Eclipse Vape Pipe

http://www.eclipsevape.com/ - new Eclipse Vape pipe (not to be confused with Eclipse Vape H20)
vs
http://www.essentialvape.com/ - older Essential VAAAPP pipe

The new name of the Essential VAAAPP seems to be the Eclipse Vape. Design and function of the Eclipse Vape/VAAAPP pipes are identical (I believe), but you get more goodies in you case. It now comes with 2 extra screens and 2 extra o-rings as well as a small vial. New to the forum, so don't know how to post pics yet. But the Aqualab has a pic of the new case if you want to see...
http://aqualabtechnologies.com/vaporizers/eclipse-vape-pipe-by-essential-vaaap-blue.html

The only place I've seen the new Eclipse (other than above website) is at my local store and at Aqualab.

If you own either of these models and need parts: the "new" website (www.eclipsevape.com) has o-rings and screens for sale. The Essential VAAAPP online site does not.

Bought the older VAAAPP last night, got home and noticed this change after much research. This morning my local store was SO generous and took it back and replaced it with the Eclipse Vape with the extra screens/o-rings in pouch.

NOTE: This was essentially (pun intended) the same post I created in the VAAAPP thread. However, now that we have a new name & website, IMO we need a new Eclipse Vape thread.:2c:

And so? Efficiency on concentrates IYO?
DISCLAIMER: I KEEP COMPARING THIS TO THE CANO. THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VAPES, BUT ITS THE ONLY COMPARISON I FEEL CAN BE MADE WITH SO FEW VAPES ABLE TO HANDLE CONCENTRATES.

Nothing can beat it for a portable concentrate vape (is there any other portable than can do truely do "oils"). Vape is pure. Conservation is incredible (which is key for very potent concentrates), you can just seal it up and pull it out the next day or whenever. Very Portable, especially with the case. The new case (being the only real difference between the two models, Eclipse and VAAAPP) is far superior. It's not easy to find these screens, so extra screens in the case is very nice (o-rings are a dime-a-dozen, but nice to have on hand just in case).

New case comes with two 1 dram vials ("normal size" vials that came with the original VAAAPP) and a 0.5 dram. The 0.5 dram vial is useless IMO. Short and way to close to the screen for my comfort. If you want extra vials (almost a must IMO), just to a google for "one dram vial" (although they are available from the www.eclipsevape.com site directly). This store (http://www.specialtybottle.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=12) has some great ones that are darker to avoid light exposure for potent concentrates (some are blue, then you can look really cool with vials that match your Eclipse and still have a real function). Almost any one dram standard vial work with the Eclipse series of vapes (H20 as well).

Long story short, if you want to medicate with concentrates then this is the way to go. The Cano is nice with concentrates. However, I've always felt like the Cano was a "party vape" (nothing wrong with that :)). The Eclipse is an individual/personal concentrate vape. Compared to the Cano, I feel this is more efficient, portable, affordable and no electronics/fans that could potentially break.

FYI - have not used it on plant material and do not plan on it anytime soon. I've got other vapes for that ;)...and don't want to waste the plant after reading all the negative reviews in regards to the original VAAAPP and dry materials. Press is an option...may have to report on that soon...

treecityrnd,
I've had my eclipse vape h20 for a couple weeks now, hands down it is the best thing I have ever smoked concentrates out of. I do not even touch my vaporizers really anymore I just boil that oil! I have a HMK curve on the way so we shall see who the true winner is but I suspect I will like and be using both for different reasons. :D

Hh, I only used the old VAAAP twice but I knew it was the ultimate portable/solo concentrate vapo:

Essential Vaaap or Eclipse Vaporizer... period! :D

I'll have to buy one of these budies... :/

EDIT: Just baught an EV101 (the new Eclipse Pipe with added goodies, not the old Vaaapp Essential EV100) in purple, on this site:
http://www.planete-sfactory.com/p3368/ECLIPSE-VAPE/product_info.html
Very good site, super service, free express shipping as a commercial gesture: it will be home tommorrow! MIAM!
After checking their site & the user's manual, it says it works with UNGRINDED plant material (I know its original purpose is concentrates and that's why I got it for but...)... I know the few tries with plant material on this forum were uneffective (did people put ungrinded nugs/buds in there?) and will report this WE!

:D

The Essential VAAAPP, the Eclipse Vape, the EV101, etc.. they're all the same exact unit and design.. just different name. They just wanted a friendlier name.. the pipe is the same.

I know Space... But the EV101 comes with 3 screens + 3 vials + 2 0-rings vs. the EV100 with 1 extra vial & 1 extra screen & 1 o-ring. Plus, the EV101 has more colors available: rasta etc... ;)
I'm totally aware of these being the same device...

Ditto, but those extra parts are essential (101) for me. No local places carry these screens. I love the place in the pouch that perfectly fits my Bic. Its like it was made for it = caries everything you need.

This thread is more to inform people that there is a new model, new direct website for device and parts, and to keep the older VAAAPP thread alive as it has many good ideas and tips for best results.

Eclipse does sound friendlier now that I think about it...and a full Eclipse is a beautiful thing!

So, a litlle feedback on this device.
1st of all I use it with my beloved japanese mini torch:
http://www.doncigarro.com/images/products/04006_20100911161503_acc.jpg
The prince pocket torch 207: small, super efficient (heated my friend's Supreme as fast as his big torch), life warranty, so useful with the lock feature...

My Eclipse works GREAT with it: correct heating method: 15 sec. for first vapor!

Works great with hash, qwiso, pressed khieff, flavors are really there, I don't even talk about medication efficiency, LOL :ko: ! You just control the vapor in the vial visually, sip, again and again...till you have a massive hit of resinous vapor in your mouth, MIAM! Average load is 0,1 max... Only 2 recommendations: Don't break your conentrates too much (neither your MJ); just put a small chunk, as if it's in thin parts, it will stick to the upper screen and mess the air path!
Heat the parts of the vial with no material 1st... and you'll heat the air in the vial. Then heat the material zone, and always move your flame!

I found that with a little added ABV, the afterwards cleaning part will be much easier with the bubble hashes.
I did vape with "success" some MJ, as indicated on the manual. Put an UNGRINDED micro-nug in the vial, same process...Got a few tokes!

I really need some more vials although the cleaning is quite easy: 2 drops of iso, close the vials 20 mn, a little stirring with a tooth pick or so+ hot water and clean as new! But with 20 vials (the ones with the round bottom, MUCH better!), it will be soooo easier to use intensively (dump 10 dirty vials in iso bath, use the 10 left, etc...)
Last comment: I like the mini vial... Super fast to heat that volume, very useful for MJ too!

The Eclipse Vapes with the GG fittings are awesome. They fit right inside your downstem and allow you to take vaporizered bong tokes. They give you both fittings too.

So as I use this more and more, I am beginning to wonder about a question I posted some time back but never really got a great answer...now I see why.
ABV Hash/BHO/Oil
http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=4752

Both of these tests were run with very light Ear Wax:
When I use a flame lighter with good butane (ugh, you should see what a bic does to the glass. And to think that I used that for so many yearssad) with very little heat, I can get many hits as it boils and eventually it becomes darker.
However
When I use my torch lighter, sometimes the oil will become dark very quickly.

Once the oil becomes dark, have you passed the point of combustion? Youve certainly passed 400F or so if the oil is boiling, but is it actually vaporizing? When the oil is light and boiling at a low temp, the hits are nice and smooth. After it darkens, its like the change when you accidentally combust your meds in your vape (I immediately empty that $h}T out in the trash, no AVB jar for you tar). In other words, are you essentially combusting after the oil turns dark/heats past a certain temp?

It brings me to something in the instruction from the company. Basically they say to heat the middle of the vial and then work down, barely holding the flame above the medicine for more than 15 seconds. Thus, there must be a temp that I am passing by using the torch. Thinking out loud

Overall, this thing ROCKS! I highly recommend it to everyone who likes to medicate with concentrates. There is a slight learning curve just like most vapes. Extremely efficient and easy storage. Now I store all my oils in the vials, that way when Im down to my last couple drops, I just use the storage vial on the Eclipse. Zero waste.

Hey guys, if any of you live near an Axman surplus store, I found glass vials that fit the essential. 0.15 apiece but no caps.

Now I have a couple of questions. My essential did not come with a screen. I assume I could order them and they would fit though right? And secondly how do you guys clean your essential? I assume I could just give it an iso bath but it doesn't say anything in the instructions.

Thats how my first one came ,no screeen. I started looking on the web b/c that didnt seem right. Sure enough, someone had removed it at my local stoer or EV just forgot. Luckily it was still unused and my local store exchanged it for the 101 with extra screens. Have you used it yet?
If so, the eclipsevape.com site has extra screen packs but PLEASE WAIT. Ive got an order with them placed 2 weeks ago that has not been shipped. I have put in emals to both eclipsevape.com and essentialvape.com asking them to explain the duel(ing?) website and why 2 names but same US patent #? Also, wheres my screens! Will report back all details asap.

Havent had to clean yet, but im assuming ISO bath. That was my plan.

Thanks tree. Yeah its to late for a return. When I was at the shop I asked about the screens, they said they have never seen them. They did have the new ones on order, they just didn't know when they would be there. So far I'm not sure that it is needed. I'm curious though, does the screen go in between the o ring and vial? Or does the screen go in first, then o ring , then vial? If it sits in between the oring and vial I might want one then, might help keep some heet off the oring. Probably won't order one though, ill just wait untill my shop has the new ones. Then ill beg for one from them.
Yeah, I was trying to figure out the website situation myself. It made my head hurt. I might have ordered a gong h20 if I could have gotten a clearer picture of the situation. It would be nice if they had a rep on here, I have some serious doubts about the company. But I really enjoy the product.

I got my eclipse recently as a gift and had no idea what it was or how to use it. Mine didnt come with a screen either so ill have to order online. How difficult it to make thc oil that can be vaped out of this? Or should I just stick with herb?

I wouldn't bother with herb as you have something better for that. You could use kief with this, which is very easy to make. Or you could make qwiso which is still easy to make, but not as easy as kief. You can find directions for qwiso here some where.

The Essential VAAAPP (EV100) pipe works great for my needs. I love that its portable, especially when Im on the road and want a few quick hits!. Works amazing with oil, hash, and good with herb. With MJ, I grind up the weed and load up 1/3 of the glass 5er (bigger glass vial), I heat the top of the vial first for 5 seconds and then move down to where the material is always moving the flame around untill I see vaper (usually 10 seconds) and take nice slow hits. The taste is amazing! and also works great with a torch lighter. Ive only had this puppy for a week, so there is definetly a learning curve for me with this vape. So far its been a blast experimenting with this vape. The pipe itself is very solid and should last me for years! :peace:

I completely agree with you. But I am pretty sure what is happening (Which is why we heat above the oil first I believe.) Is that when the oil vaporizes if it can cool really quickly, Which means without heating the top of the glass the vapor will pool at the bottom above your concentrate and you wont see it until you draw from your pipe, Then it will magically appear. At this point what is truly occurring is that your scorching the vapor because it needs to be able to circulate (Or what I believe the instruction's state as "The vapor wont form properly".) from the bottom, To the top where it cools near the aluminum then drops back down, Get's heated.....Etc. Etc.

Also liquid oil's can vaporize at well below their boiling point temperature.

This is my take on it though I do not actually own one. I bought the replacement vials on ebay and made my own deer antler handle to screw the vials into. (Yeah dremel) Which is funny because I didnt realize till now the guy who makes them is an Indian.

Damn us smurt redkneeks.

P.S. Ill get you guys pictures on the homemade vapes thread soon.

no
vaporization is boiling, and liquid oils contain a greater concentration of lower-boiling-point oils.
No?

Did you even bother to read your linked article?

Maybe you should :2c:

From the first paragraph;

There are three types of vaporization: evaporation, boiling and sublimation.....

Evaporation is a phase transition from the liquid phase to gas phase that occurs at temperatures below the boiling temperature at a given pressure. Evaporation usually occurs on the surface.

Boiling is a phase transition from the liquid phase to gas phase that occurs at or above the boiling temperature. Boiling, as opposed to evaporation, occurs below the surface.

Sublimation is a direct phase transition from the solid phase to the gas phase, skipping the intermediate liquid phase.

Hello,

intro (no real info, just skip it :))
I recently bought MFLB, it's great but recharging the batteries can get very annoying for a regular use.

Also since I will tent camp on the beach soon I want a portable vaporizer with a more reliable source of heat, that doesn't need an electrical power source (understand a can of butane or just a simple candle as a heat source).

more intro to the question
For now I will vaporize Acorus calamus, Salvia Divinorum and MJ (no oils).

So far I only liked Eclipse Vape Pipe (I'm from Europe and I will be buying it from vaposhop, where they sell the old one - Essential VAAAPP, but there doesn't seem to be a difference) and VaporGenie.

The EP seems to me as a better solution since:
  • you heat first and than breath[/*]
  • replaceable vials[/*]
  • you don't breath butane[/*]
  • unbreakable[/*]
  • can use oils[/*]
  • subjective reasons (like design and looks, case, etc)[/*]

However as some of you noted there are a lot of complaints of coughing.
As far as I have read over the almighty internet coughing is caused due to high vapor temperature that can also lead to throat infections.

question
Has any of you managed to get persistent results (not overheating) each and every time you use the EP.

It's really important for me to know If I will be able to have the same result on every use (ok not the same but you know what I mean), I don't want even occasional coughing since VG doesn't seem to have this problem.

thanks in advance part
Thanks in advance :)

Welcome Pasterino! Lots of people here use a torch lighter with this vape, but I swear by just using a standard candle flame lighter. It stand to reason that with less than 1mm of cheap glass between the 1300 deg C torch flame and your load that it's really easy to over cook. Takes a bit longer than a torch, but for me it's more than worth it.

I have to say though that i don't really rate this vape too well for buds- the air hits the load rather than being drawn through it and I've not found it as effective. But I did come to that conclusion fairly quickly and haven't tried to explore my methods too much.

Hello Pasterino, I also use a regular flame whenever I'm "attempting" plant materials. I say this because I've never had much success compared to my MFLB. Do you have the 2700 batteries? That helped me.
As far as the coughing, only the first couple times before I realized that I was overheating. Once I switched to a flame, no more problems. Still the best device I've used for concentrates. I even when out and picked up the H2O GonG one. Works even better IMO cause you get the added water filtration. But not exactly for the beach :)
