used it is there anymore info?

I completely agree with you. VXC ftw. with being honest and upfront with us the whole way! can't wait until they are shipping. they have my money as soon as they want it!

Looks like this may literally turn out to be vaporware, absolutely nothing from these guys in months and no way of getting in contact with them. If any of the Firefly 3 frequent this haunt, now is the time to speak before everyone throws their money at the Cloud

I was also really surious about this one too but: no more news or details about the product, no reply from them via email = right now. i dont care anymore.
