It looks like my replacement unit has been shipped. I wonder if it will be the same unit, or have things been updated?

I will let you know what I find on Wednesday when it should be here.

Glad to hear you got yours on its way. No update on my end if anything has shipped to me. Hope to see one soon :)

College grower, It's a newer unit. Not the same unit.
Gvape. Your new one is on the way also. Although they are updated units, they are not production units. Production units are still at least 3 weeks out and I didn't want you guys to have to wait. Of course you will be able to update again when production units are ready.

Andy,

Thanks for the update. Will be interesting to see how a different unit performs. I will share my thoughts on Wednesday when it should be here!

Well I got my replacement unit, but unfortunately can't use it quite yet.

The piece of wood that Andy sent is much prettier, and seems quite a bit smaller than the original. The innards also seem to be a little different as well. I will get some photos up asap.

The reason I can't use the ev1 is the replacement el bowl has a smaller diameter where the tubing connects and my original tubing is too large. I am also missing the little plug that goes into the bowl to keep the herbs in. Once I get these minor problems solved I will be able to comment on how it performs.

Oh does it feel good to have an EPIC again. LOVE the new design. Much slimmer, and a bit shorter than the original beta. New cord and bottom. Much slicker looking cord.. really like it.

Only one downside I have so far... It gets way too hot on the lower setting. Almost all my bowls are coming out a bit too dark for my taste. Also tastes a bit funky when it gets that hot. No combustion yet, so cant complain.

ANDDDD... Well THANK YOU ANDY! You listened and even gave me an extra little piece. Took a screen jammed it in like the EL-BOWL has and made a male to male glass connector. Gonna have to get some pictures up. This thing can MILK my glass now. Gonna have to say Im REALL digging this for my glass setup.

Well, the Epic is a bit too hot for me. Its getting everything way to dark with one hit. Gonna have to chat with andy to see if its just my unit or all of the new units.

I thought to myself since its getting so hot, lets see what it can do with a dab of BHO. Took the dome screen stuck a flattened dab on it. Stuck the dome back inside the joint, and went to town. Just as I thought... one dab gave me 3 or 4 nice thick vapor clouds that left me coughing. Took the dome off with my new EPIK and the oil was gone, no residue or anything, just a clean screen.

Nice to know I can vape some BHO with this :ko:

I would love to see what your cord looks like. My replacement has the same cord and switch as the original beta.

I would love for try the male to male glass connector as well.

Agree, no more lamp cord. I had always envisioned a button instead of the switch, what does the new button look like?

Same button and cord essentially, just a wrap around it.

Ill post pictures soon, sorry been meaning to.

Ok, sorry for the delay on how long it took me to get these pictures up. But now you can finally enjoy them! I also included a few pics of the adapter I got. I should be using it on a 18mm piece to avoid all the extra glass, but I wanted to use it on my new macro so thats why I got all the extra attachments.

I have to say I really like the epic a lot more for water then I do for the actual whip part. Its just a bit too hot for me that way. Not to say I dont use it for the whip or I dont like the whip, I just find myself using it a lot more for water pipe attachment. Especially since it has a much sleeker design. Also since the material sits on the bottom screen at all times it gives more of a gap between the heater and material causing it to not get as dark, which I greatly enjoy. That way I can bump it up to boost for a quick hit or two if I want a heavier hit. Hopefully I can work on getting a video up and show these milky hits this thing can produce!

One more thing I want to comment on which I doubt makes much of a difference, but could, is that my heater is on an angle and touching the glass wall inside (not standing straight up). I hope it doesn't get too hot where it may cause it to crack.

Just wanted to show the sizes of different wood and vapes. In order of left to right: First Beta Epic, Second Beta Epic, Purple Days, Purple Days, Toasty Top

mmmm that look nice. Bulky but I knoooow the hits are killer. Epic please make this very easy to mount to one's water accessories.

I honestly can not get enough of this Epic Water.... Glass filtration with the epic is just beastly, I have been getting the most perfectly coked abv.

Just realized that the cord in the picture Andy posted is different from the cord that I currently have, even though the cord I have is a bit upgraded from the orig one I had. Also notice that the top looks a bit different too. The plate that holds the top down looks more flush and not as round... Almost as if its one piece and just pushed in.

Really cant wait to see the final version of this bad boy. Its such a killer vape. Its been awesome being able to see this vape go through the changes.

Wow, GVAPE you have a nice collection of wood vapes there. Ever think about adding the Supreme to your lineup? Might be a nice addition to the wood family.

The newest units do appear to be much more polished then the original betas. Glad to see someone using these thru glass also. I'll agree that in my opinion the temp on mine is too hot, as i like pretty low temp. vape. But ease of use on this might be the best of anything that i currently have at the house. I have no problem hitting the VHW or the Extreme oh MFLB for example. But some people who don't vape often, will view using these as a chore, and something that actually takes a little technique and experience to use in the best manor. The EV-1 is plug and go, and very nice as a transition from smoking with its high set temp.

I actually dont know much about the supreme really. Never really did the research on it. I have looked in to it, just not that much. Id prob most be interested in it if I could pick a used one up, I have so many vapes that at this point I need a pretty good reason to grab a new one. I plan on taking a picture of all my vapes/glass together someday... soon hopefully :)

How are you using this through glass? With the whip or do you have some sort of adapter? I really would like to get a shorter adapter and one that goes to 14mm since almost everything I have is 14mm. It is really nice that its so easy to use. I love not stirring it too, just a tap here or there and its good to go.

I have never used my EV1 thru glass except for my LSV Transfer wand. I use only my VHW and S for glass currently, until i get my VXC back that is.

I've gone ahead and purchased my first "proper" piece of glass, an 18mm to 5/16ths hose elbow adapter for the other end of a piece of whip, and I'm just waiting on the new unit to show up before the whole thing gets cobbled together and tested out.

Ohhhh, what did ya get? If I were you I would try and get/hope Andy offers some sort of all glass attachment. It really is nice not having to deal with a whip.

It's a Blackleaf Nautilus (The smaller of the two, with the bent tube.) I'd love an all glass system, but the extra elbow was just a few bucks to try it out before something Andy makes becomes available, or I find another superior option.

From an aesthetic standpoint the new look is subtle. On the design side its built completely different. Previously the heating chamber was friction pressed in from the top. Now it is loaded from the bottom, and the new wood lip at the top holds it permanently into place. Future units will incorporate a heating element which is 20mm shorter that will give more distance between the EL-Bowl and the heater source,as well as a larger air hole in the downstem. This will lower the temp just a tad. Yes, the cords have been upgraded as well.

All EV-1s are still made as green as possible. There is no glue, no plastic, no solder, no electronics, no paint or lacquer or stain. I only use sustainable hardwoods (one solid piece, no glued up laminates) with an organic wax finish. The pure ceramic heating element is RoHs compliant.
