Got a badass walnut unit! Can't wait to get home and try it out, hit it bout 5 times of a small load at the show, preforms really well! Gonna try and use with a tube and not the whip, may have to spin something to adapt it to a log!

Hello and good morning, got back Thursday afternoon, had a hella time, met some great people and setup a few biz deals for this year. Even saw a midget pimp riding a rascal pimpn his ho's, only in Vegas!

Ok, had to get started with me Epic as soon as I got in the shop Thursday night, seems like I remember dropping the whip and the glass elbow breaking there at the show, Andy put together my box of goodies and I think the one I broke was the one I was supposed to be getting so when I open it up and found no glass elbow, I was like WTF, how did this happen, what the hell am I gonna do now? Well, plugged it up to get it ready, looked in the fridge in my shop and much to my dismay, no beer, so made a quick run to the beer store and while driving thought how the hell am I gonna use this without the glass???? Hm I had been thinking of how I was gonna use it with one of my wooden tubes since I got it at the show, came up with a quick idea to use a piece of ceramic high temp fiber, cut it into about a 1" disk, drilled a 1/4" hole in the center, pushed the brass insert piece through the center so it would seat well against the wooden tube, then used the straw method to suck in a load into the insert, then placed it over the outtake hole and inhaled through the tube, and whoa it like a freaking champ, slow solid hits like the MZ and CRZ I have used before. Big milky hearty vapor clouds. Hadnt really been a high in a couple dayz, Andy let me hit a couple times at the show through the whip, but didnt hit anything like the tube I had inserted into it. I hit it for a couple more tubes off some good mid grade I had and caught an awesome buzz. The next day I decided to put it on boost to see how she would preform, and WOW, total chokers! The Epic was charging me with gut busters, I was hacking and coughing like hell. I really gotta say that this thing is EPIC, its the shit! I really dig it for a log style instead of the whip style, I need to get another glass elbow from you Andy to take full advantage of it as a whip style before I can really comment on it that way. Also seemed to have misplaced the little thimble screen that goes down in the heat-port over the core, would like to get a couple more of those also. Have been thinking of some ideas to make this thing really work for my tubes and am gonna be doing some research to get what I need to make em work. As for right now the Epic is all that and then some. Oh and it has a super quick warm up time, 2 - 5 minutes max, it was cold in my shop when I got back so could have affected it slightly. I will get some pics up really soon, am hella busy in the shop and only have time for a couple vape hits and back to work!

Thanks Andy for hooking me up, it was great to meet you and pls tell me what I need to do to get those replacement parts! I hope you did well at the show and look to hear from you soon!

Thanks for your feeback Ed. Need to get you another bowl to try this vape as intended. Did you try to adjust the temp at all to your liking? I personally like my vapor lower in temp then the EV1 comes out of the box but some are on the other end of the spectrum, and like their vapor hotter then stock temp. Once you dial into the perfect temp for you, it is very easy and quick to plug in, and be taking fat clouds a few minutes later. cheers.

Got the upgraded ev-2 in the mail yesterday. First impressions are that I like the changes from the ev-1. It seems a little shorter and a little fatter then my original unit. I really like how the switch is on the unit and is not the lamp switch like the original. The new bowl and hose are much improved from the original. I got one of the new ones with 2 minute start time which is huge. I will get a video up soon.

I havent changed the temp dial yet, only changed it from on to boost, really dig it using my tubes, really hits like a true log! Really agree with Twanbiz, the on off switch and boost settings with the dial on the bottom is the shit, Andy has made some great strides in perfecting this unit, have only seen the progress here on the thread, the unit I hold in my hands is very sleek and very PRO!

So many log vapes these days, with the PD out of the picture where do you turn? The Epic vape should be included with the other top log vapes. Andy has done a great job with this one, as I said the revisions are great, I really like the blue light as well. I think the heating core is improved as my hits were still large but the taste was improved over the original. This will easily attach for water filtration. Enjoy.

Can I see your rigged setup Ed? If you do decide to tweak temp my suggestion is do it from a cold start and just tweak it a tiny bit at a time.

@Twanbiz. You would have to consider the epic among top log vapes currently do to look and pricepoint, ease of use (although I may argue this is easier to use for a first time vaporist). But I would almost like to compare more to LSV, SSV, in a lot of ways too, exspecially sheer hit power vs a PD or MZ. Less expensive. But glass connections and sheer hit power and variable temp put it more against box vapes and 7th foor too. This is a unique little gem that fits somewere inbetween and is built here in the USA.

Hi Krazy, I have not had the chance to try an LSV or SSV, but I do have a v3 heat wand. I would say that the epic is certainly easier to use, the video i took that was the first hit i took out of the epic! There really isn't a learning curve with this piece, you simply draw long and slow and don't over-pack. There is certainly much more of a learning curve with the vhw, and the vhw is more fragile. I would agree it hits harder then the standard log vapes, probably besides the HI. However the Epic is all glass airpath. As you said it is somewhere in between a vhw, and a log vape.

Alright, just ordered a stick of PTFE Rod, got it a little larger OD, want to turn it down so it kinda works like a shoulder washer with a slight plug going into the glass section within the device, will bore a 5/16" hole through the center, to make this baby work with my wooden tubes. Been thinking that I may have to use a super high temp Oring just up the tip of the tube where it meets the wood just to make sure its a snug fit with no air loss. Really think this will do it for the EV and am looking forward to my findings, will let ya know. Am slammed right now with LB stems now but really wanna get some pics of the baby, she is sleek and trim, fits right in the hand and preforms really well. I am posting the info of the rod stock below so if anyone has issues pls let me know.

PTFE is a low friction fluoropolymer with outstanding chemical and weathering resistance. The working temp range is -20 F to 500 F. It has the lowest coefficient of any solid. It has no slip-stick characteristics; static and dynamic coefficients are equal. Nothing sticks with any strength to unheated surfaces. Both virgin and mechanical grades are UV stabilized. Virgin material meets FDA standards and is USDA approved.

This thing has a really sweet operating system, on, off, and boost modes as well as a temp dial that can be adjusted if the user likes.

You can see here how I have made a quick adaption for making my tubes useful with it.

Well, thanks to all the great reviews and pics. I am going to take the plunge and grab
an Epic. So much hype about other vapes being released, re-released, delayed. It is
great to see a handmade product, made in USA, w/ good reviews, and AVAILABLE......
Got to go and get me a nice walnut unit....Thanks again to all who have contributed
their opinions.

Funny, I just started doing something very similar this weekend, but used a 14/18mm glass adapter (http://www.aqualabtechnologies.com/...ers/alt-14-18-mm-low-pro-reducer-adapter.html) instead of the thing you're using (cloth of some kind?). Found it fits perfectly on my stock PD and CRZ stems. Thought it brought the EV-1s efficiency closer to that of a log. Great for glass too.

Arf, am using a piece of high temp ceramic fiber, just got a stick of high temp reckon, am gonna turn it down as I explained above. I think it performs well as a log, really like the way it handles.

I've been thinking silica or carbon aerogel would be great for applications like this as well, as the price of them come down. Light, heat-resistant and nonreactive.

The ptfe rod is reasonable and can handle 500 degrees easy, will turn down just the same as walnut!

I got myself a new log y'all! The rod spun really easy and seats very well in the unit, airflow is just right, the inner hole is the 5/16" ID so there is now need for an Oring. Put it on boost and cranked out some really hearty clouds. This is what I came up with, oh and had it in the unit for over an hour, there is no discoloring on the teflon at all, its very solid and an easy adapter.

Very nifty and inventive :) Nice adaptation there. How's the air-flow?

Air flow is very steady and easy, hits very similar to the crz, boost mode is the shit, big clouds, made some duck nesting boxes this morning and my friend had never hit a vaporizer, he was choking!

Really like this unit as a log, let it warm up with the on setting quickly move it to boost and arch out, on has solid charges, nice healthy hits, boost is another story, full on chokers ripping out of this thing, someone need to do a video!
