Eyeball this abv please? Colorblind

Great Scott!
Hey everyone. I am partially colorblind. I have been vaping for a while now. I'd really appreciate it if anyone can tell me much from my ABV. Maybe rate it 1-10. 1 being fresh bud, 10 being actual combustion temps. I am always looking to improve my experience.

Thanks!

had to view pic in separate window, it wont display for me here on the forum.
from the looks of it, it is still pretty much green... i would say it would rate about a 3... can still get several hits off of that.

I concur. Really no brown to speak of. Just a slightly vaped green.

indeed, altough ofcourse it's difficult to see with a pic wich is different on every screen, but I would see somewhere between a 2 and a 3 on your scale

Good pic. I'd say from the colour it is about a 2, meaning hardly vaped (in my opinion). At that point, I'd remove the herb, crumble it a bit more and reload. Yes, several more hits it looks like.

As everyone has mentioned, that isn't really ABV yet. There's lots of green mixed with light brown, so 2-3 at most. How many times did you hit that? How long did you wait before drawing, and how long did you draw?

If you have trouble judging by colour, you probably have to judge by taste. Keep hitting it until the taste turns nasty. Depending on your technique, this could be anywhere from 5-25 hits. Once you have seen a trench or two of real ABV, you might be able to learn how to judge by colour even though you're dichromatic, since it should look a lot darker.

Also, as Tom said, crumble it. The LB works better with a finer grind than I see in that picture.

Hey Dark,

As I told you earlier in chat you need to vape that more. Try to count how many hits you get per trench right now, then increase by several hits at a time and keep reposting the abv. Then once we nail it for you, just hit it how you normally would and stop at that that many hits?

We'll help you get your bud more vaped and you'll get more for you money.

Wow. I was expecting 5-6. I have quite a bit of strong cooking abv I guess haha. I don't like eddibles. My buddy will love it. Next time ill try hotter.

I vaped a fresh one to much browner. Darker than I usually go. To me it looked as dark as the walnut that my MFLB is made out of. Pretty close match by my eye at least. I tried taking a pic but my only camera is my phone and the flash would make it look really light. Without flash it wouldn't focus properly. I can't get used to this new phone's camera at all!

Much darker did give a stronger high but it did taste pretty harsh. I am using the small stem that they don't have anymore. It's more or less native that way.

I think you may benefit greatly by becoming familiar with the taste of the ABV you prefer, and then just use that to gauge when a bowl is done. Of course every strain will taste different but you'll certainly be able to tell when it's nearing the end.

Even a match to your (gorgeous) walnut LB wouldn't be as dark as my normal ABV, but I usually hit a trench 20-25 times.

I can try to vape even darker but honestly it just feels like I'm going to combust if I do.

I've been vaping for over a year or 2 now so I am familiar with my preferences, but I'm open to the suggestion that I've been vaping too lightly this whole time. It's hard to break old habits. I've had a rough day so on my ride home I'll try vaping much darker than usual. I'm generally scared to give it a shot at home since it seems like the hotter I vape the more it smells.

I'll see what kind of results I get and try to remember to update this.

Thanks!

there's no real 'too lightly' unless you aren't saving the abv, that'd be the only way you're actually wasting. You're saving up lots of high quality abv hopefully.

In some vaporizers its easier to vape darker without worrying about taste / actual combustion. that's part of the difference too.

Relaxin'
If you haven't gotten this tip before - just hit it until your hits taste like straight burnt popcorn. That's when it's really done. Don't worry so much about combustion, even the burnt popcorn taste is completely normal. As long as you hit it correctly you aren't going to combust.

yea man thar dosent even really look like you vaped it at all. aside from few tiny brownish dots.

if you've been vaping like that for a year or 2 you have been ripping yourself off lol.

smell dosent matter....only what matters is if you see/taste smoke.

when using small vapes like MFLB, IO , PD, EDZ, AZ/MZ you only get tastey tokes for the first 2 or 3 at most then it fades away you should be vaping until you see no more visible vapor coming from your exhales. it should be done that way everytime you vape.

Two suggestions:
1) Vape that shit longer. It looks like a 1 or 2 to me using your scale.
2) Break out the brush once in a while to tidy up all the loose bits.

Cheers!

I'll have to disagree with this statement as its far too universal IMO. Not everyone, myself included, vapes until visible vapor-production ceases, I don't think its fair for anyone to tell anyone else how to or when to stop vaping.

To the OP, FWIW, I'm sure by now you've realized that the general consensus is that there are more goodies to extract from your sample, that said, there's no reason other than personal preference to keep going. If vaping as such is getting you where you want (or need) to be, that's the ultimate mark of when to stop. :2c:

Yeah I agree. I am definitely happy with where I've been vaping this whole time, but I've been trying to vape hotter lately just to see if I notice much of a change in effects. It's too early to say. I expect a different high with more indica feeling couch-lock effects when I go hotter. Time will tell.

Just wanted this thread to have people comment on the color. I'll post a new pic sometime soon when I get one darker and can comment on the effects.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'll vape till it starts to taste kinda funky but that sure as hell doesn't mean that every one should do as I do.

I'd imagine it's much easier to get consistent ABV with the set temp PD you love. I will probably own one in the future, but it's not a priority right now. The DBV and MFLB combo is a pretty good setup for now.
