Here in south Florida you need to be blazed to drive or else these old people will make you want to kill someone.

But on a more serious note, I think it should be mandatory that everyone over the age of say, 70, should be required to take an in-car drivers test to renew their license annually. Reaction time and eyesight can degrade quite rapidly when one gets to that age.

God bless you...Its rare to find individuals around that age that feel the same way you do, they get defensive and upset and feel you are taking away their freedom. Back to this topic; I was hesitant about posting in this thread at the risk of being that guy however I mainly vape in my car. Every morning on the way to work, on my lunch, and on my way home from work. Many years ago instead of getting an education and a career, I was lazy and now Im paying for it with my current situation. My job is uncommonly stressful and really affects my attitude and mental health outside of my job. On top of that I have a long commute, for me the vaping has kept me sane enough to keep my job and deal with the bullshit traffic every day. My routine hasnt changed in two years and I havent had a single issue; with law enforcement or accidents, not even a speeding ticket. Every day I see someone almost causing an accident while trying to send a text, a woman swerving into other lanes while putting make up on, or someone trying to control a van full of kids on their way to school. Cant speak for everyone here, but my driving is nowhere near as careless or dangerous as those drivers on the road.

I understand the freedom part, but if one puts their own personal freedom to drive above the importance of taking an innocent life due to failing mental acuity or failing eyesight, they should be bitch-slapped.

Ditto!!! A much greater hazard, and I see this all the time, is the goddamn morons with cell phones plastered to their ears. They can be as bad as a teen texting or an alcohol impaired driver. Get a damn blue tooth device (or a car with blue tooth). I too have/had elderly relatives who had to have their keys ripped from their hands after hitting stationary objects without knowing how or winding up far from home not knowing how they got there or how to get back. Fortunately no one got hurt.

I vape and drive. Really this is one of those personal choices. There are many things that impair today's driver.

I'd say mmj use is still lower on the list of reasons for accidents than most other distractions/impairments.

Then again I do math all day high too. My tolerance is fucking stupid. :(

Hotvaping my Car (merged)

So tonights a sunday night I got nothing to do, I often vape in my room and use an spoof with carbon but the last few nights I have tried a new location to get vaked, My car, i have a 400w inverter where I plug in my dbv I sit in my car inside my garage. I hot box my car and seem to get slightly higher because of recycled vapor. This is a great place to vape because right now im home from college and am living with my rents for summer.

how risky would it be to vape in a car instead of a blunt or J,

Lost in Thought
Personally I think it would not be a wise choice.

For starters, you are already behind the wheel. This makes the decision of starting the car and taking a ride that much easier. (That = bad IMO)

IF (if) you happen to be unlucky enough to get caught vaping in the car then that is one more thing that can be used against you if it came down to it. You have seen people charged with DUI just because they went to take a drunken nap in their car (even with no intent to drive)

Other than that, if you are in the safety of your own garage though and getting more vaked by vaping in the car works for you, stay safe and enjoy!

AGBeer,
Of course you should! Cars are auper-awesome to get high in. You have a reclining chair, cool pedal things to keep your feet busy, wheel to tap your fingers to the beat on your bumpin stereo, aircon, room for all your friends and a swift means of escape should the apocalypse strike. IMHO you're better off hotboxing with vape than smoke anyhow. Dead smoke just tastes like shit and doesn't get you as high anyway. Vape justa hangs there, heavy with awesome. Box it up, man!

Perfect two responses^^

First one about being in a moving car and driving at the same time, no good IMO.

second one about vaking chilling in your garage sounds sweet

Yup, I used to have a parts car for my daily driver that needed some work...the parts car sat beside the garage, covered in snow, so id use it as a winter smoke spot! I loved how it looked with the windows covered in snow when sitting inside.

if i was younger, hell yeah i would be driving around town, hitting the dbv. i used to drive around smoking a 16" bong. enjoy life. but now that i'm a little bit older and the risk out weighs the reward, i try to do all my vaping at home. getting blazed out while it's pouring rain with thunder & lightning at the beach is very enjoyable. :ko:

Using an inverter most definitly led to the early demise of my alternator that I just had replaced...just sayin :)

I totally agree with djonkoman.

For me, I know the amount that suits the situation. For instance, I know not to get fucked out of my head and go cruising, I do not vape more than it takes me to the "damn I feel great" high that still enables you to use all of your motor skills. I am usually very aware of my environment and all of the things around me and also usually never travel over the speed limit either!

The question is, do you think that there is a "possibility" that your reaction time will be slowed a bit in an emergency situation when you are even just a little bit high.

I don't believe that you can categorically say that it's not a possibility, and being that you can't and being that even a fraction of a second can mean the difference between life and death, not only for you, but for other totally innocent people, when you are driving in a 3000 to 4000 pound piece of metal at 35 mph+ on a crowded street, wouldn't it be wiser to err on the side of safety and not vape when driving, or.............if getting high is THAT important that you are willing to take that risk, regardless how small you believe that risk may be, than I suggest that there are other issues that need to be addressed here. (fuck, that was a long sentence)
another thing to consider is how much your reaction time is slowed down by talking to a passenger, focusing on a gps, or changing a radio station. all of these will impair you, it's to what extent will they impair you. if you notice that something is impairing your ability to drive, you should try your hardest to avoid it, but i personally have found (and i know i'm not the only one) that i am able to improve my ability to focus on driving with cannabis use, similar to a cup of coffee, except under the influence of cannabis i can be smoother (really important if you're karting, or doing autoX, or on a wet southern-california road with people swerving all over the place (the usual)). another positive effect is the increased tendancy to leave space and look further ahead.

that isn't to say that there are drawbacks, but i minimize these my selectively dosing compounds.
by sampling ahead of time, i know exactly how to get the good effects without the bad ones.

any responsible user should do the same.

Well said, and for me personally since I rarely consume Caffeine, the effects of the Caffeine would have a larger affect on my ability to drive since I would feel the stimulant effect of the Caffeine pretty damn well.

I would almost argue that vaping while driving is just as safe as texting or talking on a a phone while driving, maybe even safer. I think those people are the truly dangerous element, especially considering their numbers compared to the number of stoned drivers.

You summed it up well Agent.

I see lots of good posts on this thread and as lwein stated in his own, everyone has their own freedom and entitlement of opinion. And with my right, I rightfully use it to reiterate this point posted prior:

lwein:
The question is, do you think that there is a "possibility" that your reaction time will be slowed a bit in an emergency situation when you are even just a little bit high.

Now I really don't want to sound pompous so I will do my best to just ask retorical questions.

Now I think that we could split hair and such but most on here would probably conclude that they would feel much safer driving "high" rather than "drunk"? And we also did touch up on something that pisses me off just as much as stated earlier of distracted drivers like cell phone Nazis and maybe I should slapped on the wrist for still using cd's and changing those? Haha Guilty as charged. So I give you this to those of you that say you focus more on driving while high, how could not say looking in the mirror (regardless the reason) isnt a distraction? "BUT WAIT, THAT"S SOMETHING YOU DO TO CHECK FOR CARS! THAT'S NOT A DISTRACTION!"

Now please don't be offended, but I kind of see a double standard of some posts as far as what is acceptable of what to do in the car because of its possibility to be a major distraction. Do you realize that you could be smashed from the side from a driver unknowingly while you are focused on "driving"? WTF does that mean? Well, again, driving isnt just driving, its gas, brake, shift, blinkers, looking at 3 different mirrors, visual, auditory, etc, etc. So could we at least agree that "driving" really is NOT just "driving.

I did read someone post about tolerances and I do think that yes, the more frequent the use, the body adjusts and the high seems less drastic compared to the stoniness of the first trip we look back on.
Medicinal or not, I don't think anyone in law ENFORCEment would give a care about what would require you (in your opinion) to be "high" while you drive? We can all sit here on a keyboard and type that I am better at this and better at that while I am "high" but someone, if you can, tell me what would hold up in front of a judge if you got caught under the influence that wouldn't get scoffed off as not being an excuse, but A LEGITIMATE reason to prove that you really are better at "x" when you're high compared to being less capable being sober while doing "y".

what I think has not been brought up is you really might not be high in the sky because you have a high tolerance, but if you got tested, they would go by the reading on the machine they use to test the amount of substance in your body? If only law enforcement had made such technology to just do pass/fail grade for us stoners huh? Lol "not high enough/too high" But life doesnt work that way or at least I don't think so. So I dont know if a statement like "I know how to get not too high or not too fucked up so I can't drive" is really valid at all. I am not stating that there is not a line or a gray area but I think that high is high when you start getting law involved.

So again, it's not a matter of are you a better or worse driver while high, it is how could you in anyway say that you could or couldn't have the same or better reactions of motor skills in an unexpected situation while you were high compared to you being high?

I think lwein has the same take as I have recently taken after taken a great and still going t-break. Also been a good reality check for me as too not only be thankful for my lack of any accidents or unluck occurrences. But also that I have not gotten pulled over for any other reason that might have put myself in jeopardy to possibly get a charge of driving under the influence. I think its clear after a post like this that I really dont have a plan to drive "influenced" any time soon. ;)

thoroughly vaped
Great thread with many good points, but I'd have to say I agree with many above. 1 or 2 MFLB trenches to chill the nerves after a rough day at work or while out & about doesn't seem to impair nearly as much as a good many drivers seem to be everyday. I'd also say a lot has to do with the individual, as so many people seem lost in their own little worlds these days (and I'm not talking about the stoned!). On occasion I may even take a call or use my GPS after a trench, and am certain I'm not as clueless as many out there just trying to figure out what lane to be in while gabbing on the phone, texting, fiddling with the radio, correcting the kids, eating lunch, applying make-up, reading the paper (yes, I'm serious!), or whatever else.

But, there's another component that no one has touched on. IIRC there was a study done on commercial pilots a few years back. None of them were regular smokers. Reaction times before smoking, while high after smoking, and then in 12 hour increments for a few days were checked. Needless to say, pre-smoking reactions were best and those for several hours after were generally worse. But, the interesting part was that all of the pilots still had worse reaction times for 36 - 48 hours later - some up to 72 hours. I'm sure the study is out there somewhere, and I (or you) could probably find it without much trouble. And, wouldn't be surprised to find similar out there. While not smoking or vaping as regularly as usual from time to time (nothing good around, just too busy with life, whatever else) I also notice that my ability to concentrate and handle many tasks is generally better after a few days of not indulging.

So if that concerned about how our meds (or alcohol for that matter) affect our driving abilities and reaction times, would that also mean all stoners should turn in their licenses or wait 3 days after a sesh to get in the driver's seat again? Party on Saturday night, and take the bus to work Monday & Tuesday just to be safe?

I wouldn't want to pull it out while driving, but for tailgating during football season my friends and I take one of those battery packs you use to jump start a car (this one has regular household plugs too), and vape with that.
